Das ist wohl oft bei solchen "Supergroups": ein Auftraggeber/Label spinnt sich eine vermeintlich bombastische Konstellation zusammen, allerdings hat jeder Musiker seine eigenen Vorstellungen und will sich durchsetzen. Ich habe den Eindruck, dass Jack Bruce seinen Willen gegenüber Vernon Reid rücksichtslos durchboxt und ihn auf offener Bühne vor vollendete Tatsachen stellt. Vernon Reid ist sichtlich angepisst und hat keinen Bock, shredded irgendwas hin und macht "Dienst nach Vorschrift". Terry Bozzio tendiert vergleichsweise wenig zur Selbstdarstellung und holt das beste raus. Die fehlende Kommunikation und Musikalität mag aber auch an der Technik gelegen haben. Jedenfalls meint man, dass ein Großteil der brodelnden Energie aufgrund persönlicher Probleme flöten geht...
Some good points. Indeed, individually great musicians don't necessarily make a great band, or rather on the contrary. History proofs that "supergroups" seldom live up to the expectations. At least not in rock and pop. Another reason for why this comes across as you point out, is the mix, I think. The guitar and voice are way too much to the front, while they lack backing up by bass and drums. The sound engineer must've thought it's about Hendrix, so with dominating guitar and vocals, while the rest isn't that important. BTW; apart from his playing I can't help but miss Hendrix' stage presence, when looking at Vernon Reid.
Some wild speculations. Actually Jack Bruce and Vernon Reid was close friends and collaborated in several projects. Like Cuicoland Express and Spectrum Road.
