Great tips! We’ve rented a car in Cabo for many years and truly appreciate the freedom it provides. We drive throughout the Cabo, San Jose, Todo Santos areas daily. Another tip is all intersections with or without stop signs are considered 4 way rolling stops for all vehicles especially throughout Cabo. Watch for one way roads as they are not marked. If uncertain, pause and look at the direction vehicle are parked. Be aware of motorcycles as they do not follow any type of road rules and dodge in and around traffic.
Yeah… We rented a Jetta as well and hit a giant speedbump at about 50 mph. I’m pretty sure I got some air. How there was no damage to the vehicle is beyond me. 😅
I do cactus right off the plane. Cheap and easy and they dont scam. I too get the Jetta so its super cheap for me to leave San Jose Del Cabo for a day trip to Balandra Bay in La Paz. You covered everything except fr the warning avoid local car rentals in either CS or SJDC. They will claim you damaged the car and scam you...every single time. Stick with known reputable rental companies like Hertz Avis or Cactus etc
@@cindyheartsz Credit card? No exceptions yes? Absolutely but that's every car rental nowadays. No deposit. Your credit card number is all the deposit they need. If you wreck the car damages go direct to credit card for billing so need for a deposit. I paid 50US per day denied their insurance all is covered booked for a long time...no worries
@@Nicole.Sisson I only do 4 months per year at my condo but as its on the corridor I require a car for freedom and ease of travel. Cactus has never given me troubles and treat me like gold. Cold cerveza waiting right as you leave the airport to their office there. #Reputable
Yes, we kept it for the whole trip and used it a few times when we stayed in Cabo. It was nice to have our own car for the ATV excursion vs taking the shared shuttle. We also used it to check out Flora Farms which would have been a really expensive Uber.
@@cindyheartsz yes that's standard. paid the week in advance (cheaper that way) and i think the hold on my AMEX was $2500 which cleared as soon as i returned the vehicle
We used American Express, but most premium travel cards will have some kind of rental car coverage. You still have to get the mandatory liability coverage in Mexico.
I’m still confused on rental insurance.. can you please elaborate? I’m going there the end of the month. I do have my own personal car insurance in CA and my credit car offers liability. They want me to purchase an insurance there .. which and should I ? Thank you soo much
If you book through Cactus the required liability insurance in Mexico is covered otherwise you will see it as an additional cost with other companies. No credit card insurance will provide the Mexican liability insurance that is required. Hope that helps.
@@Nicole.Sisson , I also would like to get a collusion insurance. Do you know if my personal insurance will covered ? Or… to cover the other car in case of collusion
@@ishmaeloj697 You'll Have to check with your insurance provider and if you want the peace of mind you can always get the full coverage that they over.
I tried renting a car for ace rental company at the airport and they tried charging me a 2 thousands dollar deposit… does that sound right or were they trying to overcharge me for being American?
I second everything you said. I always rent from Cactus rental car when I’m in San Jose del Cabo. I like the freedom to do and go where I want to go. I’m not afraid to say NO so sales/scams NEVER work on me.
Do you plan on visiting Mexico in the near future and will you be renting a car? ✈️ 🚗😁

We did not have time to check out Todos Santos but would love to on the next trip. Those are also great things to keep in mind! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

Lol ya those speed bumps really come out of nowhere! 🤣
Thanks for sharing that experience. Looks fun!
We had a great trip!! 😁
Good vid.
Went for a little ride over those topes
Can you tell by how much the camera moved? 🤣
Cactus Car Rental is the best - No hidden fees. Close to the airport.
Agreed!! Great experience with them. 🙂
Always rent a car when visiting Cabo!
😁👌❤️

How hard is it to find parking in Cabo’s?
Quick question , is our AAA car insurance will work in Cabo Mexico or do we have to buy they car insurance
I'm not familiar with AAA coverage, but if you rent through Cactus the price that they quote has everything that you will need!
Excellent video! I would add don’t leave anything visible inside the car when you leave it (I’m Mexican)
Lol Great advice anywhere you go.
so which insurance should I get because on the website they have like 6 of them? what should I be looking for?
We opted out of any additional coverages, and just used the third party liability that was included in the price.
Tip the gas station staff , is it like old time USA where they pump your gas , wash windows , and. Check your oil ?
We always do!! 😊
Did you keep car for entire trip? I was hoping to drop off after La Paz but not sure if they have different pick up/drop offs

SIXT was by far the best company i used in Los Cabos. Got great little car (free upgrade) for $22 a day WITH insurance
Hey! Did they make you leave a deposit on a credit card?

I think you need a credit card to put on file.
