You didn't touch on it, which is completely understandable, but Rod Bramblett is the voice calling the game in the last clip. He was Auburn's radio announcer for many years starting with baseball and coming over to football. He was literally "The Voice of the Auburn Tigers". In 2019, he and his wife were tragically killed in a wreck while sitting at a red light at a busy, and well known intersection in Auburn, Alabama. For us Auburn alumni and fans, this makes the kick-six call even more special. RIP Rod & Paula Bramblett
I grew up with Rod thru high school and Auburn. He was very funny, smart and kind as well as talented. I will never forget his incredible, hilarious Phil Donahue impression in a high school skit. We lost more than just a great announcer when he and Paula were killed. I would like to suggest Jeanne Robertson's 'Got a Second' and 'Would You Hug a Bama Fan' for another, different kind of Auburn storyteller.
As an Auburn fan, this was one of the greatest moments of my life. Also, the game itself as a whole was an absolute heavyweight fight. VERY intense from start to finish.
As an Alabama fan, and I mean this with the utmost respect, fuck you. For real though I wish you guys the best, and I hope freeze works out. The best seasons are ones where we are both competing for the championship and get to face off with all of the stakes on the line.
@birch5757 The strip fumble right before halftime by Nick Fairley is what I am assuming you mean. I didn't know Auburn would win because I didn't think the refs would allow Auburn to win. They had already thrown some bullcrap flags on Auburn... especially the personal foul on Fairley for celebrating a play in a way that is done all the time, after he got his first sack I think.
I will always have a soft spot for the 2005 game against Uga too. That one will always be a fav. The way it was 4th and long and Brandon Cox hit Devin Aromashodu was just special. And the heads up play by my favorite Auburn receiver of all time, Courtney Taylor, to recover the fumble in the end zone.
I was a student from 2009 and graduated in 2014 at Auburn. Member of the marching band every year but 2013. This was my last home game as a Auburn Student and I will never forget this game and rushing the field to celebrate beating that other team. Great memories of my time at Auburn.
Senior year 2004, I went to Jacksonville and my Dawgs finally beat Florida after six straight years of losing. It was Halloween and the party that night was unforgettable. I don't think it tops beating Alabama and rushing the field but I know we all love beating Alabama 😅
The chances of him making the kick weren’t good, but the reason for attempting it is that it still gave them a better chance than a 40+ yard Hail Mary. And what *actually* happened was extremely unlikely so it really didn’t factor into the decision at all (just like the slim chances of a pick six wouldn’t factor into the decision to throw a Hail Mary)
Thank you for pointing out the possibility of a pick six. People question the kick because of what happened, but only because of happened. The possibility of a fumble, interception, or worst of all- qb injury because of how long he has to sit back- is just too much to risk. Normally the kick either makes it, or it's overtime. The kick was a smart call... the coverage was not.
Another part of the problem was that Saban did NOT want to go into overtime. They were ahead before the half and auburn was coming back. Auburn had all of the momentum and Alabama was getting tired
It was crazy. All my friends were Alabama fans and they always rubbed it in everyone’s face about how good they were. Then they lost and were so salty for months. It was amazing to see them shut up lol
The Alabama coach had said in an interview, he did not think he could beat Auburn in Overtime. That’s why I decided to kick a field goal. Personally I am not a college football fan, that statement was power. He put the blame totally on himself and not the players. Nick won my respect when I heard that interview. On a light note, was that the game an Auburn stole Nick’s hat off his Head?
Heh. Pro-level kickers have gotten relatively better at kicks over 50. College kickers are notoriously unreliable, and (with few exceptions) hitting a 57 yarder would be extremely unlikely for most. Alabama only attempted the kick because time was going to run out.
Yea. Basically 57 yard attempts in college are pretty rare, and they're rare because it's very hard, in many cases impossible, for a lot of college kickers. I don't know the numbers, but that would be my guess.
@@davidgoodman4208 Yeah and it kinda explains just how few college kickers actually make it into the NFL. You have to be an absolutely next level incredible kicker to even have a shot at being drafted.
Had a coach in college who played for alabama from 2009-2011. We had a special teams meeting and this was played on what not to do. As soon as a single frame of this clip played he walked straight out of the room. This was in 2018 and he was still sick to his stomach even though it had happened 5 years prior 🤣
Lifelong Auburn fan here and this is the greatest play I've ever seen and I watched it live as it happened. I was losing my mind as Chris Davis ran his ass off down the sideline. This was one of the most fun seasons to ever watch, it was amazing
What makes this play even crazier is that arguably the bigger miracle happened two weeks before that kept Auburn in contention for the kick-six to matter. The Georgia bulldogs had made a 21 point 4th quarter comeback to take a one-point lead with under a minute to-go. Auburn was backed up inside their own 25 and had a 4th & 18 led by a quarterback who threw less than 10 passes a game... Under pressure, he throws up a desperate heave directly to three Georgia defenders with no Auburn receivers in range to make a play on the ball. The game was over. Until the defenders fought with each other and tipped the ball up. And I guess that infamous Jordan-Hare Voodoo took care of the rest
for me it's the announcing that does it. Best call I've ever heard, the "AUBURN IS GONNA WIN THE FOOTBALL GAME" is just so insane, Bramblett was a legend
Y’all need to check out the full broadcast of the end of the game. As the students storm the field, the commentators react, and all hell breaks lose. I grew up going to the Iron Bowl, and can still vividly remember every second of the end of this game.
How? Auburn essentially had FSU's playbook. Their QB coach Damian Craig was at FSU the year before and he was relaying Jimbo's hand signals to the defense. That's the only way they were able to stop FSU's offense for a little while. That's why FSU started blocking Auburn's vision with towels from the sidelines. As soon as they did, FSU owned Auburn. No way can you say, with a straight face, that Auburn deserved to win the title.
Alabama had over 100 yards more in total offense than Auburn, not sure that Auburn "deserved" to win as you put it but they did. They had beaten Georgia on a miracle in an earlier game and it took another miracle for the them to get past Alabama. Their luck ran out against FSU, unfortunately for them. I will say the info from Jeff Spain above is interesting. It took a miracle for Alabama not to win 3 national titles in a row, it is still disappointing even now.
@@jeffspain3613 Yeah you can't tell me they didn't change the play book since he left. Are you serious. You obviously know nothing about football. There is some major conspiracy theories going on in your head. Coaches change plays and calls week to week pal.
I've watched sports over 50 years from my childhood. This is the most amazing play of all time!! Context for this one is key. Amazing, unbelievable turn of events. AND it's good for a VOL fan to watch these teams beat each other up.
This is the greatest individual play in college football history in my opinion. From the history, circumstances, and all it took to even get to that game. For the game to get to that situation and for it to end like it did was insane. The call, the atmosphere everything was perfect. The only thing that could’ve made it better would’ve been it being the national championship but you can argue this is better.
I’ll never forget sitting on my couch late at night with my dad and watching in absolute disbelief together. I’ll never forget and am grateful I got to experience it with my dad
Auburn's library burnt down and Steve Spurrior was quoted as saying "how sad, all those coloring books went uncolored". Love college football rivalries
I don't know if there's a good video compilation, but the Bear Bryant comment about "that cow college" reminded me of a coach with some hilarious cracks on rival teams - Steve Spurrier. Just a quick one: On a fire at the Auburn football dorm that burned 20 books “The real tragedy was that 15 hadn’t been colored yet.”
I remember watching this game and I know it is such a simple call but just watching Davis come off that sideline at the 45 on the return and seeing 50 yards of nothing but field and hearing 'THERE GOES DAVIS' and then as he crosses into the endzone you hear "AUBURN IS GONNA WIN THE FOOTBALL GAME!" I was absolutely stunned, I could not believe what I was watching. It was the most watched regular season game that year, 13 million people watched the last half hour of that game.
One of these guys talked and laughed over my favorite part of the call, which was the abrupt change in tenor of Rod Bramlett's voice when he saw Davis was clear of defenders: "THERE GOES DAVIS!"
I don't jump out of my seat very often, but I went nuts at the end of that game. I had no skin in the game. Bama was so dominant at that time (not that they suck now), and that Auburn team just seemed to be riding a wave. It was an ansolute classic.
Subscribed. War Eagle from Auburn, Alabama. If you guys ever get a chance, go to an Iron Bowl in Auburn. You won't regret it. Auburn is a truly special place.
These teams are both from Alabama so husbands & wives that are opposing fans/graduates sleep in separate beds the week of this game .. That's how deep this rivalry is !
Not too long ago, 2:00 wasn't much time at all. It was kind of rare for a team to make a comeback in that time. Offenses got pretty wild starting in the 2000s, and started spreading throughout all of college football A lot of SEC teams didn't start going that way until around 2010ish
As was said, the distance was an issue (especially since he'd missed closer) but the thinking was - if he hit it, they win; if he misses, they just go to overtime. It's better than attempting to throw a pass and having it get intercepted and ran back.
I was driving up i75 to Atlanta from South Georgia when this happened. The highway wasn’t crowded at all, but you could see for quite a distance, a total of maybe 12 cars. The radio broadcast of course was epic, and when they got close to the end zone every brake-light on the highway spontaneously lit up and stayed on for a few seconds. A bunch of SEC football fans on the edge of their seat … while driving.
MSU has a lot of magical finishes I think are worth watching. Miracle at the big house is also a great finish to a famous rivalry that ended on a special teams play like the kick 6. The Michigan State Spartans defeated their in state rival Michigan Wolverines while never having a lead before the clock hit 0:00 MSU vs Iowa in the 2015 Big Ten championship, it was a defensive struggle and MSU's final drive took, 13 minutes, 22 plays, 4 4thd down conversions, and a 2nd effort push to cross the goal line. "Little giants" where MSU beat top ranked Notre Dame on a trick play in overtime, scoring a TD instead of a tying FG (which would have lost the game if they didn't convert).
I have been attending Auburn games for almost 60 years and I have never seen a play like that. And if I were to attend another 60 years I don't believe that I would see another one. An amazing experience.
I talked to my dad (AU, ‘63) after Ricardo Lewis’s miraculous catch to beat UGA 2 weeks before. “I doubt we’ll ever see anything like that again,” he said. It took two weeks.
I'll never forget watching this game at my parents house when I came home from college for thanksgiving lol. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, especially since I had that context as I was watching it. One of the best college football games I've ever seen
Last night we did a record of Alabama vs Georgia 2018 Championship game. Will be up on the Channel next Friday 😀 Hoping you’ll enjoy that one just a tad more
that game was awesome. They had to come back 14 points against maybe one of the best Alabama teams ever. if they would have won their QB would have won the Heisman. Hell, he threw a 99 yard TD in the first half. It's hard to explain how Huge the Iron Bowl is in Alabama. it's like international football but you live next door to them. I was travelling home that night on I95 listening to the game on my phone. I got to hear the radio call they always play. Damn near wrecked. too bad they lost the National Championship to FSU by 13 seconds... War Damn Eagle!
I was a 12 year old Auburn fan conceived after we won the 2000 iron bowl, i listened to the prayer at Jordan Hare on a truck radio in the middle of the woods on a hunting trip, and i dropped down on my knees and cried in my living room during the kick six it was one of the most exciting moments of my life
As an Auburn Alum from Tuscaloosa, that may have been more satisfying than the Cam's season. The next year when my brother in law, a huge Bama fan asked me what I thought would happen I said "I don't know but I bet Saban won't argue for time back on the clock". My favorite two teams in CFB Auburn and anyone playing Alabama.
The idea behind the 57 yard kick was simple make it and we win. If we miss were most likely going to overtime. Mathematically the odd's were on Saban's side of those two outcomes with a less than 1% chance most likely of Auburn being able to actually field and return the kick for a TD. Or simply put it was a gamble that ended horribly.
If you like these Secret Base Rewind videos, there is a baseball one on the 2011 Cardinals and their World Series win that is fantastic. The covers the last 2 months of the regular season and just how unlikely it was for the Cardinals to even make the playoffs to begin with. I remember watching the series live and as a huge Cardinal fan, I can not remember a more exciting time in my sports fandom.
Watched this live in a house full of Bama fans... it was pretty epic. Now, I'm not a fan of either but it was definitely entertaining to see the freak out. They had someone back to return it and I remember thinking... damn, man. That's a long FG. He better not be short lol
Regarding the reasoning behind the kick, I think Saban possibly weighed up penalty chances. Offside on Auburn during the kick would have given them an extra 5 and an untimed down, making either a 2nd kick or hail mary easier, had the initial one not gone through and they accepted said penalty. The key part of the play was the timeout by Auburn to get Chris Davis back to return it as he was their kick off and punt returner all season, but would not have normally been there on a FG attempt because of how unlikely a short kick is and that a missed kick in most other situations would result in a turnover on downs and better field position for Auburn's O. This literally was a perfect storm.
Auburn took out the the field goal defense team and put in the punt return team. (which to fair is mostly the same players) but they played it like a punt return and not a field goal attempt.
You knew you have built a strong ass team. When beating that team is just as big of a accomplishment as winning the national championship. A lot may say im wrong, but when you talk to fans from a different team that did beat alabama. And then go on to win the national championship. You when hear them talk about how they beat alabama most then you actually hear them talk about the national championship game.
And to make this moment even more cherished, the announcer and of this historical call, and his wife, sadly lost their lives due to an intoxicated driver. May they rest in peace and War Eagle!
@@golf1886 The wreck happened around 6pm on a Saturday evening after dinner. Maybe you shouldn't talk about things you know nothing about. You sound foolish.
As your loyal viewer and a born and raised Bama fan, I’m going to play this and thumbs up but I am going to walk my dog while it plays. This hurts so bad.
Thank you 🙏 Really appreciate that! We’ve got a poll on Discord at the moment which has a couple of Bama games included. Hopefully at least one of them has a better outcome 🤞
@@DNReacts none is worse than this. This is my version of a stoppage time goal moments before the whistle. This just…when Saban sent the kicker out everyone in my family lost their minds. He is the greatest coach behind the Bear but Christ on a cracker what was he thinking.
Foster received many death threats after this game as this game, never played in NFL, and returned to Alabama for Law School. What Saban did by replacing him for that 57 yard FG is like what happens in NFL when a kicker has a bad game, and can be released and sign a new kicker. For this play I forget what Saban said in post-game about the kicker, if he kicked long FG's in practice before. Even if he kicked 60 yarders in practice, the last second of biggest game of season in Iron Bowl, all the pressure on him you can say is unfair. Years earlier on MNF the Ravens returned a FG before Halftime ( Ray Lewis Crushing block)! Before that not everyone knew you could return Field Goal kicks, NFL & college having different rules too, but Auburn clearly did (I'd assume both teams did) and Alabama had mostly lineman on field to block for the kicker, where Davis and Auburn had more athletic/faster players on field.
I remember where I was when this happened. I had watched the other half of Auburn's story, FSU beating rival UF to go undefeated on the way to the National Championship. Afterwards we went out to eat. This game was on. I went to use the bathroom and saw the score, the tie, the clock review... I couldn't believe they didn't want to go for it. Alabama would surely win in OT. And then it happened. Their second miracle of the season which lead them to the Championship against my FSU team. And that same Chris Davis who ran the ball back to get them there couldn't stop Big Kelvin Benjamin in the end zone.
Someone catching a short field goal is rare enough let alone it being returned for a touchdown to win a game and add to that to win a rivalry game of top 5 ranked teams. I've been watching college football for over 30 years and I've never even seen my own team catch a missed field goal. I've never even seen them send someone back to try.
I grew up in an Auburn family (though I actually attended Georgia Tech) and I’ve continued to follow Auburn football because of how much it means to the rest of my family. I remember watching that iron bowl. Being a Tech fan, I’m well versed that I never let optimism creep into my football and the whole game, I was waiting for Bama to open up what I knew they could do. It was a pleasant surprise when they had so much trouble with the kicking game and when Auburn kept things so close. Going into the kick, I told my wife that I figured the game was over, either Bama would hit the FG or take the win in OT (I couldn’t imagine Auburn beating both Bama and u(sic)GA (who I despise more than anyone else) in the same season). Watching that play, I was seated up until the returner made his cut at the sideline; I then jumped up and was starting something like “what the heck!” repeatedly. After the play, I was leaving against the wall trying to catch my breath (I’m asthmatic) just waiting for the replay booth to show he stepped out or the refs to manufacture a holding call. I remember sinking back into my seat when the touchdown was official. We had watched the game live, but I had forgotten my parents always DVR’d the game so they could ff through commercials. I called them immediately after the game, my dad answered the phone with “Don’t say a word” and immediately hung up. I had to wait about an hour before they called me back so we could discuss what had happened. Iirc, both of my brothers were at their house watching with them (we lived 9 hours away so were unable to do so). Just an amazing day that almost made up for me having to watch that Athens “school” beat my Yellow Jackets earlier in the day. Almost.
How on earth can you not watch the Oklahoma vs Texas 2021 game? Best rivalry in college sports. The stadium is split half and half. Half Texas fans, half OU fans.
My aunt and my brother are huge Alabama fans. They still will not talk about this game lol. As for me i found it hilarious to watch, especially since I am the only Texas A&M fan in the family, and Bama routinely runs over my Aggies.
Its not clear if Saban (the Alabama head coach and arguably the greatest college football coach of all time - this is coming from an auburn fan/student btw) didn’t account for a return being a possibility or he thought it was such a low chance it was less risky than throwing a long pass that could be intercepted by what wouldve been at least 4 auburn players in coverage in a hail Mary situation. They also made the mistake of putting their heaviest package (players on the field for a given situation) in to block for the protection to prevent auburn from blocking the kick (longer kicks need to come off the kickers foot at a low angle to go further so theyre easier to block) so once davis had the ball he wasnt returning against the usual speedy skill position players he sees on a punt or kick off. It was massive slow offensive linemen vs the best punt returner in the country.
I am an Auburn alumnus. Thank you for watching and reacting to this. The Iron Bowl is the annual game between the Auburn Tigers and University of Alabama Crimson Tide. I have been a Tiger my whole life. My family is AU. Half of my cousins are Bama and half AU. We live, work and play together all year. The the Iron Bowl comes. One day a year, families all over the state are divided. That’s Thanksgiving weekend too. The Iron Bowl is always the Saturday after thanksgiving. 57 yarders are tough. Our kicker usually can hit it 40+ yards away. But 50+ is hard. Daniel Carson is in the NFL and played at AU. We called him legatron. We all said Need a second Saban? It was meme gold!!
Hey lads, I’m an Auburn fan and I still get goose bumps and tears in my eyes watching this. What the video doesn’t discuss is the kicker who attempted the kick was making them from 60 in warm ups 3.5 hours earlier. However, the temp had dropped about 20 degrees F and he was hitting those 60 yarders after about 20 kicks at differing lengths. So he was really warmed up. Now he had to come in cold and try it. I was surprised he hit it 56 yards to be honest. Also not mentioned was Auburn subbed more than just Chris Davis. They replaced the team on the field with the punt return team. So when Davis starts right the entire return team knew he was going to go left and they were able to setup the blocks differently. If you can find the original CBS call, Gary Danielson discusses that and a few other things, but hearing Rod Bramblett from Auburn radio doing the call is even more magical. Thanks again and War Eagle!
Being an Auburn fan and being there at that game is something that I'll never forget. I was sitting at the other end of the stadium where Davis would return the ball. I can still remember it to this day, I was thinking about getting my phone out for a photo or video, video recording would have been terrible with a flip phone, but it probably would not have been a very good video since the place was going nuts, people were jumping up and down in the stands and it was so loud. Absolutely loved it. After the game we rushed the field and I did take a photo of being on the 50-yard line. I haven't been to another college football game since. I mean, how do you top that.
This was one of the most amazing finishes in college football history, for sure, but don't let the amazing finish overshadow the rest of the game. The game, overall, was fantastic, with Auburn mounting an impressive comeback to tie the game. Watch the whole game. It's just a great game from start to finish. The other thing to remember is that if Nick Saban had just kept his mouth shut, the clock would have run out, the game would have ended regulation in a tie, and Alabama would have almost certainly beat Auburn in overtime. But, because Nick Saban pitched a tantrum on the sidelines and demanded a second be added onto the clock, that's what led to the dramatic Kick Six finish.
One further bit of context that is rather important...the Alabama line was made up of special teamers who were good at blocking but had little or no experience in covering kick returns, such as evading blockers or tackling. That's a big reason why Davis made it into the clear so quickly.
That is one key point that pissed me off. He really had no chance of making that kick and they put absolutely no one on the field capable of covering the return. Just the dumbest play ever. As soon as he caught it I knew he was gonna go all the way back 🤬 lol
Before coach Nick Saban was hired at Alabama they went through a decade of sucking Every team goes through a few yrs of ups & downs . But with Saban bama has been the New England Patriots of college FB .
Sorry, but the greatest ending to a college football game is the 1982 game between Stanford and Cal. With eight seconds left, Stanford kicked a field goal to go up 20-19. Stanford's following kickoff to Cal was returned for a winning touchdown when the Standford band came on field before the game ended and the Cal player weaved through the crowd to score the TD.
A 57 yard field goal is very very unlikely in college, but still more likely than some kind of lateral play or a hail mary, and it's WAY less likely that one gets returned for a touchdown.
@DN Reacts I'm stoked you guys finally saw this game, one of the most legendary moments in CFB history. Personally, I still think there is a crazier and less likely single play in CFB history and its the "Trouble with the Snap", there's a Secret Base video about it.
My father and i were coming back from my grandparents house and we lost signal for 30 seconds. We come back in range to hear the last seconds of Davis' run. It was stunning
This game ending is more insane if you understand that most long term football fans had never even seen a missed field goal being returned or run back for any yards at all and didn't even know it was a legal play. It was shocking to see it unfold.
@MustacheDLuffy I remember Peanut Tillman returning one too. But he is right about it being such a rare play. Especially in college because there just aren't as many long FG attempts of like 52+ in college because there aren't that many kickers with the leg to even try it.
I legit woke up from a nap and watched only this play haha shit was actually nutty. I thought I was watching a highlight reel tbh then I realized I watch the craziest end to an American football game ever
People gave Nick Saban a lot of shit for his decision to kick it. Alabamians love to scrutinize every decision a coach makes in this game in particular every year. To be fair to Saban, kicks are seen as having little to no risk. Blocking a kick is rare and returning a kick is even more rare. And with one second left, they would have to return it for a touchdown. Adam Griffith was said to have made 60 yd kicks in practice, so they thought he at least could put it out of play. Apparently they coached him during the timeout that whatever happens, he could not kick it at a low enough angle to be blocked. They were okay with a missed kick, but a blocked kick behind the line of scrimmage could give auburn the chance to scoop and score on that play. Ironically, the high angle is probably the reason it stayed in play.
Auburn fan. I was driving back from a job and could only listen to the bama broadcast. I nearly wrecked screaming. I can still hear the disbelief in Eli Gold's voice. Also, you had to be a student to understand Bramlett's comment "They're not gonna keep em off the field tonight".

I’d say in college a 57 yard kick has a 30-40% chance of going through. A proven kicker who’s done it before can make it 60% of the time

Bama fan here. Couldn't believe that the last five minutes went downloke it did.
10 years later, it still stings!
It’s the chance you have to take. Even with a small risk factor the risk is still there.
Best data I could find looks like around a 10% chance from 57 yards in college.
I feel like they should have just gone ahead and thrown a Hail Mary to the corner of the end zone
I remember watching this live. It's still one of the craziest sports moments I've ever personally witnessed.
Yep. Two weeks prior, it was the Ricardo Louis TD against uga. I watched both live and went crazy. WDE!
Still get goosebumps watching it, hearing the commentators...seeing it happening live was absolutely mind blowing.
I saw that shit LIVE on tv and I was 14 at the time
I don’t know the percentages, but a 57 yard field goal is really tough. Thanks for watching this! I thoroughly enjoy watching Alabama get beat. 😄
You don’t get much pleasure then😂😂. We build dynasties. Y’all build envy.

It was a emotional season for sure. Just thinking 2 weeks earlier on the 4th and 18 that our season is over to this.
ive seen that play 100 times and still get chills
Even 10 years later, I get chills watching this clip.
bruh it dont feel like 10 years old lmaoo
for me it's the announcing that does it. Best call I've ever heard, the "AUBURN IS GONNA WIN THE FOOTBALL GAME" is just so insane, Bramblett was a legend
Alabama fan here, watching this game was the most shocking thing I've ever seen. Every Alabama fan I knew didn't speak for days
I'd rather go through the national title losses again than relive this game.
Y’all need to check out the full broadcast of the end of the game. As the students storm the field, the commentators react, and all hell breaks lose. I grew up going to the Iron Bowl, and can still vividly remember every second of the end of this game.
I'm an Alabama fan. That play was devasting and awesome all in one. Auburn deserved to win that game and the national title that year.
@@jeffspain3613 I did not know that.

As an Auburn fan. For that year. The national championship was played in Auburn Alabama against Alabama.
the best iron bowl of all time in my opinion!

Funny😂😂😂😂
I have to rewatch this over and over and over! I'll never get enough of this video LMAO 😂
You also missed the fact these schools are both in Alabama and HATE one another. It’s one of the biggest rivals in college football.
Jordan Hare stadium has the best home field advantage in football. The amount of missed field goals from other teams there is insane.
I don't know if there's a good video compilation, but the Bear Bryant comment about "that cow college" reminded me of a coach with some hilarious cracks on rival teams - Steve Spurrier. Just a quick one: On a fire at the Auburn football dorm that burned 20 books
“The real tragedy was that 15 hadn’t been colored yet.”
The Auburn/Alabama fan reactions to this game are great too.
I'm an Alabama fan, 41 years old and this was by far the worst loss I've ever experienced. I'd rather relive the National Title losses than this one.
@@undie3x7 I get it. Greatest rivalry in football.
As a college football fan the hair on my neck stands up everytime I watch that play.

As if no teeth isn't enough. 🤣
AJ McCarron plays for the St Louis BattleHawks in the XFL now.
These teams are both from Alabama so husbands & wives that are opposing fans/graduates sleep in separate beds the week of this game ..
That's how deep this rivalry is !
Not too long ago, 2:00 wasn't much time at all. It was kind of rare for a team to make a comeback in that time. Offenses got pretty wild starting in the 2000s, and started spreading throughout all of college football
A lot of SEC teams didn't start going that way until around 2010ish
As was said, the distance was an issue (especially since he'd missed closer) but the thinking was - if he hit it, they win; if he misses, they just go to overtime. It's better than attempting to throw a pass and having it get intercepted and ran back.
That play still gives me goosebumps
I work at Auburn University. That stadium is literally 50 foot from my office door.
Best bumper sticker ever..."Bama, got a sec?"
YES FINALLY I know you guys are gonna love the iron bowl
I was driving up i75 to Atlanta from South Georgia when this happened. The highway wasn’t crowded at all, but you could see for quite a distance, a total of maybe 12 cars. The radio broadcast of course was epic, and when they got close to the end zone every brake-light on the highway spontaneously lit up and stayed on for a few seconds. A bunch of SEC football fans on the edge of their seat … while driving.
Also: This is the greatest AU game I ever saw. I cried like a baby at the end.
My favorite - thanks guys! I can’t wait for this season!
MSU has a lot of magical finishes I think are worth watching.
Miracle at the big house is also a great finish to a famous rivalry that ended on a special teams play like the kick 6. The Michigan State Spartans defeated their in state rival Michigan Wolverines while never having a lead before the clock hit 0:00
MSU vs Iowa in the 2015 Big Ten championship, it was a defensive struggle and MSU's final drive took, 13 minutes, 22 plays, 4 4thd down conversions, and a 2nd effort push to cross the goal line.

@DNReacts 2nd & 26 will be my favorite down ever played in all of football. I completely lost my mind
that game was awesome.
I was a 12 year old Auburn fan conceived after we won the 2000 iron bowl, i listened to the prayer at Jordan Hare on a truck radio in the middle of the woods on a hunting trip, and i dropped down on my knees and cried in my living room during the kick six it was one of the most exciting moments of my life
Still gives me goosebumps watching that.
Watched this live while putting up our Christmas tree. Both my wife and I were speechless. The Iron Bowl is must watch tv.
He shouldn’t have been driving drunk. It makes the call worse for me.

One of the Greatest Plays in Sports history.
Auburn was lucky that year until the Florida state game.
Love this, this is brilliant, thanks for the comment Marina!

I’m a LSU fan and I get chills every time I watch that clip. One of the greatest moments ever in college football.
Something that was left out Alabama left their big guys on the field and no one with speed which hindered the tackle angles for stopping Davis
Before coach Nick Saban was hired at Alabama they went through a decade of sucking
Every team goes through a few yrs of ups & downs . But with Saban bama has been the New England Patriots of college FB .
The 2013 national championship game is very underrated. Recommend watching it soon

Hi Michael, we covered this one today, up in the playlist, was a complete shock to us as we had no idea what was about to unfold

This game ending is more insane if you understand that most long term football fans had never even seen a missed field goal being returned or run back for any yards at all and didn't even know it was a legal play. It was shocking to see it unfold.
As a Chicago Bears fan who grew up on Hester I beg to differ
