I was privileged to attend his several innovative programmes like Eka raaga sabha wherein ragas like Begade was choosen for a total survey traversing its various contours, shruthi bedhas on the violin with his scholarly explanation. First he presented a Varna, followed by a medium tempo kriti, then a popular kruthi in vilamba kala, detailed ragalapana, different types of tanams like Mayura Tanan, Markata tanam, manduka tanam, kukkata tanam etc . The pallavi was in Khanda Jathi tripura thala with detailed sahitya vinyasa, Trikala, Anuloma, Viloma etc. The concert was rounded off with a thillana and jawali. Duration was 2 hours including brief thani avartanam by percussionists. One more programme I attended was, his lecture demonstration in fluent English with the help of charts about the origin of violin, its various parts, and difficulty in maintaining the instrument etc under the aegis of Indian fine arts society, Madras. He was a good speaker also with sufficient preparation to cover the topic with great care with a large dose of humour. I cherish my numerous interactions with him.
When more than 90 percent of the audience is Thamizh people, the lecdems should be ptresented in Thamizh. For others a synopsis of the same can be given in English. My Humble suggestion.
I would just love it if Krishnan or Vijayalakshmi would demonstrate the technique lalgudi developed - the combination of bowing and fingering - that allowed him to reproduce lyric to perfection on the violin. In the adaptation of the violin to our karnatic music, this was a notable technical advance and I would so much like to understand it through illustration.
Fantastic information thanks to the Artist, my question is after listening to a small piece of recording why we are not really getting the sound quality, even present days violinist are using imported violin and strings
He was also Guru of Bombay Jaishri..KK Ravi..SP Ramah.. His children are so special to him.. His siblings got the Sangita Kalanidhi award, unfortunately he didn't get
He was not given the Sangeetha Kalanidhi for a long time. But, when he was offered the same, he politely rejected the award. Hence the lifetime achievement award was instituted
Lalgudi bani is unique identity in carnatic music. LGR Krishnan & Vijayalakshmi strictly following the tradion. Lalgudi tree is lenghthy one. Many syshyas including Bombay Jayasri. Son & Daughter lecDem is meaningful

"Lalgudi Jayaraman a Tapasvi attaining Sangita Brahma Rushi Sthaanam a exalted state of rare of the rarest" -Sandhyavandanam Srinivasa Rao
Laalgudi Jayaraaman was extremely creative
He was also Guru of Bombay Jaishri..KK Ravi..SP Ramah.. His children are so special to him.. His siblings got the Sangita Kalanidhi award, unfortunately he didn't get
But Lalgudi Jayaraman was given Lifetime achievement award
Lalgudi not conferred Kalanidhi is only a loss to the award and not to the genius🙏🙏
He was not given the Sangeetha Kalanidhi for a long time. But, when he was offered the same, he politely rejected the award. Hence the lifetime achievement award was instituted
Awesome Lecdem - 🙏🙏

He is a Avatara purushar Pol endru sollalaamaa.. God sent him to save violin 🎻.
Na butho NA BHAVISHYATI
It is surprising that Sri Lalgudi Jayaram was not confirmed with the Sangeet Kalanidhi title. He was a Sangeet Kalanidhi even without the title.
