Living Colour are currently in the studio creating a new album. As a lifelong Vernon Reid & Living Colour fan (since the day "Vivid" came out), I cannot wait to hear what they come up with next.
There’s just something about the raw and unpolished chaotic licks that the Iate great Hendrix pioneered that can also be seen in hard rock in black guitarists like Vernon Reid and Prince. Like a lot of folks, I used to be only enamored by all the arpeggio shredders until I got really bored and discouraged and saw that many were just ego driven emulators with little musicality. Funny thing is, most folks can copy/paste what classic shredders can do with enough practice but hardly anyone can sound like the two distinguished names I mentioned no matter how good they are.
Nice ingredients, the Bozzio frenzy cuts through the filthy noise floor really well. The whole thing has teeth of it's own. Certainly not a weak imitation of the original.
Vermont ear an note choices still shock me lol, I used to just like, in this order, his funk chops, his metal riffs then his solo style, know I just kinda know the avant garde solo is coming when I listen to LC.
What a great year '952 was 😎
