You need to be aware that this novel is in a much older form of English than is generally used now. And many of the words are used in a way that we would not use them now. Like talking about the levels of intimacy within a friendship is not referring to a sexual relationship but the degree of confidence and esteem that the people in a friendship have for each other. You are going to want to listen to some videos analyzing all of this so that all of the much older words will be understood by you and their proper context. Good luck

I love this book. You are a great reader. I wish however, that you would speak more slowly. The writing asks of it! I have really enjoyed your reading and could like it more...
Just change your settings to playback speed to .75. This way you will be perfectly satisfied, as will the rest of us who are happy with the current speed. you can always slow down or speed up any reading by hitting the button on the screen that looks like a gear wheel, to the right of the CC closed caption icon. Just click on it, and you can slow all the way down to a 1/4 speed, which ought to be slow enough.
Mrs. Bennett and Mr. Collins remind me of so many frívolos, vaina, pompous individuals. They don't realize their short commings and they are going to do what they want to do regardless...rebellious and wantom.
OMG I just realized something Mr Collins may have totally thought that Lizzie was getting ready with extra care for the Netherfield ball because he had asked her to two dances. He thought that was her returning his affection, oh my gosh that's why he's so pissed when she rejects him. oh my goodness it all makes sense now. That's why he's so angry that he slights the entire Bennett family by proposing to Charlotte Lucas. Instead of just going down the list to the next Bennett sister.
Apparently you are unaware that Alan Rickman has been dead several years at this point. Is the most Grievous thing to have to tell you but he is long gone. The other actor I think is still alive but I am not sure
I am very impressed by the way that she doesn't try to do voices exactly, but she DOES change her cadence and pitch for each character, just enough so that each person is distinctly recognisable without breaking the overall flow of the story. It makes for a very pleasant listen.
Mrs. Bennet would have had Mary married to Mr Collins if she had the sense to suggest her . She should have taken in consideration Elizabeth's character and not encourage Mr Collins to propose to her.
This narration is priceless!!! I am a highschool student, and this helped me so much to understand this complex book and the interactions among its characters. Thank you so much for putting 10 hrs of effort and awesomeness to a classic!

I have read P&P dozens of times. I have seen all of the movies made about it many times. I have seen this novel acted in live theater several times. This oral treatment of the novel is perfect. I was so fortunate to run across this channel. I have had neurological problems and double vision for 4 years now; a problem which my previous neurologist made seem of no account at all, and my family act as if was all due to lack of sleep. The sad truth though is that it was confirmed this past Friday by my new neurologist that I have paralysis of my eye muscles, and I do not think they can reverse it. It looks as if it is MS, although the Doctor won't know for certain for a few more days. The idea of the day coming where I can no longer read is terrifying; but thanks to channels like yours, I can not only enjoy these books that I can no longer withstand the eye strain to read, but it's like hearing myself read aloud with an English accent! You have no idea how thankful I am, and how much it means to people like me. First, because you do justice to this novel and read it the way it should be read, and Second, because it allows me to close my eyes and get lost in the story for a few hours, and take my mind off of everything else. Honestly, I find myself wishing you lived near here and I can imagine you dropping in to gossip like Elizabeth or Jane. With much gratitude:)

Pride & Prejudice is my all time favorite love story due to the exquisite building tension between Lizzy and Mr. Darcy as they circle one another in an attempt to conquer one another.
I read the book,watched the 1940s film version with Laurence Oliver and Greer Garsson..and the BBC series back in the 90s...excelente production..and read the book in Portuguese Version...two years ago on Holidays...
I often feel having read the book often, and when listening to the audiobook that those who have only seen the series and films of Pride & Prejudice have missed out big time, huge! I will always recommend this or tell them to read the book! It's my nighttime story when I can't sleep. Love it!

I'm hearing impaired & this is one of the many audio books with closed caption. I'm also older and need large print. The closed caption sometimes gets it wrong. I love this book and that it is very well read. Chapter 56 is my favourite. The dialogue between Elizabeth and Lady Catherine is the best!

I love this book. You are a great reader. I wish however, that you would speak more slowly. The writing asks of it! I have really enjoyed your reading and could like it more...
Just change your settings to playback speed to .75. This way you will be perfectly satisfied, as will the rest of us who are happy with the current speed. you can always slow down or speed up any reading by hitting the button on the screen that looks like a gear wheel, to the right of the CC closed caption icon. Just click on it, and you can slow all the way down to a 1/4 speed, which ought to be slow enough.
Mrs. Bennett and Mr. Collins remind me of so many frívolos, vaina, pompous individuals. They don't realize their short commings and they are going to do what they want to do regardless...rebellious and wantom.

OMG I just realized something Mr Collins may have totally thought that Lizzie was getting ready with extra care for the Netherfield ball because he had asked her to two dances. He thought that was her returning his affection, oh my gosh that's why he's so pissed when she rejects him. oh my goodness it all makes sense now.
That's why he's so angry that he slights the entire Bennett family by proposing to Charlotte Lucas. Instead of just going down the list to the next Bennett sister.

I am very impressed by the way that she doesn't try to do voices exactly, but she DOES change her cadence and pitch for each character, just enough so that each person is distinctly recognisable without breaking the overall flow of the story. It makes for a very pleasant listen.

I was so fortunate to run across this channel. I have had neurological problems and double vision for 4 years now; a problem which my previous neurologist made seem of no account at all, and my family act as if was all due to lack of sleep.
The sad truth though is that it was confirmed this past Friday by my new neurologist that I have paralysis of my eye muscles, and I do not think they can reverse it. It looks as if it is MS, although the Doctor won't know for certain for a few more days. The idea of the day coming where I can no longer read is terrifying; but thanks to channels like yours, I can not only enjoy these books that I can no longer withstand the eye strain to read, but it's like hearing myself read aloud with an English accent!
You have no idea how thankful I am, and how much it means to people like me. First, because you do justice to this novel and read it the way it should be read, and Second, because it allows me to close my eyes and get lost in the story for a few hours, and take my mind off of everything else.
Honestly, I find myself wishing you lived near here and I can imagine you dropping in to gossip like Elizabeth or Jane. With much gratitude:)

She doesn't subscribe to the need for the sentiment of romance, but is intimate friends with those who do, Jane and Elizabeth, enough to be quite sensible to the signs. She has been "out" long enough to be very keen on the strategies of romance. For her, it is the strategy of survival.

I must confess that this is my first time ever succeeding in finishing this novel. It is an absolutely delightful read and the narration is so well done. I dare say that I love this novel even better than its film adaptations which are all greatly loved by myself. I endeavor to read this novel again and again in the future as it gives me great joy. Have you seen the BBC production with Colin Firth? It's brilliant (acting). It's not a cinematographic production but I guarantee you it's probably the best.

Pride & Prejudice is my all time favorite love story due to the exquisite building tension between Lizzy and Mr. Darcy as they circle one another in an attempt to conquer one another.

I read the book,watched the 1940s film version with Laurence Oliver and Greer Garsson..and the BBC series back in the 90s...excelente production..and read the book in Portuguese Version...two years ago on Holidays...

I often feel having read the book often, and when listening to the audiobook that those who have only seen the series and films of Pride & Prejudice have missed out big time, huge! I will always recommend this or tell them to read the book! It's my nighttime story when I can't sleep. Love it!

This is a very old form of English. You should also check out Dr Octavia Cox explanation of what some of these older versions of the words mean so that you can use them in appropriate context for modern language.

I have seen two of Pride and Prejudice. The six part series with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. And the movie with Kiera Knightley. I have also read reviews where neither did the book any justice. I wanted to read it asap to see what I was missing, as I loved both series and movie.

Just so you are aware this is a very old form of English and is not going to be extremely useful to you learning modern english. Many of the words in this book are not used in this way anymore.
