    I did the same thing using my Taylor wires when I switched out my distributor. Like you I had one of my firing order on the opposite side of the distributor, luckily I was able to rotate the plug end so that they weren't laying on top of each other. I also have a couple sets of the Billet Specialties wire holders, but have not used them yet until the next time I redo my wires and get the 9mm thick wires for a better fit like you've suggested. Car looks go too!

      Thanks!!
      I tried the 8.5mm wires that were on the car before I did this upgrade and they moved around too much inside the wire holder, so the 9mm wires are definitely the way to go. :)

      Thanks! It seems overwhelming at first, but you gotta just keep chipping away at it. This is what I envisioned when I bought the car, but there were times back then when I'd look at my engine bay and think it was never going to happen, too much to do. :)

    Another great video. I've been wanting to do the exact same thing for a while. Thanks for making it. Nice and clear and no non sense. Just straight good info and nice camera work too. BTW...how were you able to get rid of your old coupe for a fastback in the same color scheme ? Also, how do you like the 347 so far. Looks sweet !

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!
      It was purely coincidence that both cars were the same paint scheme. I like these colors (well, actually the real white and blue, nut the colors the previous owner painted the Fastback), but I wasn't specifically looking for white and blue. In fact, at the time, I was ok with just about any color because most of the cars available were either above my budget or already sold by the time I called about the car. I had to take what I could get, and that included driving 1800 miles to get this one.
      The 347 is amazing. Spoiler, next Thursday's video is not in my garage. Wink Wink.

      @AndyKruseChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome, I'm glad you're here! Those plug wire holders are from Billet Specialties. I paid about $120 for the pieces you see, so they're pricey, but they look and work amazingly! :)

    Should have kept the valve cover studs. Just put the retainer over the original nut and add another nut. Then again, I sold my project Mustang 15+ years ago....

  • @danwilson6185
    @danwilson6185 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great job! I'll be ordering those wire holders for my 347! Hey, what engine bay paint did you use? I like the semi-gloss look. Not too flat or to shiny. THANKS!

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, these wire holders are fantastic!
      You're not going to like the answer on the paint..... it's just a Rustoleum 2X Paint and Primer, rattle can job. :)

    I was just thinking about making my own sparkplug wires for my 289, perfect timing for your video to come out haha. Have you looked into the ZRay Engine Crossmember that ties into the lower control arms? Just got mine in yesterday.

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I have seen that crossmember, but I haven't decided on which route I want to go with the crossmember, yet. :)

    • @brandonduke1903
      @brandonduke1903 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AndyKruseChannel Are there other similar or better options? I already had a 3 inch plate I was going to weld to the stock crossmember, but when I saw his attaches to the lower arms as well, I bought the normal one from ZRay and welded the plate to his crossmember. I plan on painting the circle bright red or yellow to make it easier to see as my oil pan is black too.

      @@brandonduke1903 There are other bars out there, but honestly it's lower on my list, so I'm not digging into which options I ultimately want to go with.

  • @jamesshope4087
    @jamesshope4087 ปีที่แล้ว

    You might want to careful about running the 5 and 6 cylinder wires paralel right next to each other because of the firing order. You could have cross firing between the cylinders. On 289s the two to be careful about are cylinders 7 and 8. All of the Ford manuals warn about this happening.

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the heads up.

    • @Mike2Pin
      @Mike2Pin ปีที่แล้ว

      That is true, but at the same time he's also running a lot thicker (insulated) wire so it shouldn't (not that it can't).

    • @AndyKruseChannel
      @AndyKruseChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's how I understand it. But what I am not understanding is are you trying to find that resistor wire? Or are you trying to do something different? This video is about making custom length spark plug wires and you're asking about a 12V source for the coil? This is where I am getting confused. :)
