      @@DommeDakDuif It's been a hot minute, but what I did was have the vehicle built like a crane, I would pick up a material storage thing, lift it over to where I'm mining, and have the drills begin harvesting, I'd do this a couple of times and would basically clear the upper part pretty easy. I'd then have a conveyer and drop-off point to unload.

    • @xpen2007
      @xpen2007 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agreed on all points. But its also important to use the heaviest blocks as base to make a compact but very heavy machine. No supension at the wheels but if you use two drills, use suspensions as connectors to the drills in oder to make sure that both drills get contactto the rock. If you don't mind a bit of glitch use, then i recommend the suspension steering glitch. That should be all moveable parts, as many not rigidly attached parts cost alot of processing time and therefore slow down the minig rate considerably.

    Nice! I have a pretty decent mining vehicle, but even that one sometimes just doens't work all that well because of the sliding around and collisions just sometimes not being detected. This is the most Scrap Mechanic way of doing it imo. If the game is broken af, just use it to your advantage!

    Separate your collectors from your mining vehicle, put them on a trailer or a separate vehicle and keep them away from whatever you are mining/ cutting. For some reason it messes with collisions having them too close to the mineable object and as a result it takes longer to mine. As much as I love making epic machinery to do these jobs, it seems that simple is far more effective. A small drill or saw vehicle plus a detachable collector trailer or a larger refinery vehicle that you weld your smaller vehicle onto for transport is the most effective way.

    A highly skilled player might be able to build a mobile mining arm platform with multiple joints in it, meaning you could bend and position the drill arm to mine an entire outcrop. If it can’t reach all of it, you might be able to retract the arm and drive around to the other side.

    my solution to mining vehicle is a large three part truck truck with one scout vehicle to find rock nodes (because the truck is fuel heavy) then i take the truck to a node and then detach my semi auto drill machine which is a big wall around the node with drills up top which slowly come down and mine the rocks then i press a button which brings down the collectors which collect all the rods and go back up to the refinery up top which refines the rods

      Ember is the real problem, limits the superior stat blocks.
      Wood and Stone are finite to my knowledge, so anything that uses them is restricted.
      The only blocks I would build with are Carpet, Bubble, and Tier 3 Metal.
      Carpet can almost literally be farmed, and Bubble is infinite with an Oil Pond. Tier 3 metal is indestructible to all but the Big Red, so it gets used for many seemingly unrelated tasks that take advantage of this property: such as holding pistons and suspension (which only truly break when the block they're connected to is destroyed), passively protecting farmland, or as struts under the water, and an armored band at water level.
      I want a better glass block, both in stats and texture.

      @@techstuff9198 This used to be true. Metal 2 used to be invulnerable to haybots and totebots and they would not even attempt to attack it, but it's changed quite a while ago. Now it's just very unlikely to get damaged with a single hit, every hit has a chance of around 0.1 % to damage metal 2 IIRC. Even lower with Metla 3, but eventually it will get damaged. The only invulnerable objects are probably warehouse keys and bodybags. But warehouse keys will all be turned into circuit boards when Chapter 2 is released.
      I actually use Metal 1 a lot because there is an infinite amount of Scrap metal dropping from bots and you can craft that into metal 1. But of course it depends on the situation, in a place where it gets destroyed too quickly I'll use metal 3 and if I ever do run out of Ember I'll just cheat in some more using dev commands. I want to be able to keep playing in 1 world forever if I choose to. And maybe some day they'll let us grow trees and burn trees for ember.

    To make it clear for vehical requirements. You are looking for something very close to the ground so it can't get them stuck underneath. With a smaller wheel base for a tighter turn radius. Some weight so it's easier to stay on the against the rocks. And a movable drill so you can hit what you want easier. This list is why a vehical is costly for this job. His method is perfectly fine to get that initial amount of resources easier. Pro tip: do not combine refinement/transport vehicals with your resource mining/cutting vehicals because it makes them too big and unwieldy for either job

Then just wiggle the head back and forth over the rocks and it takes care of it quite handily. Alternatively, just using the controller alone for mining head controls works quite well too.

  • @WynterLegend
    @WynterLegend 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hope this is supposed to be a joke. You mine more quickly the more rigid the machine is. Electric Motors have better grip. Create a mining arm to reach for the rocks from stable ground. Also, having Resource Collectors on your vehicle impedes the physics of the drills and rocks. Removing them, or having them on an easily separable trailer, improves this drastically.
    If need be, weld your Arm, or vehicle to a post of blocks to force it's stability. You shouldn't have to, if you give your vehicle appropriate outrigger legs, and can reach the rocks.
    Check out kAn Gaming for his "Jitter Piston" telescoping assembly, if you're looking for ideas on how to create the mining arm I mentioned.

    But I think I will stick the vehicles. While these methods show value. They don't help with the whole mining. Sure you can knock down rocks but the idea is to get all the metal and stone minded, processed and ready for transport as soon as possible.
    Your method does pretty good with the first but does nothing with finishing mining, possessing and storing it.
    You still wind up with a mess which may take you even longer than what you began with.
    Maybe finding a more efferent way while using vehicles would be a better method.
    I mine, but then sometimes have to dismount to bust up the smaller peace's before advancing. But when I do, those pieces get sucked up by my vehicle's collector. Which is in tern sent to be processed. Which is then stored.

    I’m going to do a mining vehicle with this kind of arm on it

  • @casualbird7671
    @casualbird7671 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I mean, at this point.. why not just install this kind of rotating arm on a vehicle that can move it into position?~

  • @incognito8p298

    Mine only has one drill bit has a crane I can re position without too much movement

    You still need to get the small pieces so you need a car after all unless you want to punch all the peices

    The easiest way to mine rocks in scrap mechanic survival is actually with explosives

    So... I can do that and put it in a mining machine

    I still think mining vehicles are better. And component kits aren't that rare. You can just get like 6 component kits in one ruin.

    yeah... imma stick with a 3x3 of drills pressed agains the stone nodes

  • @Midrealm_DM

    Your example mining vehicle used gas engines, you get better performance , more control, and less slippage with an electric drive. You should try electric before condemning the mining vehicle.
    Also - your time comparison is flawed as you did not factor in the amount of time it is going to take to rebuild that machine over and over to mine all the stone down to rods. Which, if they start rolling away, will require you to rebuild many, many times.
    And before anyone says 'just use a hammer' - the point is to build a machine to do the hard work, not to do it by hand.

    This was like watching an infomercial,
    "Are you tired of knives that don't cut?"(shows regular knife being used sideways crushing a tomato)"you should buy our knife"(shows knife being used properly cutting tomato)
    Know what, no. It's like a parody of one of those infomercial, where the knife being sold crushes the tomato even when used correctly.
    I've seen plenty of mining vehicles do fine. Just build a bobcat equivalent, and take care of the broken stone as you go. Or if your parents paid for your computer, just lag the f@#k out of it until it overheats
    Gawd I hate this type of video

    Dude. Just put the first vertical method on a car. Or even just put the drill on a long stick so ypu dont have to drive up the hill
