  • Thanks so much for taking the time to watch my very first video! I really appreciate all of the support and encouragement from the online woodworking community.
This week I built an adjustable camera mount for the woodturning bench. I plan to do several more projects at the lathe and I wanted a cheap, sturdy camera mount that was adjustable to achieve a lot of different camera angles.
After doing several searches on Google and TH-cam, I could not find a camera mount that would suit my needs. So I decided to design and build my own and share the process with you.
This mount was built completely from things I had laying around my shop. However, everything used is common and easy to find at any hardware store or home center, except for the ball head, which I bought on Amazon for about $7. In total, I would say that if you went out to buy all of the materials, this project would cost somewhere between $20 and $25, including the ball head.
Mine was built to fit the space I had available but this mount is easily adaptable to any space you have around any tool in your shop, not just a lathe. I'm thinking of building several more to mount around other tools in the shop as well.
Please feel free to ask any questions about this project. I don't have any plans, as I just threw this together on the fly, but I'd be more than happy to help anyone that has an interest in building one for themselves.

excellent work Nate! nice project that will surely come in handy. I like the tray organizer on your shop wall. I have that same apron too. :)

Thanks Mike! The apron is so handy, no more running around looking for my tape or pencil.

Hey Nate. Nice job on the camera mount! Your videos are looking really good bud. The mount gave you some really nice angles for the ring bowl.

Thanks! I was wondering what you used when I saw your pic on IG. I had considered tubing too, but thought I'd try using stuff already on hand.

Welcome to TH-cam. Good Video. LIke the idea.
I too am new TH-cam. So much to learn. Quickly learn how much time and planning this all takes.
Really nice looking logo, fonts and "branding". It is all important.
Looking forward to #2. Also got you on IG, which is my main contact with other Woodworkers.

+July With Fitz cant wait to see what you come up with! Mine was super simple, just looks fancy because of those shiny red knobs, haha. Most of the ones I've seen are just way over-complicated. this one has more adjustability than I expected.
