T M Krishna is a rogue. A anti Hindu pro islamist. If Carnatic music is a brahmin domain why is it that nadaswaram and tavil don't have brahmin players ?? Never seen moorsing played by a brahmin !! Who was sheikh Chinna Maulana?? Every community has its own passions that is patronised by majority of the people from that community. TM Krishna is a blot on the Carnatic music community.

    Poorly edited documentary! Very disappointing!
    - It lacks focus. What are all the other people unconnected with the (stated) main theme of Sri Sivaraman, the legendary Mridangam Vidwan, doing here?
    - It is haphazard. Very choppy! A scene here, a moment there, and then the Guru talking! Seriously?
    - It lacks purpose. What does it bring out that we didn’t know already about Sri Sivaraman? What is the message? What does this video seek to achieve?
Looks like the producers didn’t give it much thought! What a disappointment!! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

What a wonderful documentary. The man is an incarnation of Bhagavan Nandi Himself. A colossus standing tall in his service to Carnatic Music spanning generations. The piece with Mattannur Sankarankutty Sir was the icing on the cake. To be able to hear both the percussions in sync seems like a scene straight out of Mount Kailash.
P.S. Whoever thought of inviting T M Krishna for this documentary screwed up big time. He had nothing to contribute except for his usual Hindu-hating-left-wing-Brahmin-bashing monologues masquerading as eloquent English that can often be seen in his worthless tweets.

In ART there are great people from all walks of life .
Many ,for the sake of money , go to the film word deserting classical carnatic music .
This fact TMK should address and also allow every one to choose his/ her field of interest .

Super documentary on Umayalpuram Sivaraman . Some of the comments made by a Krishna on a particular community patronising classical music , according to me is unfortunate choice of language. No body is stopping anyone from learning or listening to classical music. I am not from the said community but I still enjoy and love carnatic music. Many people don't relate or understand classical music. We must have better methods to educate young people to understand/enjoy classical music. There are many people who don't want to listen let alone learn carnatic music as it might not agree with their religious sentiments. I hope an/any attempt to educate people in the wonderful splendor of carnatic music will come by. wonderful job Rajiv Menon.Pls make more wonderful videos.
One more thought how many western people listen to western classical music? In the west there is no so-called cast/religion.

The first five minutes of the docu seems to have no relevance to the maestro or his music. The way the maestro is introduced as the subject by the speaker also lacks proper coherence. The scripting could have been done much better. Of course, the words of the maestro and snatches of his play more than compensate for all this.

As a few have stated in comments, a good documentary without focus! Good for nice photography and self analysis of the maestro! But poor editing, lack of continuity, loose expression and unrelated comments let this down! Is it made to talk of the maestro or something else isn't known because of that! An analysis of genesis of Carnatic music and why it's not common place is totally a different story. There's no need to club it here on a film about a mridangam vidwan! The frames were insanely good! So Rajiv Menon. But felt that there could have been a little more texture to the story, for example, what was his relationship with his instrument, and how he went about expanding his repertoire, could have made it come alive better.. Why was TMK even there? He was adding no value to this particular narrative

The obstacle should be in the art education is schools and colleges. China rhe have a good systems to preserve their art culture. We don't have such systems for education in India. India mother all art and 1000 and 1000 are in it . Many art disappeared within 50 years time 😮😢😢

What an absolute genius percussionist. As someone who plays the Tabla and generally listens to Hindustani Classical, such guni people are my windows into the amazing and beautiful world of Carnatic Sangeet. He is positively drawing people like me to Carnatic Sangeet by striving for perfection with his music rather than propaganda and negative Bol Bachan by some. That is how it should be. More power to Dr Sivaraman.
