TMBG basically sits in this strange section of the music landscape adjacent to Weird Al, and all the classic Dr Dimento songs, but also touching into pop, kids television land, and unusual avant-garde artistic works. It's best not to really attempt to make sense of it or to categorize it; just enjoy where the ride takes you.
A friend of mine is a guitar tech for TMBG. He posted a pic to his FB of Weird Al in the audience at the Hollywood Bowl. He's a big fan too apparently.
Love this song, love this band.
Fingertips is a CLASSIC
I remember listening to Flood by They Might be Giants in college. It was fun trying to make up deep meanings in all the songs. Some have clear meanings and some almost seem like strange allegories. This is a great album. TMBG was one of the bands that were sort of a secret for a while. If you knew then you knew. Nothing really like them out there. Then they kid music (my kids oved their songs on Disney) and other things.

💯 This is easily my favorite album of all time! Just to play it through from start to finish, it's perfect! It's original, quirky, fun...nothing will ever top this album for me. I spent countless nights playing the cassette over and over again and it never gets old.
Kind of a weird song selection by them to start with.
Normally it's something like Ana Ng, Birdhouse in your soul, Istanbul, or another radio play song that may or may not have been featured on Tiny Toons.
Totally different, but I know you guys dig The Vandals - you should check out the song "Fourteen". It's something else.
