Love that Axe did not follow the “captain dies with the ship” trope considering he had a viable and very easy means of escape. Man’s said “I have a jet pack” and teeter himself out the window
I also thought that and hoped that there wont be any more unnecessary and stupid deaths. Was going to be extremely dumb to loose Axe and Paz Vizsla at the same time .
"very easy means of escape." Doesn't make any sense though. The windows in Star wars space ships aren't made out of glass .It's a material called Transparisteel and being able to break it with a small rocket like that shouldn't be possible.
0:23 Not sure why but I love that not so graceful landing on the ships gangplank. Feels realistic in that Mandalorians aren’t always going to have an easy time landing on their feet after a flight, especially if their landing site is a moving ship
Really loved how these Mandos operate, using their jetpack to swiftly move from their light cruiser to troop transport ship. Any other military factions would've needed the transport ship to dock to the cruiser first, which takes considerable time. Also, the transport ships do not need to stop for the troops to exit, they can just drop the troops to the battlefield without losing momentum. The most dangerous part of any troop transport operation is when the transport stops in order to unload the troops but Mandalorians bypass that problem with the use of their jetpack. Always love it when a military faction use its strengths and uniqueness to its advantage
thats why mandos are the best warriors in the galaxy. they have the armor and weapons of heavy infrantry. the mobility of light infrantry. they can keep their foes off balance with unconventional tactics
Honestly people give S3 shit, but seeing Mandalorians in live action like this was such a childhood dream come true that I am beyond caring, I love it so much.
i read sometime ago that this makes sense since on an atmosphere they're experiencing constant drag which will exhaust their fuel supply more quickly, but travelling from the ground to space won't because the air density diminishes with altitude and they can keep gaining speed and won't waste as much fuel
Going from ground to space is a LOT less distance than you think; on Earth, the Karman line is ~50 miles. Whereas along a planet's surface you can traverse that distance very quickly by jetpack, and it was definitely more than 50 miles that they were chasing that bird thingy.
My biggest gripe with this scene is that we see fighters of a different model than their gauntlet fighter transports, and we also see the ship type that Din helped Bo and gang steal in Season 2 But then both ship types completely disappear and we only focus on the light cruiser and the fighter transports
I've been assuming that they planned to have a fleet battle including the Fang fighters and Gozantis, but for whatever reason (Disney execs) it got cut, presumably for more Grogu screentime
The Fang fighters escorted the Gauntlet transports. But yeah, the cruisers completely vanished. I assume the had to decide big space battle or the Jetpack air battle and chose the second one
Could be for two reasons - one not enough time for a full on battle cause of Disney time restrains or two they could be guarding the Gozantis transports as dont seem them bring those in with the foundling into battle.
There was supposed to be a HUGE space fight, it’s even seen during the end credit story boards, unfortunately it was cut for unknown reasons. Probably budgetary?
to people who are asking where the gozantis and fighters went idk about how many but b4 the jump a sizable portion of the fleet takes position on the flank of the cruiser but does not jump with them by my count like 3 gozantis and a handful of fighters/transports. why they didnt just use the fighters they had left to defend the capital ship idk this felt rushed.
I really got a gripe with the use of jetpacks here. It takes a lot for a regular ship to exit atmosphere. Yet these jetpacks have no issue with the fact. They seem to have endless fuel and have no issues keeping up with larger dedicated space ships while having tiny exhaust ports. They should be much much more limited in speed and range due to their size.
My biggest gripe is for jet packs in general. How is it possible to have literally a flame thrower 😅 close to your ass, and yet, don't get your but and legs burned !? The heat trail must be quite big even for some special fabric pants .
This was my biggest complaint, too. The idea of a jetpack breaking atmosphere is just absurd given the capabilities we've established already. My second biggest complaint is that after the battle at the base is over, we never see the Imperial starfighter fleet being addressed.
Its a royalty free/free to use live wallpaper I found from some random web page that had free downloads of these. Wish I knew who the original creator was so that I can at least give proper credit! I just added some royalty free sound to it and additional transition animation to loop and overlay little fx to make it more dynamic.
Smart idea to try to ambush Mandalorians who definitely know of your presence and empty your base of all fighters , Ladies and Gentlemen the Empire for you 😅
Where are the shields on the 546 cruiser? I understand that proton torpedoes bypass shields but not laser fire from interceptors. Disney likes to forget how Star Wars works
I legit was expecting him to betray them and steal the ship. It could’ve ended in several ways but chucking it into a ravine was probably the dumbest way possible.
Good question ! No idea what fuel they use, but that guy went in to space with his jet pack and even had some fuel to jump from the ship before it crashed, yet when they were chasing the pterodactyl monster that took Ragnar, they fell short on juice ? For example it was shown that just one drop of coaxium kickstarted the Millennium Falcon , so jet packs are probably using something less potent or run on more than one type of fuel ? Either way, Disney is in charge so don't expect to find a meaning many times 😅 By the way, the old clip on your channel with the soldiers saluting the veteran was really nice and respectful 👍👍
I REALLY was looking forward to see Axe arrive too late as the fighters were already launched from a nearby base and support cruisers slamming the fleet. But season 3 has had only one thing going the entire time: No stakes.
@@Lr.Laecro.Lirus3445 I do agree, it felt rushed on important things but wasted a lot of screen time on unimportant shots. It looked great but the writing was lacking. Are you telling me that cruiser didn't have any shield onboard ?! Cause that's the only explanation for it to be shredded by fighters (yes FIGHTERS, not Bombers, the difference is important). Are they really hoping to take back what's left of the planet (supposed to have been "Glassed" by the Empire, but let's not dwell on that part) with about 20 people and a plushie in a floating egg ?! Why the hell didn't they use the remaining embarked star-fighters to protect the ship ?! So many questions that I believe I won't like the answer to...
There were bombers there….. you can see the cruiser getting hit by proton torpedoes. and also is it not obvious he was using the ship as a decoy so he could destroy the imperial base….. hints why he told literally EVERYONE to evacuate the ship.

I mean it wasn’t his ship he just returned it to its actual owner
Tell that to Paz who could’ve used his jet pack to fly away. Or Bo Katan who could’ve cut the door with her darksaber way sooner haha
For a moment I was afraid he will die because of running out of fuel after flying to the orbit.

Return to Mandalore is one of Star Wars Greatest Arc
So apparently the jetpacks have enough fuel to fly from ground to space... and yet can't keep up with a dragon/bird thing eating their kids...?
the bird was a random attack maybe he was low- this was a war so they prob used the most premium fuel available
Exactly. On regular days they don't carry around their full equipment. That attack took them by surprise.

@@thesteammachine1282 Every mandalorian wears a flight suit, I figured the first thing you could assume about their fabric is that it's fireproof.

Jetpacks were OP this season
I get the reason for crashing the cruiser into the base, however, the Mandalorians could have really needed a base like that… shame.
After most of the mandos evacuated, they should have just had the fleet jump into hyperspace
Did the cruiser not have any shields up at the time?
It was used as a decoy he wanted it to go down so he could crash it into the imperial base.
