- What is a ureteroscopy? And how can a ureteroscopy be beneficial in treating kidney stones? We asked leading consultant urologist Mr Andrew Ballaro, based in Wellington Platinum Medical Centre in London.

Ive just had it. My stone was 11mm x 7mm. My kidneys output was 37% so - Kidney saved! Kidney output was 57% 1 week later and 75% another week later. I lost 3 kg of weight (reversal of fluid retention) Brilliant. I very much appreciate the doctors skills.
Some Painful urinating like 3/10 no big deal, for 2 days! No drugs were given to me so it’s not that bad.
My Stent had a string on it and I pulled it out 6 days post op. It was a weird thing to do but more funny than nasty. I was completely better when I yanked it out. Stent is annoying but NOTHING compared to a kidney stone, nothing!
Now I drink more water. A lot more.
Thanks for such a comforting answer. Tired of reading all the horror stories on here. Wife is having this done soon. Hope you're doing well.
Had the procedure a number of times. I love the clear explanations by this doctor, sounds simple and straightforward by actually exceptionally well conveyed.
I had this prodecure done 4 days ago (11mm &7mm stones). The only advice I can give you is to not believe everything you see on the internet, each body is different! I was terrified of this procedure thanks to the negative comments I saw on the internet and it turned out to be the opposite. I didn't feel a single percent of pain after the procedure. I felt instant relief! The only annoying thing is the stent... but that's about it! Just pray and leave everything in God's hands and everything will turn out great!
going to hove one done
so worried
I have stone and adrenal tumor very sad
thanks
You make it sound so easy. It's not. There's often a lot of blood and a lot of pain and enough urgency to cause temporary incontinence if you're not always within a stone's throw of the nearest toilet. Stents are not painless, and are not removed under general anesthesia as happens during the ureteroscopy. I'm just being honest. It's a necessary procedure, and technologically advanced and outpatient, yes. But it's not clean and nice and just a walk in the park. If you're having it, be ready for that reality.
Sadly true. I hate stents. The procedure, however, as explained in the video, which I had a couple of times, has always been really OK (when no stent is left). The first 3-4 times urinating hurts. Apart from that, it has always been completely painless. Again, the stent is a whole different story, very inconvenient and painful, in my case. No activity possible, in contradiction with what the medical team is pretending.
Yes I hate how much they lie.
Everyone is different and many people have pain.

U look like John Lithgow doc
I came here to say this! 😂
My procedure was unsuccessful as consultant could not get into my kidney
A stent was inserted and I am to undergo a second urethascopy to remove 2mm and 1mm fragments in my left kidney 😢
This must be done to allow me to donate my kidney altruistically
I am having it done today
I hope it doesn’t damage my kidney
