You need to look at another version of this, but at Anfield (their home stadium) particularly on a European Cup night (the competition most associated with them), I'm not a Liverpool fan but it's hard not to be invested when that happens.
This song originally came from a musical called "Carousel". A Liverpool band Gerry and the Pacemakers recorded it, and it was adopted by the fans as their anthem in the 1960s. They sound even better at their home stadium at Anfield.

It was part of 13/14 pre season tour if I'm not mistaken but Liverpool is one of the most supported teams in the world. The success of the 70's and 80's cemented their place among the greats and now we witnessing the return to glory!

I’ve seen it referred to as a gospel song many times but it is actually a song from the Rogers and Hammerstein musical Carousel and is sung in an almost operatic style by the female lead’s aunt to console her at her husband’s death. It may have been adopted by gospel choirs but it is not a gospel song.

For me the best one was after they won the second leg of the Champions League semi-final in 2019. They were down 3-0 after the first leg and they were pretty much written off. It's still one of the best games I've ever seen and an instant classic sports moment.

Mate am from Liverpool, UK.. i can not watch this without getting goosebumps.. were a passionate people because its been us against the rest even against our own country to the point some of us even feel more foreign than english so we stick together as a city on its own and a lot of fans have nothing else to put their heart into except football because most of us are stuck in poverty poor communities with nothing else to be positive about.. kids are born into it as the passion is passed down through generations, a red team or blue team depending on what our parents support.. kids dream of becoming a footballer and to some its only way to escape so its a big thing to many people here.. personally i lost the passion when i become a man and couldnt bare these models who play now and cry when they fall over haha.. thanks for the love for doing this video and a big shout out to our american cousins !!!

I was never a big Liverpool fan. I liked the club because we (Borussia Dortmund) have a lot of paralelles with you guys. But since Hillsborough and all that happened in the years after it, a little piece of my heart will belong to Liverpool forever. My friend who lives here in South Africa is a huge supporter of Liverpool soccer, when he climbed Mount Everest he left a Liverpool YNWA banner up there. 💙💙

Many people have covered it, but in October 1963 Gerry and the Pacemakers released a cover of the song that shot up to number 1 on the charts. They were from Liverpool and before the end of the year the Liverpool Football Club adopted the song as their anthem and the title as their motto. Ever since they've sung it before every home game. Several other soccer teams later also made the song their amthem.

This game is the biggest crowd any English Premier League Football Club had ever played in front of. It's at the Melbourne Cricket Ground I think. That groundl has a capacity of 150,000! And most of the crowd was Aussie Liverpool fans. I'm a fan too. Wish I was there!

Liverpool is my team, we have sung this song since the 1960s, Gerry Marsden and the Pacemakers were a Liverpool group. The song itself is older it comes from the musical "Carousel". The player you can see close up is Steven Gerrard, he was team captain.
Liverpool at the moment is in Thailand and heading for Singapore.
By the way, at Anfield (Liverpool homeground) they sing this without the music playing. Pure goosebumps.

This song was actually written by Rogers & Hammerstein, American songwriters, for the musical Carousel. Its actually pretty funny how its used across the pond.
Totally forgotten about until Gerry and the pacemakers revamped it. Made it go to UK number 1 and Liverpool made it the most famous anthem in the whole of sport.
Don’t get me wrong, a huge amount of respect to Rogers & Hammerstein. But without Liverpool fans singing it at anfield in the thousands, all together and making people get goosebumps across Europe and the world. It would be another well written song lost in the ages.
