I love Blake Edwards's films and this is by no means an exception. Both Jack Lemmon and the beautiful Lee Remick's performances were absolutely amazing and powerful to watch. This film will turn 60 years old this year in 2022. Charles Bickford and Jack Klugman both turn in some stellar support in the film as well.
Aerosol insecticides were the new, wonderful invention of that time. Spraying deadly poison all around your apartment was considered a sensible thing to do - despite this overstated comic scene. In real life people didn't act this way.
Not true, Ottawa Canada building had a huge roach problem, millions of them, the problem was just like this movie, half of the tenants in the stand alone 10 story building refused to let the exterminators into their apartments, they said to leave the bugs alone: From the true reality show 'INFESTED"
When you spray they go next door. When the neighbors spray they return. You're just moving them around unless you do the entire building. Former NYC coop pres.
Saddest movie I've ever seen. Best acting though. I watch it every time it's on. 😢😔

Lee was absolutely beautiful in this film. What a knockout.
I love the camera work in this sequence.
You'd have to be made of stone not to cry at this especially the song
The fact he was excited over doing something for his wife by Spraying pesticide indoors is hilarious.

I just LOVE, Maxine Stuart!
The alcohol is taking hold and they are losing touch with reality.
Some interesting 50’s paranoia.
Love jack and lee
No roaches will be midway up this door frame. Ever.
Amazing
Lee always looks as if the end of her nose is cold. Lovely.
Seeing Remick in this scene makes thinking
about the rest sad, sad.
Tilsamen I himelen
He bought over alot to drink
That’s the point. He is already a drunk and he considers this normal.

Nobody worries about those poor roaches these days :,(
WTF? I live in NYC and everyone sprays because everyone has roaches.

@@jamespfitz Then that's the neighboring co-op's problem. That doesn't mean I shouldn't get my home sprayed to get rid of them.
This scene always bothered me. Why do they have her living in roach kingdom. They could've left this part out.
I think it’s supposed to show how it bothered them before to be in a roach apartment to not caring at all once they both started drinking.
@@stephaniepinto9390 Stephanie is right. There's a lot of symbolism here with the cockroaches believe it or not.
It’s a brief moment of comedy early in their relationship before the unrelenting tragedy and despair that follows.
