Spot on. I must admit though, that parking lot dings on my truck drive me crazy while offroad cosmetic blemishes don't. The latter is self-inflicted while having fun; the former is caused by a-holes who don't respect other people's sh💩. Nobody gets to f up my truck except me.
When I was in high school my dad bought a brand new 3/4 ton Ford 4WD. As soon as he got it we drove it to the ranch and he proceeded to drive it through the roughest brush and low areas on the place. When I asked him why he was doing it his reply was something like, "I need to go ahead and knock the "new" off of this thing so I can use it like I need to." And from that point on he would drive it just about anywhere he thought it would go - so he didn't have to walk as far. Lol. I have a brand new F250 and I ain't doing that yet, but it will be seeing some dirt and mud very soon.
I'm thankful that we could pay cash for our GX460 (albeit used). What fun it was to immediately take it off-road in Anza Borrego and use it for its intended purpose, giggling as the skidplates kissed rocks and creosote bushes gave it the inaugural desert pinstripes.
Everybody forgets Toyota and Lexus have the highest resale value. I know we don’t plan on reselling it ever, butI take great pride is getting EXTREME use out of my Tacoma Sr as it doubles as my work and personal vehicle. It’s 2wd (I prefer simplicity and practicality, I don’t do serious off roading) but I got it on KO2’s and sandbags in the rear. I kid you not this past two weeks here in the Midwest snow storms, I was spinning donuts in the parking lots while others were getting stuck or not even wanting to take their cars yt in the snow and salt. I just wash mine and maintain it but I love actually USING it. It’s a TRUCK! I toss shovels in the back, paint drip all over the bed liner who cares! Side note the traction control settings on these third gen Tacomas are outstanding for snow an ice. My 93 2wd would have had significant more trouble going where I’ve gone without getting stuck once.
Love the brutal honesty ! I have to add one other thing.... Some of these people really do buy these things and kit them out purely for image, never intending to really off road them. However I do agree on the debt / fear thing , for sure. Oh by the way, I've driven a stock model T Ford and it's a ton of fun !! (not a commuter car though HaHa!)
@timmcooper294 oh totally agree some buy just to dress it up for style/show and that makes them happy... we're talking about the ones who _want_ to get dirty but won't allow themselves to do so 😢
I live in NYC and I’ve taken my stock Wrangler Willys EVERYWHERE!!! Up the Rockies, to MOAB, went mudding in Kentucky and Florida…. Almost flooded the engine. I’m proud of all the pinstripes/scratches, dents, dings. I still have two more years to pay it off😢.
Interesting theories on this one. I'm not sure it's always about the financing. Sometimes I just think it's really hard to scuff up that brand new, really pretty vehicle. We bought our new 4Runner with cash, added some rock sliders and skid plates, and we were on its first 4WD road with 70 miles on the odometer, then heading out for Moab when the vehicle had 200 miles on the odometer. While in Moab we used it how it was intended to be used, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I wasn't as hard on it as I was on my old beat-up truck and my old clapped-out Jeep that I'd used on trails in that area in years past. I still enjoy detailing the new vehicle when I'm done with a trip, too, even though it came home so dirty I could hardly tell what color it was. For me it's just trying to take care of a big ticket purchase, because my wife also uses it to take the kids to school and go on grocery runs... then we take the kids for vacation and hit the 4WD roads. So, there's a balance for me, I guess?
I live in Vegas and see so many 4runners, wranglers, trucks with lifts and bunch of gears and it's too clean. Personally know a neighbor with a Gladiator that has rooftop tent, shovel, extra gas tanks, lights, and he rarely goes offroad. Having loved lexus LS430, I think of my GX460 as a lifted version of LS that gives me option to go offroad.
I do think for some it is easy as heck to go offroading. If you are living in S.F., it is an absolute trek to get to a good offroading trail...especially once you have done the nearby off-roading areas/trails. It's like camping, I would LOVE to go more, but it's just tough with full time/mandatory overtime jobs, kids sports, life....etc. Another thing, I had a coworker that said I keep my truck so pristine and that it wasn't used for off-road. I had to walk him closer to see the dent, broken trim, scraped sliders, pinstripes...etc. Sometimes you have to get close to a car to actually see what it's been through. I can wash my GX460, and it still looks nice (from a distance).
Another banger of a video! It’s sad but you see this with people and cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, watches, . At that point, the object owns you, not the other way around.
This is an interesting discussion less about cars and more about behavioral finance. Ben Felix, another TH-cam person, discusses the hedonic treadmill on one of his videos. The essence is that people enjoy buying nice things more than using nice things. They get very little utility out of luxury vehicles other than the fleeting dopamine dump from the purchase itself. The person in a 2024 Corolla has the same driving experience as someone driving a 2024 GX550 for most types of driving. People feel good *thinking* about driving, and feel better the more expensive the car, but when asked how they felt after driving, there's zero difference when comparing the luxury driver's actual experience vs the economy car driver's experience. And after the glow of the purchase wears off, there's no difference in enjoyment between ownership of a luxury car and a cheaper car. It becomes a gilded statue, a status symbol, to keep up with the neighbors. The irony is of course buying a cheaper vehicle, paying cash, and not being afraid to drive it, scratch it, and ding it up, would bring far more enjoyment to most people than someone taking a luxury off road vehicle into the backcountry and beating it up. th-cam.com/video/WbBVoe9Lr94/w-d-xo.html
@JulietHotelFoxtrot great points 😉... as I like to say: "dream car" and "dream house" were never actual dreams anyone had as a kid... those "dreams" were implanted long ago by social-engineers... our last car was a 1995 camry... felt no different getting a new GX... after 60 miles in anything new, it's just another car/beater... ❤️ ✌️
exactly... you rent that SXS to live life and own the moment... you get into debt for that debtmobile and it owns you... the vehicle has no idea how old or new it is... what matters is if YOU are having fun... and debt ain't fun
Thanks TH-cam,this is really cool setup ,car ,chair and voice is top notch .Wish you many millions of subs .I work on cars and hardly remember anyone has this level of production on TH-cam .Hope your ain’t falling down like Donut media - they sold out ,Haha maybe do the collab with Scotty would be cool 😂
I took an old 90 suburban 4x4 and drove that thing to panama in central america and back, never even used 4x4 until we hit some landslides, wagon cost 4k , no problems there and back. The amount of huge high end rigs i saw being harassed by border control was crazy.
Back 10-15 years ago when I lived in rural Nevada I had a 2001 tundra I paid $9,000 for. I don’t even remember the brand of all terrain tires it had on it but i went all over hell in that thing and had some of the best times of my life in a bone stock truck. I would usually carry 2 spares and a hi lift jack. It was hard to beat the freedom and simplicity of a bedroll thrown out in the back of the truck and an old Coleman cooler. I’d cook a steak over an open fire with almost no utensils required. Now my camping trips are a little more complicated as I got married and had kids but I’ll always remember that sensation of going out with the bare minimum. I see all these gadgets guys are taking now for a simple overnight trip and just shake my head. So many items to manage and maintain, they start to own you at a certain point.
This is so true, I can’t afford a GX I have a base model awd Rav4 bought new with cash. Its main purpose is to go light off roading because I like to hike and is my winter/snow attack vehicle. I bought it because of its capability and new reliability. I can’t buy a 10-17 year old used suv with questionable maintenance and history and drive it on cold winters and some light trails. Awesome vid! keep it up.
Couldn't agree more. I just put a video on my channel about my budget 4Runner build and how it's built to have fun in. I wear my desert pinstripes with pride. Thanks for the vid!
One time I was at an OHV park and I asked this New Defender owner why his truck was sitting pretty on the asphalt parking lot, he didn’t want to get it dirty😂
I have a Defender and the owner community is hilarious sometimes. If I had a dollar for every time someone asked “what’s the most aggressive looking tire I can put on my 22” wheels”….
Got some small scratches and pin stripes on my new 21 4runner within a month, wanted to go ahead and go over that hump. Wife has a highlander, if im not going to use this thing for what its built for it was going to be traded in for a prius.
Spend the money on taking fun places. You're fourrunner is plenty capable straight off the showroom floor. Then you'll know what you need to improve. I have just a 3" lift and good set of ATs and good times
@@gregmach8230 yeah I have mine where I want it. With the tires it's roughly 3/2 front/back lifted, toyo C loads, winch and aluminum bumper, rock sliders that also make a nice step. Been quite a few places already. Done with the mods, everything had a purpose. Have used the winch once and it mostly just gives us confidence going places. The once would have been fine probably would better prep, but honestly knew I had a tree option and kind of wanted to test it anyway.
Another component is that people don't want to enjoy their vehicle by doing stuff like getting an exhaust system or a piggyback tune because they fear voiding the warranty. Or that they're freaked by the prospect of having the underside of a car being dirty and that meaning they'll soon be needing an expensive repair.
I always find it awkward when striking up a conversation with an "overlander" with a fancy pants vehicle that has all the accessories on it and realizing that they have never actually taken it on any real trails. Meanwhile my Jeep Patriot with just some all terrains and some LED ditch lights has seen 100x the road use. I bought a off road capable vehicle because I wanted to use it off road. In fact when we bought it brand new, we drove it from the dealership straight up a trail. It had 82 miles on it. It has brought our family countless hours of enjoyment. Also... Washing a vehicle and making it pretty is way more fun and when it has dirt that it earned from off road adventures. Love your video and perspective.
Heck, most people that own SUV'S don't even use nor need them where they live. Most people don't need anything more than just the most basic stripped down cheapest vehicle available. Some people just like the customized look. But you know what, it's whatever floats your boat and what you like.
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD I have a 2001 Yukon XL from new. Still own it and runs like new. It checked all the boxes I wanted it for. Looks, carrying capacity for people and cargo capacity and safety. Also where I live, the weather conditions in winter is a definite need for 4 wheel drive and it's hilly. I also take it onto beat up forest roads and into the sand. So for me I utilize it to it's capacity.
I think you're on to something here with this "fear and cleaning dichotomy." Cleaning is basically organized fidgeting which is anxiety which is fear. Excellent work
Love that you call people out. This video was posted while I was going through a muddy trail today. The looks I got today is great. “Is that Lexus in mud?”
I think this is true a lot of the time but I bought my vehicle with no debt and it’s always clean as hell. One reason that I’m not in debt is because I buy quality things and I take care of my stuff so it lasts. I totally agree that most people are not like that though.
In my case, Mine does get dirty. Though the dirt it is not from unnecessary abuse. These modern vehicles are expensive, fragile and have many uses rather than going to the bottom of a mud pit.
I love this guy too. It's not only Lexus. I know this is a Toyota/Lexus fan base, but even Defender owners, only a few go off road, I'm like 1% of those owners that really enjoy the outdoors wilderness. Now the one that we see a lot that is use for malls and Beverly Rodeo Drive are the G Wagons. It is absolutely the most capable triple lock vehicle and it sees 99.9 percent pavement. Sorry for those sensitive viewers, I'm just expressing my opinion just as he is pointing out. I love the part where you mention, people that do manicure their vehicles are usually borrowing the money and is not paid off lol, here is my motto "ONE LIFE LIVE IT"
Thanks for your loving support 🙏 ❤️ 🙇♂️ it means alot... sometimes a few perceive this video as "hating" but it's just brutal truth... and you know what they say about the truth... love the defenders and g-wagons too 😃 ✌️ ❤️
How anyone can finance / borrow for a rapidly depreciating asset like a vehicle is beyond me. In my opinion, it really is indicative of a deeper cultural problem we have as a country.
Or... Man: "I'm buying this amazing new offroad capable vehicle so i can take it offroad and have some fun!" Man's wife: "We didn't spend $80k on a new car for you just so you can ruin it!" Man: "But I bought this specific trim of this vehicle because it has all these great offroad features so that I could take it offroad." Man's wife: "No, you bought it because you are a grown man who still acts like a teenager." Or something like that... probably.
While a lot of what you say is true, you are missing the resale aspect. I take my off-road vehicles off-road, but I also don’t beat the hell out of them like you do. One, because I like a nice looking vehicle, two, I enjoy detailing my vehicle, and three, when and if I sell my vehicle, I want to get as much for it as I can. I was taught to take care of my things. Whether I own something outright, or am still making payments is irrelevant. The better I take care of my things, the nicer they look and the longer they last. Which means I can enjoy them longer, and if I decide to sell it, I can get top dollar. For example my house. I could trash the shit out of it, let things go to hell. But one, having a trashed out home would be depressing, and also it would affect the resale value, or how much it’s worth. So in short, an off-road vehicle is meant to go off-road, but that doesn’t mean I have to beat the hell out of it to enjoy the remote wilderness or places a non off-road vehicle can’t travel. And it also means I can enjoy having an off-road vehicle that can still look nice and retain its highest value for as long as I choose to keep it. While your off-road vehicle is nice, and I’m sure you’ve enjoyed it, I wouldn’t ever consider buying it, for the simple fact that you beat the shit out of it. So although you are correct in some cases it’s just a matter of priorities, what’s more important to the individual. It’s not all about debt.
I wheel my JK at least once a month and it always comes home dirty and with a few new "pinstripes". I too enjoy cleaning it. Takes me a half day. Cleaning is also a great way to do a post-trail inspection for an issues, etc. I like to call it pride of ownership?
Again people NOT using their 4x4s tend to claim this Lexus is "getting beat up". Please locate the damage on this Lexus GX460: th-cam.com/video/QR2WtFVDSNE/w-d-xo.html
I wouldn't buy a used off road vehicle for the fact that some-one beat the tar out if already. Even if it looks pretty on the surface, I don't want to pay the maintenance bills from someone else's good time.
I live on a dirt road in Wyoming. We have folks drive thru town and hit the car wash, after driving pavement thru Yellowstone NP. Too much dust on the highway.
Debt from all the glamping junk on it. I will say that bigger tires do help when driving is major cities. I’ve bent more wheels driving in the concrete jungle than on a trail. More treacherous driving im downtown Atlanta than the trails kn north Georgia mountains.
Agreed. My neighbor yells at his kid every time he plays around his new bought car. I did nothing when my 3 yr daughter threw a stone in the back of my 14 old Tiguan😂 i as well have no mercy for it
Fun video, I agree with a lot of your opinions. Maybe fear of paying a bill on something they no longer can use keeps people from taking their vehicles out. I'm 19 years Active Duty military so I have the unfortunate reality of getting a new boss about every 6 months. Its a coin toss as to weather they will be decent to work with or not. My current supervisor referred to their 4Runner as an investment the other day,. I kept my comments to myself. I've learned that I make more money than most of the people that outrank me due to good financial practices, keeping minimal debt and having investments that bring in passive income. I will be fully retired and living easy in year, and would have left the military 4 years ago and retired then if I could have taken a reduced pension and the life long medical coverage etc. I'm just doing the time now, can't wait to be done.
"investement" in a heap of mass produced, depreciating, sheetmetal and rubber? lol 😆 don't get me started... you are a wise one due to your intelligent decisions... as for "pay"... as I like to say "it's not what you make, it's what you _keep_" 😉 ... 6 figure income minus 7 figure university debt = homeless guy outside of Starbucks doing better than you 😉
Yeah bro this is like my fifth video and you showing me that you got a 75 mile odometer car like that off road shows that you put your money where your mouth is. You're real bro
we kinda have no choice since we live offroad... every vehicle is offroad constantly out here one way or the other: th-cam.com/video/DkI1Yz1yxnQ/w-d-xo.html
The reason is blatant consumerism, thats why nobody goes offroad these days, they buy something they can’t afford to look cool and then are scared to use it. Just buy an 80 series, theyre way better than the new stuff anyways and you won’t feel guilty.
@ Haha, just did the same to my triton, ready to dent it up all over again!!!! You get out there in your 80, super capable rigs and still has aftermarket support.
the peasantry is programmed with the idea that debt is a social badge-of-honor... they will go out of their way to prove to strangers that they are the most indebted. They will have a panic attack otherwise. This behavior will remain until they are implanted with a new software-update.
I bought my Fj cruiser 2007 $16,000 cash . Literally the next day I cut my fenders to put fender flares on and my mom almost had a heart attack lol . I told her hey at least I own it unlike my sisters pavement princess😂
I have no pity for guys who buy 4x4s beyond their means, and build it up, but can not even afford to actually drive it off road. They are like hypercar collectors that buy up hypercars just keep the cars stored, but never take one track day. Infuriating lol. Or they to take it on the trail, but break something beyond their budget to fix😂, and are out of something to drive, because they were also daily driving it lol.
Dont forget the people that buy it cause its a costume. If my car looks bad ass people think im a bad ass. If it looks offroady people think im outdoorsy
This reminds me of another YT video by “iGiOffRoad” where a guy bought a brand new 4Runner trd off road, drove it right off the lot and literally did rock climbing with it. It was ballsy.
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROADYou are SPOT ON ACCURATE. I bought as 22 Tacoma when the “shortag3” was happening and I’m guilty of this . 3 years later still owe $34k and it only had 18k miles ugh😢
Will also say that the “TRD Bros” finance it and keep it clean cause they’ll trade it in within a few years. Once they have it all glamped up they get tired of it.
My 4runner has been paid off for 6 years. I still keep it spotless! I take a lot of pride on ownership of the vehicle and cleaning it makes me feel good. Keeping it well maintained and clean is part of my enjoyment of owning the vehicle. Your psychoanalyzation is very interesting though =) Makes me self-reflect on my ownership and past purchases.
I’ve been babying my 22 4Runner ORP (stock). I figure I’ll have this thing for the next 30 years so I’m going to keep it nice for now and once it gets naturally more beat up I’ll take it off road more and more. I like the ability to go over everything I just don’t use it yet.
Auto loan delinquency rates are approaching record highs. I will say even if you can buy with cash sometimes it still makes sense to finance at a low rate. Stock market returns over the last few years have far exceeded typical auto loan rates. Great channel, thanks!
Truthfully, that's the simplest explanation - most folks who build up their cars are simply posers who never intend to go offroad. Many car manufacturers have caught on and are now building cars with all the offroad bells and whistles at prices which prohibit offroading for most of us. No idea what GX460 OFF_ROAD finances are like, but I certainly will be paying close attention to the video in which he tells us he paid cash for his new $120k+tax LX700h overtrail and then proceeds to take it rock crawling :)
There’s two types of people: A) New expensive car, heavy debt B) Older paid off vehicle, signs of wear Guess which one we most commonly see on the trails?
@ Not familiar with the SoCal scene but up here in the PNW the shiny new rigs decked with overland gear like a Christmas tree stay on pavement and the older rigs are usually on the trails. The only exception being Subarus 💀
My Outback Wilderness has definitely seen more dirt than half the Wranglers I see. I pick on people with Jeeps because they are the most compromised vehicle for on-road driving right out of the box. Even the Saharas are just awful on the highway. There is absolutely zero reason to have a Wrangler. Even "serious" off-roaders would be better served by a 4Runner or GX. Plus Jeeps are totally unreliable rust buckets. Rant over.
I buy my vehicles with credit AND take them on the rocks and in the mud the very next day. I think it’s opposite if you pay credit. It’s like a rental car, because you don’t really own it (you do but it’s contingent upon making your payments). And in my case, I’m not afraid to get my cars dirty, but, I like it to be clean in town. Ive cleaned my fully paid vehicles just as much as my financed ones. Perhaps not the norm but you can’t just assume this about all “clean” vehicles you see. But I’d say, just from my observations, that some of the lifted “off road” vehicles you see in the cities, don’t hardly go off road or not at all.
I think it's quite silly paying cash for a brand new vehicle for the simple fact that if it gets totaled, you're out the cash that could've been invested somewhere else. I find it more feasible to secure a low interest loan with enough down-payment for affordable monthly payments, including gap insurance. I have paid off car loans one year out, but my Toyota vehicle value far exceeded payoff amount. My 2 cents.
Hi, you fully insure your new car. And by law in most states, everyone else needs to have basic liability... so if your new cash car gets totaled, you're gettin' a new one 😉✌️
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD Typically a vehicle loses 10% of value as soon as you drive it off the lot, normally takes a few years of payments to actually catch up to vehicles actual value that an insurance company will settle. That's why gap insurance is important. I'd be mad as hell if I paid 60K for a vehicle and insurance settles on 50K no matter how much intrest I paid long term.
meh, that's what proper insurance is for.....with no interest. My car is almost two years old and would still get full replacement value. I paid cash for it....I waited for over a year for delivery. Money sat in a 7% gic. while I waited
I have a 95 xj. Not the cleanest car but ive put alot of work in it. Never been a fan of offroading i just love how it looks. Most im doing is driving to my campsite. Its a pavement princess
I don't blame people for not taking their beautiful prepped 4x4's off road if they choose. I satisfy my offroad kick with dirtbikes and quads ... plus it's cheaper if you tear something up😊
As a guy who grew up on a farm, maybe I just don't enjoy being stuck. I'll see you guys at camp, we're going to get some Denny's on the way out. Also, FWIW, I'd rather buy a clapped out Chevy or Ford to overland than something remotely new because if I break it there are 20,000 others of the same model sitting at the nearest junkyard to pull parts off of and/or plentiful and cheap aftermarket parts.
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROADI respect your point of view and agree with the overall sentiment of your video… Use your damn car and enjoy it! That said, financing at 0% is cheaper than cash sitting in a bank. Also, your cash is better spent making higher yields than what the bank charges. It’s just leveraging your cash better. Regardless, I’m with you. Use your car the way it was intended to be used.
This applies to the posers, but not for all. I paid my good truck off before it’s first oil change was due. My other trucks I paid cash. I use my beater rigs for bester jobs and my new truck for towing. I clean my rigs meticulously because that’s how I identify developing problems that may strand me later. Cleaning is actually an inspection. You can’t see a cracked shock mount if it’s caked in mud.

At that point, the object owns you, not the other way around.
exactly 💯
Best video you have ever made 😂😂.I couldn't agree more, when I drift my 2022 gx460 in snow people get mad.
live your life!! ❤️

So what I heard you say was when I buy a new 2025 GX 550, I will never have to clean it. Sweet!😂😂😂
I see what you did there 😏 ❤️ 🙇♀️
The same people who borrow $50,000 to baby their TRD/ZR2/Raptor at 8% APR scoff at renting a side by side to kill the trails as a waste of money.
exactly... you rent that SXS to live life and own the moment... you get into debt for that debtmobile and it owns you... the vehicle has no idea how old or new it is... what matters is if YOU are having fun... and debt ain't fun
Your absolutely correct sir !
Not only that, but also everything these days breaks just from driving over a pothole, and costs insane amounts of money to fix.
Thanks TH-cam,this is really cool setup ,car ,chair and voice is top notch .Wish you many millions of subs .I work on cars and hardly remember anyone has this level of production on TH-cam .Hope your ain’t falling down like Donut media - they sold out ,Haha maybe do the collab with Scotty would be cool 😂
thanks for your kind words 🙏 🙇♂️ ❤️ we won't "sell out" ... we can't stand the fake channels either lol 😆✌️
I took an old 90 suburban 4x4 and drove that thing to panama in central america and back, never even used 4x4 until we hit some landslides, wagon cost 4k , no problems there and back. The amount of huge high end rigs i saw being harassed by border control was crazy.
You are having actual fun i love that
Back 10-15 years ago when I lived in rural Nevada I had a 2001 tundra I paid $9,000 for.
@OneEyedOtis Thank you for your support 🙇♂️ 🙏 ❤️ we have zero dents but pinstriped to heck since day one 😆 life is meant to be lived. Go have fun!
I have washed my GX twice in the 3 years I have owned it. 😂
So much truth in this video! Keep speaking!!
🙇♂️ 🙏 ❤️
One time I was at an OHV park and I asked this New Defender owner why his truck was sitting pretty on the asphalt parking lot, he didn’t want to get it dirty😂
eeeegggxactly 😆 🤣
I have a Defender and the owner community is hilarious sometimes. If I had a dollar for every time someone asked “what’s the most aggressive looking tire I can put on my 22” wheels”….
Got some small scratches and pin stripes on my new 21 4runner within a month, wanted to go ahead and go over that hump. Wife has a highlander, if im not going to use this thing for what its built for it was going to be traded in for a prius.
exactly 💯 if you don't use it, it means you didn't _really_ want it to begin with... and where's the fun in that suffering??? have fun!! 😃 ✌️ ❤️
True words here man!
Heck, most people that own SUV'S don't even use nor need them where they live.
Most people don't need anything more than just the most basic stripped down cheapest vehicle available.
Some people just like the customized look. But you know what, it's whatever floats your boat and what you like.
our previous new vehicle was a 1995 toyota Camry... lasted nearly 30 years... we sold it at 300k worked fine 🙂
So for me I utilize it to it's capacity.
so thats why I drove all my rusted through 500$ Mazda B2500es till they broke 😂
The fancier the truck, the broker the man.
....not necessarily
That’s a big generalization, but I would agree that a lot of people live beyond their means.
I see you from Greece. I agree with you. they DON'T like to drive it. Just they have it ONLY to show "the thing" 😂
amen 🙌 ❤️ 💯
I think you're on to something here with this "fear and cleaning dichotomy." Cleaning is basically organized fidgeting which is anxiety which is fear. Excellent work
excellent point about cleaning being essentially a neurotic response to stress 😃 💯 👏 👏 👏
Hold up you are talking about the guy behind me.
Love that you call people out. This video was posted while I was going through a muddy trail today. The looks I got today is great. “Is that Lexus in mud?”
@@2URLex you got dirt on it! Oh no!! 😆 ya it's bizzare
@ it’s really like you said, a neighbor of mine got a new jeep with some 37s and it stays in the garage.
I think this is true a lot of the time but I bought my vehicle with no debt and it’s always clean as hell. One reason that I’m not in debt is because I buy quality things and I take care of my stuff so it lasts. I totally agree that most people are not like that though.
our last new car was a 1995 Camry... sold it at 300k 😆
I love the part where you mention, people that do manicure their vehicles are usually borrowing the money and is not paid off lol, here is my motto "ONE LIFE LIVE IT"
Thanks for your loving support 🙏 ❤️ 🙇♂️ it means alot... sometimes a few perceive this video as "hating" but it's just brutal truth... and you know what they say about the truth... love the defenders and g-wagons too 😃 ✌️ ❤️
My 18yo Lexus ES350 is way dirtier than any 4Runner or Jeep in my town.
Yes, I am absolutely overly sensitive. It hurts my feelings to see you smashing up your sweet ride.
😢...🫂 ❤️
bro, you're like Yoda I'm loving this
Off road Philosophy teaches he! 😊
How anyone can finance / borrow for a rapidly depreciating asset like a vehicle is beyond me. In my opinion, it really is indicative of a deeper cultural problem we have as a country.
you're spot on... we can discuss it in a video.. but frankly I'm afraid to do so 😕... OK maybe I will 😆 ✌️
Or...
Man: "I'm buying this amazing new offroad capable vehicle so i can take it offroad and have some fun!"
Man's wife: "We didn't spend $80k on a new car for you just so you can ruin it!"
Man: "But I bought this specific trim of this vehicle because it has all these great offroad features so that I could take it offroad."
Man's wife: "No, you bought it because you are a grown man who still acts like a teenager."
Or something like that... probably.
Also, same man, quietly: "I hope we get a lot of snow this year!"
... probably
"Coleco Vision screen", few will know what this meant the moment they heard it...classic😂
ya I guess we old now 😢
While a lot of what you say is true, you are missing the resale aspect.
Please locate the damage on this Lexus GX460:
th-cam.com/video/QR2WtFVDSNE/w-d-xo.html
I wouldn't buy a used off road vehicle for the fact that some-one beat the tar out if already. Even if it looks pretty on the surface, I don't want to pay the maintenance bills from someone else's good time.
I live on a dirt road in Wyoming. We have folks drive thru town and hit the car wash, after driving pavement thru Yellowstone NP. Too much dust on the highway.
Loving that front bumper. Do you have a link? Are 4runner bumpers in produced as well?
horrific experience this brand of bumler... do NOT get... get any other brand but this one
Lol, I've done all those things. Washed it lots. 😅. You're so right.
I did nothing when my 3 yr daughter threw a stone in the back of my 14 old Tiguan😂 i as well have no mercy for it
I have numerous dings in my GX from kids bikes. I don't even get angry anymore.
Can confirm! 😂
You're real bro
we kinda have no choice since we live offroad... every vehicle is offroad constantly out here one way or the other:
th-cam.com/video/DkI1Yz1yxnQ/w-d-xo.html
I swear my little 05 Cherokee comes back from the mountains with more mud on it than the tricked out JK’s that I follow in 😂
Your Next video should be about: Xpel wrapping off road vehicles 😂
My beater is paid off and I put shopping carts against it so they don’t roll off and it bothers my wife so much😂Granted this is a 2005 Forester.
😆 the shopping cart holder 😆 🤣
The reason is blatant consumerism, thats why nobody goes offroad these days, they buy something they can’t afford to look cool and then are scared to use it. Just buy an 80 series, theyre way better than the new stuff anyways and you won’t feel guilty.
yessir. I'm gonna restore my 80 to make it look new, and then I'm gonna mess it up again
@ Haha, just did the same to my triton, ready to dent it up all over again!!!! You get out there in your 80, super capable rigs and still has aftermarket support.
I will never understand buying a brand new vehicle you can barely afford / can't afford
the peasantry is programmed with the idea that debt is a social badge-of-honor... they will go out of their way to prove to strangers that they are the most indebted. They will have a panic attack otherwise. This behavior will remain until they are implanted with a new software-update.
May be you just don't enjoy washing your vehicle lol. Your not tricking me sir. Thanks for the good videos.
I bought my Fj cruiser 2007 $16,000 cash . Literally the next day I cut my fenders to put fender flares on and my mom almost had a heart attack lol . I told her hey at least I own it unlike my sisters pavement princess😂
say it proudly! You are living life and having fun and not waiting until "tommrow" 🙂✌️
If it looks offroady people think im outdoorsy
th-cam.com/video/MjsveW2Cf9M/w-d-xo.html
This reminds me of another YT video by “iGiOffRoad” where a guy bought a brand new 4Runner trd off road, drove it right off the lot and literally did rock climbing with it. It was ballsy.
I think it takes more guts to buy a new TRD Offroad 4runner and park it in a garage/take it to the carwash for the next decade 😆 but hey.. 😁
Another syndrome, perhaps to a lesser degree, is owner behavior before or after the “first scratch.”
exactly... 💯
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROADYou are SPOT ON ACCURATE. I bought as 22 Tacoma when the “shortag3” was happening and I’m guilty of this . 3 years later still owe $34k and it only had 18k miles ugh😢

I thought I came to car channel but into psych channel
Will also say that the “TRD Bros” finance it and keep it clean cause they’ll trade it in within a few years. Once they have it all glamped up they get tired of it.
@davidnuxoll7074 compounding-debt musical-chairs... eventually the music stops 🎶🪑
I just think people like to cosplay
I’ve been babying my 22 4Runner ORP (stock). I figure I’ll have this thing for the next 30 years so I’m going to keep it nice for now and once it gets naturally more beat up I’ll take it off road more and more. I like the ability to go over everything I just don’t use it yet.
Auto loan delinquency rates are approaching record highs. I will say even if you can buy with cash sometimes it still makes sense to finance at a low rate. Stock market returns over the last few years have far exceeded typical auto loan rates. Great channel, thanks!
WhistlinDiesel just agreed with what you said lol.
posers
Truthfully, that's the simplest explanation - most folks who build up their cars are simply posers who never intend to go offroad. Many car manufacturers have caught on and are now building cars with all the offroad bells and whistles at prices which prohibit offroading for most of us. No idea what GX460 OFF_ROAD finances are like, but I certainly will be paying close attention to the video in which he tells us he paid cash for his new $120k+tax LX700h overtrail and then proceeds to take it rock crawling :)
There’s two types of people:
A) New expensive car, heavy debt
B) Older paid off vehicle, signs of wear
Guess which one we most commonly see on the trails?
@kpy3p 3 types:
C) New expensive car, no debt. They are on the trails too (at least here in SoCal area)
Rant over.
even if it's not paid off you can use it on trails. if it breaks just get a tow off the trail before you contact insurance
😵💫What the hell did I watch and listen to? It was more of a lecture on affording and washing your vehicle!
you are in the wrong classroom! 👏
th-cam.com/video/Xrm2BB-iIFQ/w-d-xo.html yesterday before work!! lol
YES!!! ❤️ 😍 💖
I dunno. Using a vehicle is one thing. Spending your hard earned money on something nice just to beat the shit out of it…? Not for me.
use, not abuse...ok maybe some abuse... but it's a Landcruiser not a Hello-Kitty wedding cake:
th-cam.com/video/QR2WtFVDSNE/w-d-xo.html
The same type of people who go to a car meet to show off a car owned by their bank.
Doesn’t make sense to pay cash with a low interest rate.
debt is debt... pay it be done with it
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROADI respect your point of view and agree with the overall sentiment of your video… Use your damn car and enjoy it!
That said, financing at 0% is cheaper than cash sitting in a bank. Also, your cash is better spent making higher yields than what the bank charges. It’s just leveraging your cash better.
Regardless, I’m with you. Use your car the way it was intended to be used.
To each his own
This applies to the posers, but not for all.
Huh?
Some folks have OCD come on…😅
