Good point, I was worried about fuel though as the missiles were at the limit of their annoyingly short range. Probably could have manage it if I was careful though.
Yes, I should have generalised more and said that 'normally cruise missile are a tactical option'. Although from the yield of a nuke carried by a Tomahawk that's probably more a tactical option than a strategic option still.
The Soviets had loads of cruise missile submarines during the Cold War, mainly intended to attack US carrier battle groups. These are classed as anti-ship missiles but technically, they're pretty much the same as cruise missiles. They didn't use torpedo tubes either: they either launched from tubes at an fixed angle or they elevated like the ones on this sub do. Good effort!
The four Ohio class subs that were converted from SSBNs to SSGNs were the Ohio, Michigan, Florida and Georgia. They now carry 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles with 7 missiles each in 22 of their 24 vertical launch tubes. The last two tubes were converted into special operation dive chambers. Other armament options depending on mission are possible. Back a couple of years ago the Navy had all four of these SSGNs in the waters around N. Korea as a show of force.
im actually russian and im annoyed when you do that''russian sound''. Because we dont talk like that.We talk normally like everybody else. And Da svidanye!
There is not a single cruise missile that uses an SRB to get out of the water. Rocket fuel does not burn under the water. All sub surface missiles use compressed air to shoot it out of the water, then whatever engines they use ignite.
Ya'll are way wrong, missiles are fired out of the torpedo tube then move up to the surface with a torpedo propeller that then drops and the engine ignites.
About the shrouded propeller talk, the russian Akula-class or more commonly known as the typhoon does utilize the shrouded propeller design. A bit late but, I only found this video recently
Cruise missiles were originally designed as tac nukes, and still can have a nuclear warhead placed in them. The Tomahawk was designed to be used with the W-88 MRV nuclear warhead, for example.
One Thing you can do if you don't like how the romfarer missiles home is you could attach them to your actual missile and use them only for splash damage (preferably the small missile).
I have my definition right. However I think you are referring to ICBMs rather than just 'ballistic missiles' in general. Many SRBMs have a considerably shorter range than long range Cruise Missiles.
Glad the Styx Dominion are getting involved! Looking forward to a joint strike soon! Even with their combined forces it'll be difficult to take out the NAT. It'll require alot of preparation I expect, satellites in orbit, walking death robots, flying fortresses, well, you know what you're doing!
13 they kidnapped Dudbur. 14 they killed Dudbur. 16 and 17 they attacked us pretending to be the Styx. 18 Jeb explains they engineered the whole conflict and the EE, Styx and NAT end up at war. :)
Just a tip, I've served in the NAVY enough to know the Engine is NOT the screw, the propeller is. I've also read enough Clancy to know you paid no attention to what you're reading.
Elysium, the Vanguard subs fire Trident nuclear missiles, the Vanguard and Astute class subs fire Cruise missiles. No mixing and matching in our navy :)
2 things 1 cruise missiles CAN be nuclear though most of the ones used today have pretty much high explosive warheads and 2 the lazor mod missiles are OP I agree though the mod it's self is fun just don't fire (if you use them for some reason) the cruise missile towards space as it can leave the Kerbin solar system and don't fire the M model in an upward angle as it will doesn't not have enough power to lift it's own weight but it can fly for a good ways (about 3km from about a height of 1km). The small missiles don't seem to bad but haven't fully tested them and the pirated weaponry mod has some missiles of it's own and are slightly weaker but also haven't fully tested them either.
While rather late- have you considered flipping the radial decouplers upside down so the side that's being fired is "clean"? If need be they can be fitted on top of other decouplers in a more traditional orientation (so they don't adversely affect stability if it matters). Not sure if they should be slaved to different stages/action groups, or if they'd work if fired simultaneously.
Just a suggestion if your wanting the Lazor missle weapons but not super OP. go into their config files and change them down to about 10% of their original power and radius then they are more fun especially for space battles
VariSandburn's actually right - SLBMs (Not SRBMs, SLBM - Sub Launched Ballistic Missiles, SRBMs are land-based) have several thousand-mile range; Cruise Missiles can indeed be armed with nuclear-warheads, though this isn't common, and usually have a hundred-mile to thousand-mile, give or take, range. You claimed 6-kilometer range for SRBMs (when you meant SLBMs), which would spell suicide were they nuclear-tipped. SRBMs actually are around 100km range, to boot.
We will pass through the Elysian patrols, past their sonar nets, and lay off their largest city, and listen to their rock and roll... while we conduct missile drills.
Also, most cruise missile subs are just SSBNs that have had their ICBMs swapped out for a load of smaller cruise missiles. For example, the Ohio class formerly had 24 ICBMs and now carries 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles, or as stated above, tac nukes if the need arises.
it may be Kerbal Space Program but it's a SANDBOX GAME, meaning people can play it however they like, go watch the earlier vids in the series if you want to see more space related things.
As far as I'm aware/read all of the current American missile submarines are capable of launching cruise missiles from there missile bays. A very small handful of US subs have had their SLBM capacity removed in favor of only cruise missiles (something like 3 or 4 subs in total).
An excellent Count Russcula accent. That's possibility the coolest weapon system in the series yet, though the results were less than perfect. Any thoughts on using launch to water mods by Snjo or Infinitedice?
no it didn't miss the missile bounced of the ground and scraped the front of the tank. the second of the video where the frame got frozen is simply because of lag.
In the end when you... I mean the Styxian general said wrong in the catchphrase it would have been funny if you had gone like "Fly saf... no wait, that not it... correct catchphrase is... Stay shiny!" Every TH-camr should have catchphrases like that.
4 Ohio class submarines were converted to carry tomahawks all the tubes had 7 put in them, giving the sub a max of 168 tomahawks. the Ohio, Michigan Georgia and i think Florida they also were given dry deck shelters for special operations.
"That Great For Propaganda Video" That line... It made me cry for how funny it was! Just a suggestion for a future build, why not try to build a scram jet or a ram jet? Seems like a pretty cool concept that could fit in with the story of this :D
Hey, big fan of yours by the way, but you should use the KerbTown mod to make a Styx city, and you could even launch from their too. Search it on the forums.
I think your first missiles are flying down because the SAS is on and the missiles are trying to hold the attitude you set the sub to so they are steering downwards
Hmm, to make the rocket launch more realistic, You should let it surface with engine off, then when it's above and just starting to fall back down, BAMMM!! ignition. Real rockets surface surrounded by air bubbles at very high speed.
Have you considered using boost rockets as plane launched missiles? put a few decouplers with the boosts in staging and "dive bombing" your enemies? just wondering how well it would work honestly
it would be nice if there was a folder or something with all the mods already in it available for download, because installing all these mods is a pain in the ass
Elysium, I believe there's a part in the control tab that will automatically put your submarine into the water if you didn't know already. Makes the wheels unnecessary :)
I love how there's a giant war and Kerbal Space Program has the most peaceful music on. LOL
its so everyone stays calm
Yea
"Stay… Well buffed!"
I love it.
I cant tell whether hes Russian or british
He's British, he's just putting on a fake Russian accent because that's the accent the Styx Dominion character he's playing has.
@@yetanother9127 Never heard of sarcasm/joke eh?
@@brysonkuervers2570 There is no indication that OP was joking. This thread is six years old.
This is awesome. Love how much you put into this.
to be fair, most subs dont go too fast on land
this is by far my most-anticipated youtube series, excellent job!
#BringBackWorldWarK
Good point, I was worried about fuel though as the missiles were at the limit of their annoyingly short range. Probably could have manage it if I was careful though.
the styx techniology works better then elysium empire LOL
Yes, I should have generalised more and said that 'normally cruise missile are a tactical option'. Although from the yield of a nuke carried by a Tomahawk that's probably more a tactical option than a strategic option still.
''We will use it to go to KFC'' did i hear that correctly?
The Soviets had loads of cruise missile submarines during the Cold War, mainly intended to attack US carrier battle groups. These are classed as anti-ship missiles but technically, they're pretty much the same as cruise missiles. They didn't use torpedo tubes either: they either launched from tubes at an fixed angle or they elevated like the ones on this sub do. Good effort!
Was this supposed to be from styx point of view or EE point of view?
EDIT: Never mind
In short, the Styx.
The four Ohio class subs that were converted from SSBNs to SSGNs were the Ohio, Michigan, Florida and Georgia. They now carry 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles with 7 missiles each in 22 of their 24 vertical launch tubes. The last two tubes were converted into special operation dive chambers. lmao 6:04 made in china?
***** dude Mexico in like 5th place in car manufacturing
***** hahahhahaha
***** all those tacos would do something to you
thesleppymexican all those bacons and hamburguers would do something to you
you're awesome! awesome mods, awesome gameplay, and even some lessons about war, keep it up!
im actually russian and im annoyed when you do that''russian sound''.
Because we dont talk like that.We talk normally like everybody else.
And Da svidanye!
you should it sounds cool i kinda wanna talk like that...
GuZtaW he's German
Dasvidanye*
Adolf Titler
OH HELL NO!
Roni Pränny So what? Attila was a Hun, and his name was from Germanic roots.
Great job getting that huge B9 submarine to float! Those parts are HEAVY.
There is not a single cruise missile that uses an SRB to get out of the water. Rocket fuel does not burn under the water. All sub surface missiles use compressed air to shoot it out of the water, then whatever engines they use ignite.
False. The rocket engine does not ignite in the launch bay. Do you realize how stupid that would be?
I never implied they could not be launched from under water. I said rockets require oxygen to burn.
Kevlar Burrito Rockets, most assuredly, do not require oxygen to burn. If that were true, they wouldn't work in space.
Ya'll are way wrong, missiles are fired out of the torpedo tube then move up to the surface with a torpedo propeller that then drops and the engine ignites.
Sabrina No, the missiles are moved to the surface by telepathy and then launched to their target using the power of friendship!
I learn more from you than a History lesson! Great video as always Elysium!
About the shrouded propeller talk, the russian Akula-class or more commonly known as the typhoon does utilize the shrouded propeller design. A bit late but, I only found this video recently
one of your best episodes so far. keep it up!
Cruise missiles were originally designed as tac nukes, and still can have a nuclear warhead placed in them. The Tomahawk was designed to be used with the W-88 MRV nuclear warhead, for example.
I love how the last 2 episodes have been taking out one friggin' tank
Hehe it took some 'persuading'. :P Thanks for the epic mod!
One Thing you can do if you don't like how the romfarer missiles home is you could attach them to your actual missile and use them only for splash damage (preferably the small missile).
the instant switch from a Russian accent to a British accent... love it!
An unexpected help, you have some great ideas Elysium
I have my definition right. However I think you are referring to ICBMs rather than just 'ballistic missiles' in general. Many SRBMs have a considerably shorter range than long range Cruise Missiles.
Glad the Styx Dominion are getting involved! Looking forward to a joint strike soon! Even with their combined forces it'll be difficult to take out the NAT. It'll require alot of preparation I expect, satellites in orbit, walking death robots, flying fortresses, well, you know what you're doing!
I know, I justI think a tea cozy convention is more fun.
Great episode as usual and nice idea mirroring the footage.
I have not loled that hard in one of your wwk videos in a while XD
this is my first vid for your channel so when you switched your accent it was SCARY
13 they kidnapped Dudbur. 14 they killed Dudbur. 16 and 17 they attacked us pretending to be the Styx. 18 Jeb explains they engineered the whole conflict and the EE, Styx and NAT end up at war. :)
I imagine a 'comicozy' being a Comicon for teacozys.
you need to do more of these types of wwk!
Overhead attack. Arch up, strike down. Tanks are larger targets from above. Also, try making a super tank for NAT. Like, 20m long, 10m wide.
Just a tip, I've served in the NAVY enough to know the Engine is NOT the screw, the propeller is.
I've also read enough Clancy to know you paid no attention to what you're reading.
Hey, I really enjoyed this video, please make more!
Elysium, the Vanguard subs fire Trident nuclear missiles, the Vanguard and Astute class subs fire Cruise missiles. No mixing and matching in our navy :)
Good video, put a smile on my face, Styx and Elysium Empire...hmm...a change for good...or is it a coup de ta? I can't wait for the next episode
That was awesome! Styx shall unite with Elysium and destroy NAT! I feel a great bond between Elysium and Styx!
Right click, and drag. You can move the view around in the latest patch just like when you're flying a ship.
Have you ever been sailing, it has to be the single most physically and mentally demanding Olympic sport.
Subs should be stealthy, but this thing has a GIANT sonar signature
Now I want an epic battle between an aircraft carrier and a submarine
That is because he wanted to make the space center to look like a different one since the focus was on styx instead of elysian empire
Just a suggestion if your wanting the Lazor missle weapons but not super OP. go into their config files and change them down to about 10% of their original power and radius then they are more fun especially for space battles
Nice change of theme something different finally so now Styx are semi allies with the Elysian
What you should have done as well was attach a few decouplers to the missiles to give it an area effect rather than it being a kinetic kill vehicle.
Thanks dude!
The sub's engine is actually a propeller, but would not get funding if flames didn't come out the end
He sailed over to the other end without recording, THEN he swam back to KSC to make it look like he took off from the other end.

i like how the space center is inverted for the styx corperation
We will pass through the Elysian patrols, past their sonar nets, and lay off their largest city, and listen to their rock and roll... while we conduct missile drills.
Decommissioned? They are still in use.
*Builds Styx Submarine*
*Builds it inside an Elysian Building*
YOU HAD ONE JOB, STYX. ONE JOB.
it may be Kerbal Space Program but it's a SANDBOX GAME, meaning people can play it however they like, go watch the earlier vids in the series if you want to see more space related things.
You sound as knowledgeable as me. I am extremely impressed!
Hail Genii!
As far as I'm aware/read all of the current American missile submarines are capable of launching cruise missiles from there missile bays. A very small handful of US subs have had their SLBM capacity removed in favor of only cruise missiles (something like 3 or 4 subs in total).
trust me... that is not always the issue... but some times it is, but some times it is not. it is because some people do it accidentally.

Hey, big fan of yours by the way, but you should use the KerbTown mod to make a Styx city, and you could even launch from their too. Search it on the forums.
Their excuse was 'they didn't think anyone would be there'.... yeah right.
this guy deserves so many more subs
Subs like submarines
Another awesome WWK Keep up the amazing work.
I think your first missiles are flying down because the SAS is on and the missiles are trying to hold the attitude you set the sub to so they are steering downwards
I could imagine the transmission from the sub back to Styx HQ going like "Comrade! Good news from the Western Front!"
This episode was the coolest to me
The definition is that a cruise missile cruises whereas a ballistic missile follows a ballistic arc... the clue is in the name.
I was playing around with this mod, Was hoping you would do this :D
This is obvious show of comradeship with enemy of common foe. Definitely not mistake!
This was a really good episode!
I think the Styx and the NATs are getting better stuff....that works...
This is how accurate the REAL cruise missiles are as well!
Hmm, to make the rocket launch more realistic, You should let it surface with engine off, then when it's above and just starting to fall back down, BAMMM!! ignition. Real rockets surface surrounded by air bubbles at very high speed.
Should've done 20 plus small, but powerful missiles racked vertically in the bay. More firepower.
There is too much thrust up front, if you move or remove some of the solid fuel thrusters it should work well.
Hellooo this is FPSStyx, and today I have something very special for you; the nuclear missile submarine.
WHEN PART 21 COMES OUT IVE BEEN DIEING TO WATCH IT ALL WEEL D:
Elysium, I believe there's a part in the control tab that will automatically put your submarine into the water if you didn't know already. Makes the wheels unnecessary :)
it is so the styx space center looks different to the elysium space center because it makes it look like the are facing in different directions
LOL that tank actualy can move but he didnt expected to hit just front :D
Elysium, you should soon launch a Bomber at the NAT Base [Make it the hidden KSC in the Hills]
Awesome!!! I can't wait to see more of these videos!
I believe the Tomahawk missile was decomissioned because they were like 1.4 million dollars per missile. So, thats a thing.
I was correcting grammar not discussing the location of the Styx Dominion but thanks for the info. =)
submarines use propellers like giant boat propellers
its realy good to see the styx empire lend a hand GO STYX
