Just to be That Nerd: Bows and guns existed alongside each other for centuries. It was only around the 16-1700s I think that guns started becoming more popular (and then mostly because they're a lot easier to use). It wasn't until the mid-1800s that guns started being able to outperform a trained archer. The problem, however, is that a 'trained archer' means someone who trained since they could walk, almost, and had to be in ridiculously good shape. Something I heard to illustrate this is "if you want a well-trained archer, you start training his grandfather".
@@pablovirus I'm very sketchy on the economics of that. So if you go back far enough, the question overwhelmingly was 'what could your local village produce?' and for a long while that was arrows, so there was just no alternative. Later on (I forget the year) local blacksmiths did learn how to make gunpowder and bullets. How do the two compare against each other? I don't know, but I do know it accelerated the shift to guns, because the easy option now also had ammo available. Can't really say anything more precise than that :/
@@pablovirus Not significantly compared to the ease of use of a gun. Comparing firearms and *bows* is a bit of an unfair comparison, because they're quite different weapons used by very different groups; a better comparison would be comparing early firearms to crossbows. Both are relatively easy compared to a bow to learn (just point and shoot) and thus could be handed en masse to conscripts. Once firearms became cheaper and more powerful than average crossbows, it made them largely redundant, well before bows stopped being used.
@@miramosa7768 yeah arrows were more expensive compared to bullets mainly because you had to grow the shaft in a special way, but even then its a wooden shaft vs the molded lead ball and explosives used in early guns
16:38 Harmstem, for your information Robin Hood was around the 12th-13th Century, gunpowder was discovered in china in the 9th century and the first "g*n" was made in the 10th century
Harstem, if you want to know, one of the first major battles where cannons were used in Europe (and with a lot of success) was the battle of Châtillon, in 1453, which ended the 100 years war :)

11th-12th century is your Robin Hood answer. This means he did not have big balls to go against gunpowder which didn't even exist at the time. Is this Answer IMBA or do I suck?
Robin hood is lured to a cabin and killed in the end, maybe saving his wife who was kidnapped possibly but with the last of his strength he fires an arrow and asks to be buried where it lands. Little johns there with him and carries him away into myth Edit: Maybe it's poison from a poison arrow. but the story is similar to what I said above, not sure, this is the type of thing I used to look up but that builds too much reliance on that feature and makes you useless in person conversation
I stopped playing like 4 years ago but watching you play gives me that old joy I used to have while playing it :)) If I were you I would record twice as many videos you need, and just schedule them for the future. Instead of recording one you record two and have a backup :P, whenever you feel like not playing you have a pool of previously played games in your arsenal
Why doesn't Harstem (an other terrans) build a raven when playing against zerg? Given that Ravens are cheaper, wouldn't it be a huge help to clear creep? It cost 300 minerals for each scan while a Raven only cost 100/200. It does prevent you from building another unit but the value of the Raven seems large. Never understood this.
He explained it a couple times (Or maybe it was uThermal). I have wondered the same before. He said the main problem is that it takes away time/resources from building other air units which have a higher priority, like medivacs.
Unthinkable! Terrans actually got the lowest GG rate against almost any race (except only Zergs having lower gg rate in ZvZ in the table). I refused to believe that playing a particular race in some videogame somehow connected to the personality of a gamer but, damn son, these stats are right there.
here i am, sitting 1:30am just finished cooking some chilli egg fried rice... saw the new vid and i was like... aight time to grate some cheese on top of my food i guess

@@reinux yeah this is true. But what I was refering to was specifically that Zergs will GG most of the time when cheesed by Protoss. They will GG almost always when cheesed by Terran. And they almost never GG when cheesed by another Zerg. Obviously it's a pretty small dataset, but it is a funny trend nonetheless.
You build a sentry the moment you realize this is a proxy marauder build, start a stargate, when the main attack hits you evacuate and sacrifice the low ground, then force field the ramp. If the terran pulls the boys like Harstem did, that's GG. If not, you're still dealing with an opponent that invested heavily in aggression so as long as you evacuated you'll be fine.
Does anybody D1 or higher want to write down or do a youtube video of Harstem's BC-hellion-SCV pull allin TvZ build order? I'm a mech terran who wants to learn a 2-base allin vs zerg, the only builds I currently know are macro and one base rushes

Was the price of arrows also a factor? It seems a well-made arrow would be more expensive than whatever they fired from old guns

I love Harstem's indignation every time he gets cheesed while cheesing. "You can't cheese me, have some self respect."

i think it would be fun to see against protoss, only winning by de-powering their pylon instead of direct army contact in a cheese or something.

Zergs with both the most and least mannered matchups, TvZ and ZvZ respectively
died to the BC build last night - almost submitted to IoDiS
finally the GG stats. with 200 data points its even a somewhat valid statistic i think.
14:25 wtf harstem becoming a monkey
Überhaupt kein Problem 😂😂🎉. Well played as always 😊 love the series
While Zergs are very mannered against the other races. They have no patience for ZvZ cheese XD
It's true, every time I get cheesed in zvz I literally die and go to hell
You could type poems, rap, or something random every minute or two to the enemy.

the ZvZ GG % being so low is actually so indicative of zerg players' manners, i can't LOL😂
