Just got an msd wire set. Had no idea. They'd need to be crimped. Won't buy um again. Not because I can't do the job, but I've got better things to do. It's a standard v8 set, the length should be a non issue. Now I get to spend an hour on these stupid a** wires.... Thanks for the video. Helpful.
If you thought you were getting a complete set it totally sucks. On the bright side, you can customize those wires to length and what you use on the ends. I'm glad the video is helpful!
CRC silicone spray works excellent for getting the boots on. Spray the wire and boot, they slide right on super easy. Much easier than dielectric grease.
I haven't but it certainly be worth trying. Use plenty of silicone grease and make sure the orientation of the boot is correct would be the two key things I would pay attention too.
the core material and shielding are different then normal cable/ I presume you are talking about RG6 coax? There are different specs for both and the materials used can vary considerably.

If making wires is a problem, look for a specific set cut for your car. Its not that bad to do this. Much harder jobs to do on a car.
Didn't have any lubricants around, but I found out vegetable oil works great! Thanks for the vid

Have you tried sliding the boot on before making the crimp? I wonder that would be easier. I have a small engine that needs a new end installed

So the exposed wire is not metal?? It looks like fiber??
MSD calls it a helically wound wire, it is a winding of a copper alloy conductor around a core. It is fibrous but it is also conductive.
Is there a heavier boot for the coil wire versus the plug wire where it attaches to the distributor cap end ?
There's a variety of different boot that will fit the wire.
