Putting the suspension in the middle is smart since it puts the forces closer to the center of mass (which is what performance cars IRL try to achieve), but with only one suspension column you sacrifice independent movement of the back wheels.
Just imagine: a game that is a cross between TerraTech and Scrap Mechanic. You've got the crazy variety of locomotion and weapons from TT, and you've got the detailed stuff like the connections between the bearings, engines, and steering wheel from SC.
As soon as he said a full plot of broccoli and pineapple I thought, 'He has no idea what he's in for' (I think that it's 1 boss for every 50 broccoli or pineapple, Moonbo got 3 bosses for 100-200 so I'm not sure of the multiplications)
When you were standing on top of your little tower and looked to the left at like 10 robots, i had a weird urge of you placing saws on the left edge and pistons on the right edge. Then you just give the bots a little nudge and... you know... let them hug the saws.
you should probably make it one long axis with two wheels, and connect it to the hill via a single bearing in the center. Should bring the wheels closer in, hide the mechanics a bit more and also help with the rear wheels bending in
12:55 A tip to prevent that, and also to lessen the amount of horizontal space that the wheels take: Place the turning bearing closer to the wheels. Then, you go in [towards the car's center] and then place the power bearings.
Could you show more of the playing? I really like knowing the small things, like how your pets are doing and when you feed them and also I like seeing you fending off raids
Ah, Chronic Insomnia, I know thee well. What you need is a tank, a walker(Something spider-like), and a spine tower. My vote is on a spine "Radio" tower raising out from the ocean behind the holy symbol of out purest violence, decorated with lots of skulls. Also, I am thinking, can one make a boat? A boat might be fun, with more skulls.
A way to do what you want - use 2 lvl 4 controllers(1 for each). Build an axle where all the power and speed goes to only one wheel for maximum speed and power(8 bearings stacked). Weld both wheels together to share the power. Have a hinge in the middle of your vehicle The person who said that the controllers are glitchy on lighter crafts, didnt know what they were talking about. Controllers become glitchy on weaker computers and when they achieve really fast spinning speeds. I found that the maximum for my pc was lvl4 8 bearings.
Pro explosive tip if you place a spud gun, a cardboard box in front of the barrel, and then one explosive above the cardboard, when you shoot the spud gun, the explosive will be sent flying
I like to keep steering and power serparate for bearing vehicles, @Lathrix. I usually have 1-2 rows of powered wheels, then front & back steering on non-powered wheels. This also helps in turns, as the non-powered bearings don't suffer from the speed differential in tight corners. And it mostly eliminates the whole start/stop wheel bounce when you're pretty heavy. Edit: The more rows of powered bearing bars you have in the middle, the more weight the craft can take with this design :D
as an aussie as soon as I started the game I made a road train, highly recommended once ya got a fully upgraded engine or cheesing the bearings as ya did here
Thank you for the videos. Have more videos to go through, but piston engine is basically 3 or 4 pistons connected to a main drive shaft in a way so that it can extend/compact 1 square more than the shaft, like: _ _ ____/ \_ _/ \____ \_/ Kinda like that (i hope it shows properly), the exact way can be fine tuned i guess, and that thing rotates the wheels i think, but also rotates a circle of X number of sensors that detect a static block (or the opposite i guess), when a sensor detects the block, the corresponding piston activates and extends (or contracts, i guess depends on the whole configuration), kinda like cars, except you don't use fuel to extend the piston. At least that's 1 version i've seen, but it has a few issues, the torque is ok, but it isn't too high, and if something with higher torque forcefully rotates the engine in reverse, then it will accelerate in reverse. (thus you may have to have a reset button that freezes the engine to then push forward again). They aren't the smallest things too. The reason the piston engine actually works, is because you can forcefully contract/extend a piston without it being active, it is just that there is friction, so 3-4 pistons does better than 5-6 pistons generally, because each active piston pushes all the inactive pistons. Potentially a more advanced version is with controllers, if you can set custom piston lengths, to have more active pistons at a time, thus increasing efficiency, but i don't know how well it behaves with more parts. Since they do take ticks to activate (and thus the biggest problem with sensors in a lot of games, sensor-based things are considerably slow for all the wacky stuff you want to use them)
Also add a gas engine on the controller car/truck. Then connect them to your forward steering wheels and have that gas engine on a controller. So you can primarily have 2wd but when you need it, 4wd on demand.
Btw being sensitive may be good, if it used in a heavy haulage application, since there appears to be problems with high weight vehicles with only a single pair of steering wheels, especially with long wheelbase/trailer pulling application. I would suggest having two pairs of steering wheels to help tighten up the turning circle. Also weight your front axle.
Or you can run your "axis based propulsion" the same way torsion bars are laid under the vehicles. No one forces you to have 4x4. You can make it 8x4 with middle wheels being propulsion wheels with a bit of "chessboard" offset. Or you can have 4x4, but change actual turning mechanism from turning wheels to turning parts of the hull. Would be nice to see what you'd come up with when you try piston ones. Hopefully you wouldn't drop fuel and batteries either just to preserve at least a visibility of fairness too.

You could go for limited powered front wheels (rather than the multiple bearings per axle, just use a single one), but I don't know how well that'd handle (thinking about it a bit more- probably not well, but it might be entertaining)
There's a much more powerful fuelless engine, the animal engine. Just trap an animal in your vehicle, and using a piston raise/lower their favorite food. they will walk towards it, providing a surprising amount of thrust.

You can split the bearings to different controllers, say if you had 4 per wheel, 2 to each controller, put one controller on the seat and one on a switch, when you want more speed turn on second controller, just don't forget to turn it off when you get off or vehicle continues at slow speed with out you
Instead of havving front and back wheels on separate rotators (sorry forgot the word 🤣) why not have the front wheels on a single axis in the middle of the vehicle. It might be a bit less sturdy but the roll to the side when you turn could look kinda cool like its own suspension 🤣
u dont need the vacuum pipe to connect the items btw the chest own connection points can connect to each other so technically u can make a loop with just chest connecting everything together
What if you set it to turn the bearing 1 degree, but on loop? That should stop it from continuing to move a full rotation when you tap the button.... but having "loop" enabled should let it continuously rotate forward one degree forever. maybe I'm wrong.

A tip to prevent that, and also to lessen the amount of horizontal space that the wheels take:
Place the turning bearing closer to the wheels. Then, you go in [towards the car's center] and then place the power bearings.
If you put the power bearing before the turning bearing, the wheel will revolve around the axil, not rotate.

Make a piston engine. You need to make your own crankshaft. That's the only hard part. Turn linear motion into rotational.
I wouldn't worry about wasting potatoes. You can grow tons of them easily and it's what the people wanna see

I think you can place the bearings directly onto each other instead of putting a rod in between them and so save lot of space.
Sadly that isn't the case, It was one of the first things I tried! Would make things far easier haha! :)
I wonder, is there any way to stagger the bearings spinning up to full? It would help with the jerkiness quotient.
You can split the bearings to different controllers, say if you had 4 per wheel, 2 to each controller, put one controller on the seat and one on a switch, when you want more speed turn on second controller, just don't forget to turn it off when you get off or vehicle continues at slow speed with out you
