That room gave me a existential crisis because I went into it, saw all the pots, IMMEDIATELY had my brain start screaming at me to roll into all of them in case they had something in them so I did it without thinking, and it was only once the room was absolutely clear of pots that rationality returned to me and I started freaking out because I couldn't remember WHY I had that instinct or where I'd picked it up from.
It took me until the next time I played through a Zelda game for me to realize what it was and why the compulsion was so powerful.

Now I thinking about why they put so many ash pots there. The problem was, if the player just rushed through the room, then Cathedral ward wouldn't load properly. So, they thought if they put those pots there, the player would delay his progress in order to break them, giving the loader more time to load the map.
