It's aftermarket parts like the Type-97. Half assed modifications to chamber Western rounds and mount Western attachments when the gun wasn't built for such things. This thing was originally made for 5.8mm, not 9mm. Not to mention the sights aren't original from the manufacturer.
JAGGEDCAN9NE but he’s also probably wrong as Chinese Police who uses them have problems with them. Although he might be true as Remember the Civilian version of the G36? Thing was utter trash. However a caliber change shouldn’t make it that detrimental and bad.
Check out slow motion videos of AKs and many other guns. Many people are shocked to find out out much flexing a gun does when fired. It still amazes me how much flexing you often see with some scopes and their mounts.
I'm pretty sure most, if not, all guns rattle around a lot when fired in full auto. AKs do it. Even M16s. The Slow Mo Guys have a video of them firing some variant of M4 on full auto and it shakes around violently.
As a Chinese I never realized the thing was open bolt up until now! You would think that a modern looking 9mm sub gun should be closed bolt, if not some sort of delayed blowback or even locked action.
You can't really beat an open bolt design when it comes to simplicity and cost of manufacture. Sure it comes with some disadvantages but so does every other option. A high fire rate SMG is not designed for accuracy or long distances. It's designed to put a lot of lead into the air between you and the perps at short, often indoors distances. Something like this will do that and do it on the cheap. As for reliability some of the most reliable SMG's are open bolt blowback designs. The advantage they have is their simplicity. The disadvantage is that the open bolt tends to invite dust and debris into the mechanism. The simplicity however allows for very loose tolerances which means a gun can still work with a lot of crud in the works. Having said all that I have to admit that I have no idea about the reliability of this particular SMG. If you start looking at guns around the world it's quite surprising that there are so many unreliable guns that not only made it into production, but even got adapted by military forces.
@@blahorgaslisk7763 Pretty sure this smg is used in a lot of the Chinese SWAT units where IMO they need to be accurate. This is also why I had the impression that they were closed bolt.
Open bolt design and fixed firing pins makes for dependable machine guns. That is why in the United States, it is illegal to own a open bolt or fixed firing pin gun.

"You could compare this to an MP5 except the MP5 is better in just about every way." 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤦♂️😉 You can tell when Ian really loves something and that aint this.
well bullpup can give you longer barrel without prolonging whole weapon - but then if prolongation of a barrel comes at a cost, of well, basic weapon's functionality, then question arise if they really should have done that. and yeah P90 beats this thing on probably every level...... ok maybe not every - if this thing's magazine works properly all the time then there would be at least this advantage.... (P90 had issues with bullet's jamming on rotation part of their magazine)
Aneudy Sanchez, it also reminded me of the P90. If only it didn't have that horrible magazine sticking out! With a horizontal one, it would at least be nicely compact - and more expensive, complex and unreliable, I guess.
Chinese went bullpup with everything, even LMG (type 95), which has asymmetric drum mag. They even made their light rifle and pistol/SMG ammo the same bore size (kinda like Soviets did in the 1930s).
In terms of that rubbish iron sight block, CS/LS2 spotted in Chinese police force hands often mounted with other sights: red dots, EOT552 and etc. And in recent years, they're moving away from all those bullpup chassis and embracing the more conventional designs. Rumour has it that they will debut the new standard issue AR model this year.
True, many Chinese sources have rumours and prediction bout next gen PLA rifle will be AR base ACR alike pattern rifle firing mid-cal ammunition. I don't think they will totally give up 5.8 that easy but adding mid-cal firepower to infantry squad seems possible
I can name one redeeming quality. It's relatively unknown and futuristic looking, meaning that if you swap out the sight, glue some flaps and do-dats to it and swap out the real ammo for blanks, it could indeed be used in a futuristic action movie. Ironically, that means making it less gun is the solution
I think that if someone jumped up and unloaded that thing in my direction, I'd be pretty startled at least. The jiggly effect would likely give it good area coverage, for when you just have to put a bullet in everything all at once. Seems like it would be good indoors and in trenches, though I think I would immediately cut a piece of gel boot insole for damping the bolt. Then I would rub some dirt on the threads of them sight rail bolts to take up some of that clearance. It also seemed like you were not using subsonic rounds with that suppressor. That could be causing a lot of the trouble. At least it doesn't have a drum magazine. :P I suspect that the ideal use for this would be mounting it on low-value robots and drones. The scatter, ROF and smallness are good features for communications lag and hit-and-run attacks within battery time limits.
It's export version, The original version of this weapon uses 5.8x21mm pistol ammo instead of 9mm para, which provides much more power and muzzle velocity. Also some version has a rail to change scopes.
Yeah from what I've read, they made this one for export and keep the 5.8 to themselves. It looks different too, with a carry handle over the charging handle.
Haha, Ian being so dismissive of _any_ firearm is super-rare. Too bad he didn't have the time to talk about the history and the mechanics in the video (but understandable since it was impromptu). It would explain why it sucks so much. I'm guessing cost-cutting? It's horrible enough that you can see the sights coming loose in the slow-mo...
There's a strong possibility that the weapon functions better firing the 5.8x21 subsonic cartridge it was designed for. Probably much less recoil, and the bolt isn't slamming back quite as hard as it does in 9mm.
It was lack of development time, the entire QBZ program from conception to service was given just *2 years* to complete in order to be ready for the PRC's 60th anniversary parade in 1999 and most of that was spent of the standard QBZ-95 service rifle. Thats a ludicrously tiny amount of time to create a whole family of weapons from scratch and it shows from the large amount of easily avoidable ergonomic issues the family suffers from.
Sound suppression works best on closed bolt weapons but with five five tuning and the right sub sonic ammo you can get a truly quiet rifle. I saw an Ak made so quiet the machinery of the cycling bolt made more noise. It was like a loud sewing machine.
@Zach cash Subsonic ammo is rarely used at long range. The primary use is sentry take out. The last 20 feet is the most dangerous part. Well placed 9mm subsonic ammo performs quite well at that range.
The redeeming quality is that it's better than UMP-9 in every way if you're trained enough for bullpup guns. It also features above-average barrel length due to bullpup design that can make 9x19(proper smg loads anyway, like Russia's 7N31) perform better. It's not a mp5-competitor, it's like ump-just better. Unfortunately nobody wants ump either.
the Chinese military doesn't really use this gun, only some SWAT teams over there. instead they mostly use the QBZ 95 rifle that's chambered for the 5.8x42 round, and that rifle is simply better than that pos Ian showed us in the video, despite of all its problems
@@Azzazinism i wish i have an answer for you but i don't know, sorry (often times when the Chinese military shows itself on TV they mostly show their infantry, which carry the QBZ 95. as for the crews it may be the QBZ 95-B, or basically the compact version of the 95?)
Nihlus Kriyk as far as I know tank crew usually only have pistols and hand grenades as self defense weapons, but there has been reports saying that a new NORINCO 9mm SMG is under developement to solve the problem.APC crews usually carries type 95 rifles as light infantry do
The chinese military uses the QCW-05 instead of js 9, js 9 is just the 9mm commercial export version for the QCW-05. QCW-05 uses chinese military 5.8x21mm. ye.
From what i've read this gun was designed to use the 5.8x28mm DAP-92 proprietary ammo, which is a high velocity, low caliber PDW round, and supposedly kicks less than the 9mm shown in this video because its a lighter bullet. The 9mm version shown in this video was more of an afterthought because the chinese wanted to export the gun. The chinese also use a 50rd quad stack magazines for their 5.8mm type05s instead of the 30rd magazines for the 9mm export versions.

I think the only redeeming quality is that it disassembles itself to make putting it back in a case and forgetting about it just that bit easier.
Did anyone else notice the frame flexing during the slow-motion scene? The barrel was waving up and down.
Check out slow motion videos of AKs and many other guns. Many people are shocked to find out out much flexing a gun does when fired. It still amazes me how much flexing you often see with some scopes and their mounts.
@@wilsonj4705 Yup. Seen that, too.

All barrels flex to some extent. If they did not they would break.
Kriss Vector looks like it will explode in slowmo

I had a stroke reading this
Aren’t SMG’s short enough already to not warrant a bullpup design? This seems like a much, much worse P90
well bullpup can give you longer barrel without prolonging whole weapon - but then if prolongation of a barrel comes at a cost, of well, basic weapon's functionality, then question arise if they really should have done that.
and yeah P90 beats this thing on probably every level...... ok maybe not every - if this thing's magazine works properly all the time then there would be at least this advantage.... (P90 had issues with bullet's jamming on rotation part of their magazine)
@@MehrumesDagon If it can't rush B, then it's COMPLETELY under the P90.
@@redtormaximo5530 xD
In terms of that rubbish iron sight block, CS/LS2 spotted in Chinese police force hands often mounted with other sights: red dots, EOT552 and etc.
And in recent years, they're moving away from all those bullpup chassis and embracing the more conventional designs. Rumour has it that they will debut the new standard issue AR model this year.
Where do you find rumors like this?
True, many Chinese sources have rumours and prediction bout next gen PLA rifle will be AR base ACR alike pattern rifle firing mid-cal ammunition. I don't think they will totally give up 5.8 that easy but adding mid-cal firepower to infantry squad seems possible
Wow the flex of this firearm in slow-mo is pretty insane.

In it's defence, it does help you mount an optic by removing the old iron sight rail by itself.

I haven't seen barrel flex like that since the Stg 44. Would be very interested to see how much shaved lead is inside the suppressor.
For all its shortcomings, you have to admit it looks pretty funky
I guess you could use it as a movie prop for some dystopian movie.
Just film China.
The movie could feature Ianman, a gun expert who loves to explain guns to people. :)
This was it's use in a dystopia, need I remind you he said he was in Canada?
I can name one redeeming quality. It's relatively unknown and futuristic looking, meaning that if you swap out the sight, glue some flaps and do-dats to it and swap out the real ammo for blanks, it could indeed be used in a futuristic action movie. Ironically, that means making it less gun is the solution
You can see the sight hardware loosen in slowmo. I have a couple of Norincos that are pretty nice, so all chinese guns aren't bad. Just that one.
Who could ace thought that one of the best smg’s in R6 could be so bad irl

Probably much less recoil, and the bolt isn't slamming back quite as hard as it does in 9mm.
minkus1100, right, thank you.
(I wish this was mentioned in the video, and not only in comments.)
@@fludbludthe fact these guns can still compete on their intended porpouse Is actually admirable with that information
Good thing it has a silencer on it, otherwise you'd be able to hear it

The suppressor flops around like a rubber dingaling in slo mo. LOL
You couldn't get me to put my face next to the chamber of a blowback gun for any amount of money. One OOB detonation and you're gonna be real sorry.
This is the first time I've ever heard what an actual suppressed firearm sounds like, so I guess it's useful as an educational tool.
Sound depends on the ammo also, you can get an MP5 so quiet with subsonics that you only hear the bolt and impact.
The sound record by the camera is "different" to what suppressed firearm actually make. You can check other suppressed SMG video. They are"loud" too.
Recording gear almost never make explosions justice, you can't take anything out of it the audio in this video at all.
It's like they made a firearm specifically for Star Wars stormtroopers.

Agreed! I wish I could like your comment to the top all by myself

The gun in r6 is easily top 5 best smgs
For real, the R6 version is goaded
From what i've read this gun was designed to use the 5.8x28mm DAP-92 proprietary ammo, which is a high velocity, low caliber PDW round, and supposedly kicks less than the 9mm shown in this video because its a lighter bullet. The 9mm version shown in this video was more of an afterthought because the chinese wanted to export the gun. The chinese also use a 50rd quad stack magazines for their 5.8mm type05s instead of the 30rd magazines for the 9mm export versions.
Are there any good features?
