They're so cute and funny!! Hope all bird owners see this video and treat their birds the same way you're treating yours. Unfortunately, most bird owners they treat their birds like toys. They play with them in the beginning and then when they get bored or don't have time for them, they keep them locked in the cage and don't give them any attention or affection.

Thank you so much. I 100% agree, I lot of people purchase/adopt birds after seeing a cute video on social media and expect their bird to do the same. They don’t realize the love and time you need to put into the relationship and bond with the birds. Which leads them to get rehomed a few times over their lifetime 😔

We play with Coco as often as we can when not at work and she is very loving and attached to us but I worry she would be happier with another caigue to keep her company when we aren't there. The breeder advised us not to get another caigue if we wanted her to bond with us. What do you guys think?

It really depends on the caique. Our first Caique Scout loves us so much and loves to be with us. When we got Tonks she became a little bit more independent but still loves to be with us.
We got Tonks a year after Scout and Tonks is obsessed with us as soon as she is out of the cage she is on us, wants to play with us.
It’s worked out well for us! For the first 3 months we had to have them in separate cages and watched them outside the cage. As caiques can be territorial

    Do they ever fly off?

One suffers from a bit of anxiety and chews on her wings 😔. The other her wings were butchered when we got her and took her over a year to grow them back.

@@scoutthecaiqueparrot9288 Thanks for the reply! We lost our caique in February, so it's lovely to get a regular 'dose' of yours. They are such characters, although a real handful for the novice parrot owner. They think they are 6 feet tall I'm sure! We had a word that described ours perfectly: 'sweevil' LOL!

I’m so sorry for your lose, how old was your caique? Sweevil! I love it! They definitely are a handful! Big personalities for such small animals!

I would to be able to my caigue outside without being in ber cage. Aren't you frightened they will get spooked and fly away?

Tonks wings were clipped when we got her and they were still growing back at this point. Scout has a bit of anxiety and barbers her wings so she can’t fly.
