Excellant still photos of the past, brings back memories where everything was still experimental.Dave Strickler and Grumpy Jenkins were at the top of both Chevy and Dodge entries, happy you included them!
Hello sir thank you so much. Yeah those were some really neat days of drag racing and early days of grumpy and their race car clinic. Thank you for being on my TH-cam channel. Sure appreciate you please subscribe thank you.👌✌️
@DrDixonBhD hello yes sir they own drag racing in the 60s Don was the man though. It was a great time and drag racing down south with up with the southern boys of drag racing 👌👍😎
Wish I could have seen pictures of Stone, Woods & Cook back in the 60’s when I was in high school it would have been a life changer to know that Stone & Woods were Black Men owners and builders of the most beautiful, famous AA/G and possibly the most beloved drag car in drag racing history! I had all the drag magazines and never saw a picture of them together so with joy and sadness at 76 almost 77 to finally see Stone, Woods & Cook! Are they in drag racing hall of fame? Thanks for sharing this great video of all my drag racing heroes from my youth‼️♥️🏆🏁🙌🏿
Hello, yes me as well. I’m looking into the history with them in 1962 they ran high tens with that car with a 467 Oldsmobile motor in it that’s honking on it but yes, they were a big part of drag race in history. Super good stuff. I’m sure I’m glad I got that picture on there for you. Not a lot of pictures out there, but that was one of the most beloved Willy’s ever in drag racing history take a look at my video with nitro Nellie I have a couple videos on her. She was one of the first women drivers in a funny car in 1968. Google her quite an amazing lady and I believe she’s still alive. Thank you so much for your comments and being on my TH-cam channel please subscribe thank you.👌✌️
Wow! Great picture 's of the Glory Days of Drag Racing & my life spent at all the tracks!! What Fantastic Memories. Thanks for letting us see them again!!! 💯✌️😎
Hello Dave well thank you so much, sir. It’s a pleasure for me to bring it to everyone wow it sounds like you were deep into it. I wish I would had a chance to cover all the races back in the day. I was stuck at gator nationals being I lived in Florida and never went to any of the other meetsstarting in 1973. Those memories seem to be as precious as any of them back in the day drag racing was pretty much everything. It was a huge sport in our minds I don’t think anything can compare today. I’m enjoying getting back into NHRA after being away from the sport for about 14 years was big on seeing all the original superstock cars run I like the nostalgia funny cars they’re pretty cool bringing some old-school back to NHRA thanks so much for your comments memories and stay tuned for coverage of the US nationals in Indy August 28 me and Geoff Stunkard will be there covering that huge event I’m so looking forward to bringing that to everybody. Stay tuned.✌️👍
I can't wait to see your pics!!! Love the nostalgia racing!!! I have been into drag racing for 55"years now own a 69" Camaro. Thanks again keep up the great work.😎✌️💯
Hello Dave you’re very welcome, sir. Super cool I’ve been around it since the late 60s and he’s got a 69 also that’s great. How’s it set up? Is it Stock lol Tell us about that Camaro would like to hear 👍😎
@@MUSCLECARCORNER426 Dr. Dixon's comment echoes my own. Stone and Woods were two highly successful contractors in California who fielded some of the most recognized cars in drag history. Doug had also been active in gasser and came to replace their former driver, K.C.Pittman. They were ranked high in gasser wars, and when funny cars started getting better bookings, they entered their own. It was in this car that Doug was injured when the car took flight. S&W continued with other drivers like Bones Balogh and Kenny Safford. Doug's son secured a couple of those cars years later to restore the gassers.
I had all the drag racing magazines in high school in the 60’s and loved the Stone, Woods and Cook AA/G but only pictures of the driver Cook was ever shown! I can only imagine how many Antron Browns would there have been all these decades if all the drag racing publications had the courage and respect towards Mr. Stone and Woods! Drag racing has always been my favorite sport since the late 50’s and here it’s 2024 and I’m seeing the greatest most popular drag car of all time was owned and built by two Men that would have changed the world of drag racing to being more inclusive which might have did the same for all motor sports! Wally Parks could have stood up and changed the status quo maybe in a parallel universe‼️♥️🏆🏁🙌🏾
@DrDixonBhD Couldn't agree more! Doug did have to be the "face" when they traveled in the South. S&W may have embraced staying in the background, I just hope it helped them with the deals with Engle and Revell. I've been encouraging a re-release of the Revell models with picture of the WHOLE team in tribute.
Hello Randy yes sir, you are correct It was a great time in drag racing. Thank you so much for your comments. Are you in Florida ?? I know a Randy Johnson ??
Hello Clay, yes sir, he was a big part of taking the street racers off the street and putting them on the dragstrip. He’s pretty important in the realm of drag racing back in the day. Thanks for your comments. Appreciate you being on my TH-cam channel please subscribe thank you. 👍✌️
@@MUSCLECARCORNER426 I remember those times back in the 60's for sure. We were doing some street racing (Hawthorne Blvd.), mid 60's. Big Willie was bigger than life back then, I'll never forget. He did so much for so many. Pappy Hart opened up Lions on Wednesday night so the kids would have a safe place to race. Great times to be a teenager in Socal.
Hello Dave super sweet sleeper with 550 horse yes sir, that will do it I’m so glad to hear about your car. I wish more subscribers would elaborate on their cars. They have I like to hear whatever everybody’s got. thanks for your reply. Stay tuned for more action. US nationals four days. I’ll be there. I’m bringing it to y’all.👍✌️

Gas Rhonda, remember him well.
Fremont Raceway, we loved running there. It was such a fast track.
Glidden's Arrow. I bet most people don't know he ran a Mopar one year. Chrysler paid him a ton to switch from Ford.
I think the Stone, Woods & cook story would make the next great drag racing movie if done right.
Awesome 👍😎🏁🇺🇸
Right on! Mopar nut thanks for your continued support, sir 😎✌️
