Your second channel idea sounds EXCELLENT!! Brilliant idea of an unfiltered Countryfile, by farmers, for farmers! (and anyone else who wants to learn about the problems faced by the industry)👍 Topics could include: - Used machinery prices - Ukraine affecting future food security and prices - The Environment agency and ditch clearing etc. - Brexit affecting prices - Fert and red diesel prices - Farming in the press - Rewilding grants and how this affects UK ag. industry Hope these help 👍 Great video as ever
"...by farmers, for farmers!" Hang on, what about all the other non-farmers who would make up your subscriptions too ? Its an excellent idea, and notwithstanding its on TH-cam, it will be straight from those working the land, without any billionaire media owner involved !! Can't wait.
Interesting video brilliant idea, Would you ever have a Claas tractor? We need to get the message to townies that farming is not just a 9-5 driving a tractor, it long hours day-night calfing, lambing, dosing animals tractor work, etc and that the prices of everything are going up, therefore, paying the extra in supermarkets help but most importantly buying local produce.
Some of the issues that gov. are reluctant to meet head-on ie. vote loosers , TB in cattle and its real economic costs, can the decline in bee populations be reversed with spray bans, the decline in the small local abattoirs under the huge increase in red tape and the big one, world food production standards, life after the single payment system. The problem is these are very big topics to explain and get across in the time available. Good luck Olly, lets hope the powers at be don't sensor to much.
Excellent video feeling about 99% feeling about 99% today niece been over went for a meal she had a few drinks went close shopping went close shopping wow Just celebrating her birthday
Great idea for a new channel/blog Olly. It would be really interesting to hear other farmers successes and problems in different parts of the UK. I do enjoy your field walks and crop updates. Get the 360 out and find that water trough pipe . . . . quick fix if the neighbour is correct!
Life on farms of all sizes especially small family ones and how farmers adapt to conditions will be interesting. I bet you turn up some real gems of characters. Just returned from rugby tour to Gloucester lovely drop of rain over there this morning dry as a bone in kent 😢
There’s a few really good TH-camrs and content about shiny metal and day in the life of the farm , how about looking at agricultural training and agricultural colleges both arable and livestock.Would be interesting to get an insight and to show people what goes into agronomy, we often see them and people talk about them but not really see what and how they do things, buiness management and diversification.
Pleased you had a bit of rain still not a drop here in Kent and another dry week forecast 😂 loving the Claas stuff what an amazing place it is I would be like a child in a sweet shop!

Good idea for new program, maybe similar to the old Farming program before countryfile and therefore in support of the industry ( unlike countryfile) then the non farming viewers will have a better understanding of the industry, presented in an unbiased clear open way. A great way to promote our products to our customers, definitely needs to be across the board all sectors to give the whole story.
Jim, do you follow Harry's Farm (Harry Metcalfe)? He's doing a pretty good job of educating the general public already, but he's a bit too PC for my liking.
Love the idea of the new channel. If your keen for a perspective from the machinery dealer side I’d be more then happy to help. Good luck lads we are all behind you.
Your new weekly vlog could bring back essential news that wouldnt normally get airtime on countryfile, and it would be nice to see some innovative farming coming through, such as Nexat and autonomous machines, and gene improved seeds.😉👍
Fantastic blog Olly, interesting stuff from your Class visit - what a place!! The proposed channel with Steven sounds awesome 👏 Interesting experiments your carrying out in your fields. 🚜👍
I’d like to see the full range of farming from the big arable to the small hobby farms and everything in between contractors, farmers , farm workers , farm managers , it sounds like a fantastic idea and I can’t wait to watch
Olly, you need a shed like Claas have got for all your kit and classic tractors. Just make sure to park the 1200 at the lowest end so that the oil doesn't run everywhere. New farming channel sounds great, why not get machinery dealers and suppliers involved, sure they would like some free advertising. Just dont involve the BBC.
Really good idea you will show more of farming if people send it in from all parts rather than a media hyped version which changes everything for views.
@4 mins in: "under sowing barley". How on earth can Olly harvest the wheat without chopping off the barley? I think that barley would mature at about the same time anyway, in which case the gross yield would be about the same or less than normal. My suggestion is to undersow the barley at the other end of the season, but the drill would need to be fitted with crop dividers. Ollie's experiment last year of growing a second crop of barley was a learning curve. Well done Olly!
I agree a second channel will be good but don't forget am here in southern Ireland n would love to contribute dairying is dairying nothing new there but having tillage n cows it's nice to see what others like olly r doing n really enjoyed this video cos I saw a combine I might like second hand
Hi Olly, what I would like to see on the new channel is an overview of the person's farm, like how many acres do they farm and what machinery do they have.
Great video olly. I would leave the strip of beans as a cover crop for birds. The other channel sounds great and would love to see what price farmers get for their produce and see what the difference is between the shelf price in shops
Second channel sounds a good idea , you could include bits from farmers showing what they do in the same way you do , show what people have tried that didn’t work as well what did , it’s just as interesting and everyone wants to know what not to do
Great idea about the new channel Olly, I'm sure there will be no shortage of content... How about How to build a roundabout in under 18 months for the first program 😁 Had to do a re-take on Stephen, closed my eyes and I'd have sworn it was Pater Kay talking 😂😂.
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer I can remember that you used your sprayer to display a particular colour. I can't find that particular video, so can you please tell me which number of your videos it was Olly.
What I want to see and hear is everything. Thoughts on how crops are progressing, including organic even though I'm not into organic but are there some practices that could cross over to save on some chemical? costs, prices, fertiliser, chemicals, machinery, investment, diversification, etc. And farmers racing pedal tractors of course.
Spring Barley in Winter wheat will be nearly ready to harvest at the same time?how much O.S.R have you that ,is good in one part and poor in another 20-30%?.If the clover get going depends if its a damp season, you may find it will be a headache to get through the combine, need a plain knife, could drag go in lumps, slow the combine down could take some wheat over the back, need a hot day
Was that straight pipe saunders seen at claas and lord muck. They are in the presence of farmer royalty. Give them a bit of grief Olly they deserve it. You definitely know your stuff 😏 great video. Just let us know what's going on in the real world
The barley doesn't stand a chance Phil, the wheat will block its sunlight. I've suggested using crop dividers on the drill in order to under sow a few weeks before the wheat has matured (whilst the wheat is still green) .
The most important issue with my pre-harvest under sowing proposal is; how long can a barley seedling survive without adequate sun light after it has been planted and then chitted?
It's my nephews 33rd birthday today, so I donated £33 to put his name on the batman bumper. After my payment was accepted, I was informed that the North West Helicopter charity has not just one but THREE helicopters! So I make my donation to be 11 quid per copter... What a BARGAIN!
How many people does it take to change a light bulb? How many people does it take to drive a tractor? How many people does it take to pilot a helicopter? How many people does it take to manage a farm? How many people does it take to manage a charity which only employs 2 or 3 helicopter pilots? (Apparently charity number 1075641 utilizes a mere 90 staff to make its helicopter airborne)
As a small farmer it would be nice to have some type of financing help, not all farmer can claim BPS or and other grants as you have to put lots of cash into it as well. What is available?
The Welsh arable farmer on countryfile said he could replace £1000 of fert with 2 tons of chicken muck was a little misleading, 2 ton of broiler liter would be more like 100 kgs of fertilizer
Other channel should be interesting. Some toys for sale at Class HQ. Saunders and Mukka having a good time. I see your Instagram posting regarding Neil Parish .......Tractors wrong tube channel
Just thinking if you posted an advert in the shooting times or similar shooting magazine you'd get your pigeon problem taken care of by someone who knows what they are doing....... For free 🤷♂️ I know that if I lived a few hundred miles closer I'd certainly do it
