A tonneau cover is definitely personal preference. I have a vinyl roll up tonneau cover on my Taco for 4 years and I don't regret it, I actually prefer it and mine still looks like new even thought it was the cheapest one on Amazon at the time. Compared to a hardtop or tri-fold I can roll it up a lot tighter and gain full access to my bed.
I have the hard cover on mine, I have tools sometimes poking out and this one I just slam closed and nothing happens to it, I thought about the vinyl, but it would’ve end up torn in a heart beat 😢
If I lived in a dry climate, I’d go no bed cover. I have a hard trifold dye to lots of snow/rain- it’s ok, but a roll up of some type would probably be better.
Chloe - speaking as one engineer to another, I would say I am in agreement with your 'logic' 90+ % of the time!! Keep doing what you're doing!! I always look forward to the next one. PS - keep including the Land Cruiser!!
Load range of tires make sense. For me rtt is great, I have a hoist to take it out when it’s not needed. It does not increases overall vehicle height since it’s mounted in the bed on top of mid height bad rack . It’s hard shell (ikamper ) . It’s a game changer for campers, since it shortens the setup time, provides flat above ground shelter and helps with storage
Roof racks are good. I got a really nice Leer topper for my T100 off a wreck that showed up at the local junkyard. It was $100 and came with Thule roof racks. I installed a third Thule roof rack on the cab section. That allows me to safely carry 16 foot deck boards, 8x4 foot plywood/drywall, and ladders on top.
Family of five with a T4R. We don’t have a RTT on the truck but roof bars over rack for mounting. We do have a roof rack with a Roam box, Maxxtrax, Lights, and bike rack. We have the SR5 for the third row (to separate the kids…hahaha). Roof rack is a must for us. You can tell those who get a roof rack for the look and those who use theirs. We have load rang E tires, too. Off road trailer with RTT; again family of five.
I have a 2022 trd offroad with 32 inch tires, rock sliders, mid height bed rack, decked single drawer system, a rtt, and more mods are still being added! Currently had the Vf tuner device arrive in the mail and will be flashing the ott tune as soon as possible! I agree with Chloe about the rtt I dont use it as much and have it in storage but when I do use it once a month I bring it out and I enjoy the luxury of sleeping off the ground 😊
I bought my 2024 taco about a month after you got yours. I love your channel. I did get a roll up tonneau cover just because of cost, so far it’s been ok but I want to upgrade it to a hard roll up one eventually.
I’ve had Michelin AT/2s on my Tacoma for about a year now and they’ve been great. I live in Northwest Colorado, and even though they’re not technically rated snow tires they’ve worked great. One disadvantage is you cannot get them in 16s anymore. A general thing I like about them is that they don’t look overkill but can produce a great experience on and off road.
I really like my soft tri-fold tonneau cover. It’s relatively cheap, lightweight, and a piece of cake to take off when needed. I’ve had mine for over three years and it still looks great.
I dig my roof top storage box. It holds the small things I don't want in my truck or teardrop trailer. Awnings are so convenient!! I use all my gear. Had a tonneau cover, became a pain to flip up/down. Got rid of it for a camper shell.
Ya I think rooftop tents for occasional campers mostly only makes sense on low bed racks on the bed of a truck. I can set up the tent on and off by myself so I take I down after a trip.
I bought a bakflip revolver and love it! Along with r4t tailgate lock, secured storage is what I wanted. No regrets. I daily my truck so no tents, camping gear, etc. They look cool but I wouldn't know what to do with myself at a camp. I think I'd get bored 😅. I really want to invest in making the truck indestructible! Got any tips? I love your front bumper and want to get one but more for protection, pushing stuff and not just "high clearance". Same with the rear and rock sliders. Not for off road, but more for protection. Anyways, keep up the good work! You've been a strong influence for me and love you're oem+ vision!
Love your channel. I watched hoping you didn't put the decked drawer system on your list. I watched your vid a bunch of times b4 I made a decision. That said learned some cool stuff today. Smart young lady thank you
You’re absolutely right about not making a vehicle top heavy. However, the things that typically go on my roof rack are relatively lightweight. I have a sky camp mini hard shell tent. I have some extra lights. I have a push company to 70° XT awning. Now that did have more weight than I imagined however, it is awesomely built freestanding materials are immensely durable, and when it is an extremely hot day or it’s raining, I’ve never regretted having it. I also have a 7 gallon shower. It’s not always on my truck. It depends on the road trip, but if I’m gonna go anywhere near beaches and sandy places, I love that thing. I store traction boards and no profile, long pelican case which I store all recovery equipment, and some tools in. Altogether, it is a fair bit of weight spread across the two roofs the vehicle roof, and the roof of my RSI canopy. So to make sure with all of that on my two roofs is not too much you want to put weight low down front and rear bumpers are steel. Front bumper has some white wit, extra lights and a winch along with a high lift jack fastened to it. In my engine bay there is an additional battery. In the box of my truck, I have a two drawer deck system. On the rear of my truck stainless steel bumper with two swing out arms, one carrying gas cans water, cans, and some tools. While the other carries ace bar wheel and a rubbish bag. My rock sliders add additional weight lowdown. I have a ARB under armour kit, which adds weight directly under the truck. I have two catalytic converter shields as well. As the spare wheel is no longer under my truck. I went for a long range gas tank, which is heavier allowing me to go from 21 gallons of fuel to 33 gallons of fuel. This significantly increases my range along with the large Rotopax gas cans on my back bumper. So by having all of that weight low down increasing my centre of gravity, the gear and equipment I have on day two roof racks are not so bad. It’s just about balance. I recommend starting with the lower down stuff. I’m working your way to the roof. You will never have to worry about it being top heavy. You also have to watch about how high you lift your truck to the more you lift it for clearance and stuff. Well, the more chance it will roll.
as a professional journeyman tech i cant even count how many times ive told customers there truck rides/drives like crap because of there stupid lift or super aggressive tires....
Have you ever thought about putting a canopy on your Tacomas? I put a Leer canopy on my 2023 Access Cab Tacoma and it's been in interesting experience. In the Pacific NW we get a lot of rain, and I've spent countless hours on water mitigation. The Tacoma truck bed is full of holes, cracks and crevices that allow water in.
Love my Sherpa rack on my 4runner but yes. That wind noise sucks, especially when road tripping. I only really got to keep the dirty things out of the truck.
We started with a vinyl cover then a very good hardcover but then we went to a truck cap, much more space and it did not hurt our fuel mileage, we also tried those plastic deck drawer slides but ended up selling them. if the truck was not level my wife could not open them, We live in Canada so roof racks are out, they only hold more snow than gear .....
I’ve never minded an E rated tire. But I guess I generally upgrade the tire while upgrading the suspension at the same time. So maybe they cancel each other out?
Yea a bed cover is s must. Im not shoveling 3 ft of snow out of the bed of my truck while all my tools amd equipment is covered in that snow and out in the open to steal
Love your videos. Do you have a video about how you keep the under carriage of the truck clean? I'm struggling with my 2017 tacoma, and surface rust. 😅
Only certain type/brand tires have load rating options for a specific size. but knowing now, I'd rather have E load. I've had no punctures on my last 2 sets.
I think all of these things are use case specific, many people will end up buying a 4k roof top tent and using it once or twice, or a roof rack, or tires that have never seen dirt, it’s all on the user, how much he uses all his mods/gears that make a purchase worth buying.
I have the 3rd gen all stock trd offroad. i bought it used 20k miles. How is the stock tires wrangler territory a/t on trails? I only have this truck since november and i only drove it 500 miles total.
Yes, and I love it! I have the Overland torque tune and I think the driving experience in my 2019 Tacoma greatly benefited from it. I am still not sure about one for the 2024. I would be curious when one becomes available to feel the before/after
@@ChloeKuo I've had the Overland Torque Tune for about 18 months. This is the best thing I've done for my 2021 TRD Sport - it should be tuned like this from the factory! Throttle response is totally different from stock tune. Fuel mileage can be the same as stock; it depends on how you drive it. The lead foot temptation is there!
I don't want to ruin mpg on mine for 33s tires but I'm sick of the factory Bilsteins. They're the leaker 5000s and on 3rd pair already under warranty so I want 3 inch suspension dobinsons with tire wheel combo
I actually just filmed a ~45 min review video on the 4th gen Tacoma and drew on many comparative experiences with respect to my 3rd gen. Stay on the lookout for it in the coming weeks!
Why buy a brand new Tacoma to use not to tow and carry loads for work but just to commute to work and occasionally take off road? I though the Forerunner or Land Cruiser are made for that.
I swear to god if I see one more thirsty comment on this women’s videos imma throw up. There a lot of gas station type creepers that are following this person lmaoo 😂
Pro. An ARE canopy with the centered rear entry door are useful for camping. Con. Tailgate must be lowered or removed. An slide in camper, think "Four wheel Camper" Are the best. 🇺🇸🫡

Truck bed covers are essential, IMHO.

You make some key points Chloe to purchasing aftermarket parts to personalize your truck. 🙌

I totally agree on what you're saying, well said Chloe. Happy new year

Agree with all of it. Except the waiting to get a tonneau cover. I think it's necessary to get a hard cover soon for security purposes.
Awesome video with a lot of topics I agree with. It’s smart to do research and buy parts you need or will use over getting stuff to look “cool”

I regret buying CaliRaised LED interior bulbs because one of them caused a short which fried a circuit that will cost me $450 (part only) to replace.
Love my Sherpa rack on my 4runner but yes. That wind noise sucks, especially when road tripping. I only really got to keep the dirty things out of the truck.
Here's a suggestion. Don't install winches on these without modifying the front bumper support.
14:54 Off roading recovery gear storage is why I have my roof rack casing
FYI - Sherpa roof racks don't require the use of silicon sealant like Prinsu.

My tacoma trail hunter came with the roof rack i really don't care for it but it came from the factory that way i will probably just leave it up there
I’d never considered the load rating. I got the KO3s. I need to check. I’ve only had them a few weeks with not much driving over the holidays.
Only certain type/brand tires have load rating options for a specific size. but knowing now, I'd rather have E load. I've had no punctures on my last 2 sets.

Decked drawer system , vinyl trifold tonneau cover , and roof rack , nothing goes on my roof , except beach gear surf board, cat shield , have 265/75/r16 10ply Mickey Thompson

@chloe from where you got the die cast toy Tacoma ? I want one of those

Hi Chloe. Where did you get that Tacoma miniature?
One would think that a tire store would make a customer aware of the load rating of tires.

So where's the review of the Rotopax mountable gas can prominently featured in the thumbnail?
95% of people that own 4x4 vehicles never taken them off road.
Here in Utah awd or 4x4 will make your life much easier.
what about a compare/contrast 3rd gen vs 4th gen?

the White Tacoma, who does that belong to?
Sounds like a lot of $ for nothing. They did a good amount back in the day without all the $$$
