Thank you guys for watching as always❤❤ Arigato gozaimas🥰 We wanted to give this one more of an educational spin while staying true to our travel vlogging style - hope you like it! Do you agree? Which point do you think is the strongest case for why Japan is so unique? Do you think another country deserves the title of most unique?😉
I went to Tokio and Kyoto in 2016 with my brother and mother. It was on the wishlist from my brother somehow it was his last wish. He died two years later after fighting cancer. I‘m so glad we did this trip together. Japan is amazing and it wont be my last trip despite the all the emotions I connect with the country
I have been to over 100 countries and Japan is my favourite. I’ve just returned from my 6th visit there and already want to go again! It is unique and has so much to offer with amazing gardens and temples. I think Kyoto is probably the most beautiful city there. The people must be the most polite and friendly in the world and seem so genuine so I think this is the strongest case for why Japan is unique.
I can see why you like Japan as Scandinavians. The zen design, aspects of the culture, food, minimalism and sensibility is very similar between Scandinavia and Japan.
@@keschmesch Well just the heavy use of herring, preserved salmon, and Smørrebrød is practically the Scandinavian version of sushi with raw fish, veggies and other toppings. Not many other Western countries eat raw, cured fish dishes (surströmming, lutefisk, Persetorsk, etc) like Scandinavians. So in that way it is way more similar to Japanese food than other Western food.
The biggest difference between Chinese Kanji and Japanese Kanji is reading and phonetics. Chinese characters have one reading per character. In Japan, there are basically two ways to read kanji, called On-yomi and Kun-yomi. There are actually two or more readings, and usually one character has many readings and sounds. Sometimes one character can have more than 10 different readings.
Erm no. Many Chinese characters have more than 1 pronunciation (sometimes same 'sound' but different tones) and meaning, depending on the context - polyphones (多音字).
From the start, exquisite cherry blossoms and all those stairs are in remarkable condition. I know because I’ve been running public park staircases in NYC the past week and they can be rough! Well done making it to the top w/o a sweat. Love the illuminated, culture shaping history you’ve included. Incredibly rich architecture in Kyoto.
I’m currently in Japan and winding up my trip. I was just in Kyoto and stayed at the same hotel, visited the same sights and even had dinner a couple of times at the Coco Curry up the street from the Hyatt!
To experience Japan is to experience life on a highly civilized extraterrestrial planet. Once you get used to life here, you can't go back to your star. It's very dangerous.
the most touristy city in fact , used to be very nice and tourist friendly but nowadays simply overcrowded with ppl everywhere even i’m going again in 2 weeks for a few days visit to main Amanohashidate and Kobe and a couple of concerts before other going to other cities.
I am currently living in Kyoto and I am sending out videos to let people know about the good things about Kyoto. I am very happy that you enjoyed Kyoto.
@@lalynobsuna591 The best time to see cherry blossoms in Kyoto is from late March to mid-April. The cherry blossoms bloom from south to north, so even if the timing is off, if you head north, the cherry blossoms will still be in bloom.😊
I'm watching this from Kyoto right now, your travel videos are very inspiring and motivated me to get out and explore, thanks guys! I've been watching you for a long time now, and I'm glad you managed to hit your target and now enjoy traveling without rush😄 P.S. I asked like 5 different people to take pictures at the Shinto shrine, people were always kind and excited to help, but the best pics were taken by solo japanese boys😄
I truly agree that Japan is incredible to visit!!! I can't wait to visit in July. I know it's summer but the experience that counts and I will definitely thank you Oskar and Dan for this video of yours!!!! Mabuhay from the Philippines!!!! Let's dive into the Philippines!!!!!
I have a "pug" Japanese car. A Toyota Roomy. It's easy to drive I'm sure I was there when you were. First week of April. I absolutely love Kyoto/Nara... but I live in Kagoshima (with an active volcano across the bay). I usually ask younger people to take my photo because older ones often can't see the screen well because they need bifocals 👓 .
You really managed to get through a lot of sights in 72 hours. Kyoto's public transport is not as good as other cities, so it can get very tiring to go around. We absolutely love Japan too!
I'm with you on the safety aspect. I have lived in London my entire adult life but I spend a couple months every year in Japan where my parents live. I can always feel the difference in my overall mental wellbeing when I'm in Japan. The feeling of safety and being in a high-trust society is not trivial at all and I feel this is precisely what's been sacrifised in other developed countries for the sake of economic growth and "progress". It is so important to my mental health because it means I am always at ease no matter where I am at any time of the day. In London I feel like I am often subconsciously "on guard" and have to be alert to my environment which porobably raises my overall cortisol and stress levels. Beside safety, the overall cleanliness, order, and aesthetic of the environment, and a sense of moral duty to the common good and a shared understanding with your fellow citizens are what makes Japan unique among all the developed countries and where I would like to live permanently at some point in the future.
A really lovely choice of country to return to. i endorse all you say about Japan. Wish I could have joined you for the curry! Keep on with seeing what you find. Unwell, I have had a bad week. Thanks for cheering me up! .

@@OskarandDan so far I've spent three nights in Hiroshima and am currently spending my final night here in Nagoya before going to Osaka for a few days tomorrow. One thing I've noticed is things generally aren't as expensive as I anticipated...yet. I've still got to spend a week or so in Tokyo yet.

That was amazing!!! The cherry blossoms look beautiful and I’m sure they’re very fragrant when there’s so many of them around! Also, I love that you took the time to participate in a cooking class. How cool! Travel safe, friends! ❤

When I was a child, I never thought that so many foreigners would be interested in and come to Japan😮‼️
Japan is interesting because it is a place where Western and Eastern cultures collide
To experience Japan is to experience life on a highly civilized extraterrestrial planet. Once you get used to life here, you can't go back to your star. It's very dangerous.
