Thanks for this episode💜. I hope your weekend with the PKW group is relaxing and a much needed escape from reality! As for crafting tips, I keep a bookmark folder full of webpages with quick picture instructions to reference whenever I have to cast on, bind off, or use a not-so-common technique that I never remember how to do. My running list of references include instructions for: tubular b/o, common b/o methods, mattress stitch, brioche 101, common stretchy b/o, and provisional cast-on methods. I often resort to webpages with written instructions for the exact reason you mentioned about videos being a bit cumbersome to navigate. A "Crafting Tips" refresher playlist would be AMAZING.
Love seeing the pictures of all the squares together that you have done so far. 😍 the colour of your Metropolitan pullover looks so nice. Hope you have a great weekend
25 seconds in and you have my subscription!!! came here because "Some Small Things" recommended you. I'm glad she did. I've had to unsubscribe from several other knitting channels in the last week, so I'm thrilled to find your channel today!. I look forward to going back and playing catch up. Thank you for being here.
the heirloom quilt cardigan will be so pretty! I just bought some handdyed tweed DK to make my own because you keep showing all these beautiful squares!
Love the idea of the super quick videos because you're right that the lead up is painful sometimes 😅 Ideas: ladder back jacquard, M1Lp and M1Rp, double central decrease
As a sort of new knitter, I would like some tips for how others work out a pattern with lots of things happening at once and how to track all of it to know where I am, what needs to be done and when. I feel like everyone has their system but no one really talks about what it is or how they track information within the pattern. Thanks! I found your channel a little while ago and am really loving it. Thanks for all you do ❣️💙
I can definitely talk about this one soon and show you all some screenshot (not of details of course!) but this is definitely something that takes time to figure out what works best for you!
So thankful for the episode after this (insert adjective here) week. Your tessellated is gorgeous and I’m so so looking forward to seeing it finished. Have a wonderful weekend with the beautiful women in your group 💖
I love how you’ve styled your Lauder vest! I would probably wear it in a similar way if I made one tbh. For the tutorials, I would definitely be interested in one about catching floats. It seems impossible to me to keep yarn organized for colorwork 😅
Thank you! Thank for acknowledging this craptacular week and trying to give us a sense of peace and calm in the eye of this storm. Many blessings and peace to all! ❤
Thank you for watching and thank you for the kind words. It helped lift my spirits a bit and just lent me some normalcy to a week that felt very surreal and heartbreaking.
Thanks so much for providing some sense of normalcy/fun in what has been a quite unsettling week. I hope you find some joy with your friends this weekend!
Very sad and disturbing times. Thanks for filming anyway! Knitting and watching my favourite knitting podcasts is what calms me down when I am stressed. I think a crisp white or black button up shirt will look perfect with the Lauder vest! Making very short tutorials would be amazing! I agree finding the part where they are getting to the point is annoying. Techniques I have looked up repeatedly and sometimes still do is an Italian and tubular cast on, provisional cast on over a barber cord or spare cord, kitchener and seaming stitches. Also all kinds of buttonholes. Especially doubleknit without cutting yarn. I hope you have the best knitting weekend with friends! I am envious, I want a knitting weekend with friends and a hot tub lol!
Thank you for always watching and such supportive comments! It was a great weekend and just what we needed to recharge while we're all so worried. I love these quick tip suggestions - I'll add them to my list!
I have a book recommendation, not super spicy but really fun autumn, murder mystery vibes, The wicked witches of the midwest by Amanda M Lee. Idk if you've already read them but they're great:)
Thinking of everyone in the US right now. The heirloom cardigan squares are looking really good. I have it on my favourites list but I am not very experienced with colourwork and I heard that the pattern is a bit sparse in terms of instructions so I am hesitating a bit. I've never done colourwork flat. Do you think it would be an OK project for a first time knitting colourwork flat?
I should really address this more fully in an episode soon - there are no instructions on how to do colorwork flat but I have tips for it. I think since the squares are small enough it's a good one to do first because you'll improve quickly, and there really aren't a lot of colorwork flat patterns so I'm not sure it's worth waiting if you think you want to do it! You can also always message me for tips and questions!
@@a_knotty_mess ok i think you've convinced me. i already have yarn for it, and probably a significant amount more than I need so if one or two squares are sacrificial practice ones I will still have plenty of yarn. we are coming into summer in Australia so it might be a nice project to work on through the hotter months to not have a big garment resting on my lap, and then hopefully it would be finished by the time winter comes around.

Love seeing all of your projects! Hope you have a wonderful knit weekend. I really love your hair, it always looks so nice and silky.
Aww thank you - you're the only comment that caught the new do haha - I just got a haircut and she straightened it which I literally never do at home!

Your mom’s cardigan is gorgeous. Love not having to pick up for the button band. It’s in my queue!
Thanks! It was a bit of a slog but I want to make one for me... so clearly not that deterred lol

Oh thank you! This isn't what I wore for pictures but I do like it as a general outfit! I love this tip request - I'll definitely add it to my list
Great idea with shorter videoes, I always forget centered double decrease and gave to look through way to much chatter to just get to the thing :D
This is the one that like 4 people have said! It may just be my first haha
You're going to come back from Knit weekend to Theo knowing how to golf
I screenshot this comment and sent it to Mike hahaha - he appreciated being truly known by my followers lol.

Yak can also give a dark halo to yarn.
Yes I've seen that - this one is just lambs wool though!
Thanks for another great video. This week was hard for sure, hope you guys have a great knit weekend. Yours and Ariel's vids are my favorite ❤
Aww thank you!! We had the best time and we got some lauder pictures together I'll be sharing this week!
Thanks so much for providing some sense of normalcy/fun in what has been a quite unsettling week. I hope you find some joy with your friends this weekend!
