Do it but squating three times a week is pretty crazy. I did it and was knackered all the time. Gained muscle and my back became huge. One thing I noticed was my chest did not become bigger and hard , for me bench pressing doesn't work for my chest but it work for my shoulders. I find flys work for me .Also I would say follow the diet to as I became bigger but not as defined I wanted to . Decided to take some protein shake and this helped me alot with my energy levels. Been off it for 2 months now as been traveling alot but going to go back to this month with diet , calorie count and microns included and will incorporate chest flys . Will see how it goes for 12 weeks .
This was great, I have been researching "basic calisthenic exercises" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Jamescan Calisthenics Caboshed - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my cousin got excellent success with it.
Hey guys just wanted to let y’all know that I loved this program and the journey I took along the way has opened new doors for me! When i first started was in September and my squat was at 200, deadlift 225 and my bench was 205 for my 5x5. I kept with this workout for five months and the change was amazing! My new numbers for squat is 335, deadlift 405, and my bench 315!!! Now I am going to get ready for a new workout regime for my first ever powerlifting meet this September and just knew if it wasn’t for y’all I wouldn’t have even come as far as I have! You guys rock and stay buff💪💪
That's really good progress for that period of time, idk ur weight but to move up from 200 to 315 on bench is pretty strong if ur not really heavy,405 deadlift is also pretty good for the strength you've increased,
When I first started squatting, I was so immobile I had difficulty getting my arms back in place. I could do it, but not without a lot of discomfort. I found focusing on improving thoracic spine mobility to really help most.
Thanks a ton guys! 🙏I've been trying this programme for 3 weeks. I'm actually a Karate practioner and my Sensei suggested to try this programme to build explosive power for my punches and kicks! I normally go to the gym on my off Dojo days! That's 3 times a week! However as I'm an instructor myself I am busy teaching students whole day. Which means that throughout the day I'm having mini workouts with my students! In all honesty by the time I reach the gym floor it's like 9.30 at night so I am a lil tired at times. But this programme is awsum because it's short in terms of duration. However as I'm sometimes a lil drained at the end of the day I normally don't know what's my threshold is on my 5th rep. I feel that I can do more reps (maybe 3-4 more)at times and there have been occasions where I failed at the 4th repetition. So the 5th rep never happened! 🤣🤣would these experiences be technically wrong?? I already feel that my punching and kicking power have gone up amazingly. Thanks so very much for this. Lots of Respect from Mumbai, India 🇮🇳🙏
I was doing the Stronglifts 5x5 but found this to be INFINITELY better with the addition of a 4th compound. Absolutely love it and MADE ALL KINDS OF GAINS.
You shouldn’t start lifting off the rip with 5x5 if your body isn’t used to normal work in the gym, this is for heavy weight and adding mass. Not for stretches and mobility. They have plenty of videos that review proper warm ups.
For anyone who wants a summary or to just look at the form of each specific exercise: Squat 4:26 Rows (pendlay) 7:09 Flat Bench Press 9:01 Over Head Press 10:23 Skull Crushers 13:48
Been doing this for 3 weeks now. You guys are helping me through this in my goal to achieve a better body. Allready lost 1,5% of bodyfat. Keep up the good work guys
man y'all buff dudes and jeff Cavaliere arer my favorite guys to watch and learn from....y'all are so detailed in your vids...I been following over a year now...and inquired alot of things I learn from y'all in my workout....keep it up buff dudes
This is probably the best schedule I have ever tried. I am gaining strength like crazy. Almost every major lift of mine has gone up by 50 to 60 pounds in my first month
Seating Calfraise: Soleus Standing Calfraise: Gastroc + Soleus But the Soleus doesn't grow much anyway (mostly type 2 fibers) So I'd say, standing is the way to go. Also, the gastroc with its two heads is a lot more aesthetically pleasing.
Warming up and stretching are completely different. You should warm up, get the blood pumping, get warm. Stretching however just reduces muscles elastic potential and most of the time doesn't even warm you up! Warm up before, stretch after. The exception to this is when a muscle is abnormally stiff and short, in which case it should be stretched pre exercise.
Wow you guys are "buff dudes" 🤣 I just started a 5x5 routine (StrongLifts) and i have been out of shape for years now and I want to thank you for your videos. They are a huge help!
Best channel i found on youtube ! following you for only 3 months and you are really good ! with really nice advice ! (incredible actors ! haha) Keep going guys ! Clement (French kinesiologist - excuse my english hahha )
Guys, This is my 7th week with the 5 x 5. I'm 70 years old. I have gotten stronger in all the lifts. I use my own discretion concerning when and how much weight to add. Also, I use the smith machine for squatting and deadlifting is that alright ? I've gained about 5 pounds in 6 weeks, probably because I struggle getting the food and sleep thing right. I see change in my physic and the little muscle mass gain is noticeable. Thanks for turning me on to this.
Just noticed you guys almost have a million subscribers and that is just awesome. Good work and best wishes going forward. Edit* you guys just mentioned it yourselves but congrats nonetheless
Dealing with some SI joint inflammation and pain right now. I can still do the workouts. I’m just extra careful right now and these mobility exercises are gold. Love what you guys do! Oh and I’m starting the 5x5 this coming weekend. 💪😎👍☀️
The flag intro was very nice guys added with that kick ass music. Been following you two since this channel started out and by far best fitness (and overall) channel on TH-cam. Can't wait to see that 1 million sub video!
cant wait for the other workout routines fast because it's my first time doing your 12 week programs (gonna do the 1st one you guys made first) and I wanna condition my body as well. Been working out for like 7 months now had to go massive cut on weight from 78kg to 64kg (will need to remove around 5-6kg more then maintain from there since im just 5'5") and i want to hit my 1 year anniv by finishing a 12 weeks program you guys made. Thanks for the motivations Buff Dudes
You guys are hilarious! Also, very knowledgeable about working out.. I was curious about 5x5, now I can get started. Wish me luck! I will tune in for more of your videos!!
Man, thought Hudson was going to start bitching at the garbage truck while making a youtube video like that other fitness channel where the guy talks for 10 minutes and shows a 1 minute exercise
This calf raise alternative is awesome. I hate having a barbell on my back after squatting the last thing I want to do is standing barbell calf raises.
This is one more subscriber you have now guys, I aspire to be as fit as healthy as you both one day and i enjoyed listening to your thoughts on what you did and look forward to watching more.
Hyper-extension is never a Science and doesn't make much sense. If you want to warm up for squats, you should just do deeper squats with much lighter weights. Just my .02
New subscriber, loving the home workout ideas. I see all these videos of people using these awesome machines in gyms and get kinda jelly, but nothing quite beats being able to workout at home.
This looks more productive than my current 0x0 routine.

Chris Balut your telling me I just found it and gonna be starting the gym today.
Hudson's impersonation of Sylvester Stallone was on point, lol.
i love that your workouts arent too crazy hard.. their perfect for the intermediate/beginner.
One thing, regarding torso in pendlay row, though: --- = horisontal, I = vertical. Glad that I could help :)
Buffest dorks on TH-cam. Lot of respect!
Ever thought of doing a video on stretches to do to open up mobility and prevent injury? I never know what stretches to do before my workouts.
This please.
It’s at the start of the video
Rowing for 8 minutes
You shouldn’t start lifting off the rip with 5x5 if your body isn’t used to normal work in the gym, this is for heavy weight and adding mass. Not for stretches and mobility. They have plenty of videos that review proper warm ups.

I was with them since 1987 when they had 5 ppl following on a train
85 for me
Been with them since 1901, get on my level peeps
My nan was with them back in 1885
Truth is I was there with them in 1408 when Genghis khan overthrew the Roman empire, there was the two buff dudes bicep curling logs
I joined them for a push/pull regimen around 6000 BCE to build some pyramids in Egypt holding the secrets to 6 pack abs in 6 days
Standing calf-raise - I use a smith-machine for standing calf-raises. The weight distribution doesn't hurt my back like a standing-calf machine.

+um AppaL I've read that 5x5 was more of a beginners pattern. I did it for about 4 months and didnt see many gains from it.
+PorterPickUp it's more a strength program, not a bodybuilding program
This is probably the best schedule I have ever tried. I am gaining strength like crazy. Almost every major lift of mine has gone up by 50 to 60 pounds in my first month

I can't say much as this guy is no amateur... But I've read that static stretching immediately before lifting can decrease strength by up to 30%.
Way better than a injury.
Mark ripp says he never stretches
