I just got mine yesterday and yes the first 3 things are 1- tinted windows 2- turn signal kit 3- side mirrors. I’ll def be checking out your video on install of mirrors. Great video & nice to come across y’all’s Chanel
@ brakes are bad, clutch has been in 2 times without getting fixed (squawks). Roof leaks, all 4 door seals are falling off, heat doesn’t work at idle, paint failing and flaking off frame and suspension connections, rusting bolts on bed rail track, Bluetooth doesn’t work, can’t talk to the person next to you when driving. Door locks don’t work. Glove box and center console locks don’t work. List goes on. Total crap fit and finish. And trying to get warranty approved by Polaris is a nightmare.
Ive got 600 miles on our xpedition-adv. The noise is super quiet after the clutch upgrade. Weve done some pretty gnarly trails and definitely cant complain about performance. The two machine's are very similar for sure
Beautiful machine ! I am looking at them at the dealership . I've been trying to find info on the machine as far as how deep of water it can go in . No-one seems to know . I run my machine in Florida where during the summer has some pretty deep water spots. Any ideas or have you heard anything from anyone ? Any input would be great . Thanks
Thanks! According to the owners manual they say don’t go past a few inches above the height over the floor board. Reason for that in the center is the air recirculation filter for the HVAC. Granted these do sit pretty tall that’s the first limit in height.
While watching your video of the kids in the back ….I was thinking if you wanted some added protection for them, you can put a pool noodle on the bar in front of them for alittle extra protection. Just an idea. Thanks for the 500 mile review.
I love your rig, the tires and wheels look awesome. I have the 2 door version of your ride and just put new wheels and 32" BFG KM3's on it and it really improved the ride. I agree with your comments on side mirrors and a better stereo for the money, they gave it to the Expedition why short those of us that bought the flagship machine? At $50K these should be standard equipment. I never thought about electric locks just happy that they finally got to 1 key for everything. Good to know about the wrench, mines been on the dash for quite some time now. I also agree with your comments about the tranny but would never go back to a CVT if I didn't have to. So smooth and quiet which is what I was after.
Agreed they spent the money and time on the Expedition they could have done the same on the Ranger especially with the price tag. The tranny will take some time to get used to for climbing but for cruising around it's perfect!
Just got my Northstar XD1500 Extreme in camo. I am in a very mountainous area in southern AZ. I flip mine into Sport mode and it does not seem to have the delay you have experienced. Great review and really nice rig! What did it cost to install the WD street legal package?
The kit starts at $484 and goes up if you want to add extended harness for the switches and if you want a hazard flasher. Time to install is about 3-4 hours for a beginner. They have a great how to install

It’s true that they are high in price but even Polaris said when they released this model that it wouldn’t fit the mass market. This was for the large land owners that had the Denali or king ranch work trucks and needed something to work their properties in style.
They do have a big price tag and to some it makes sense to buy a jeep. In our area they are street legal that’s not an issue for us. We love the plush ride over a jeep
Could it possibly be by putting those larger wheels and tires on the machine? It’s changed the characteristics of the clutch a little bit.? I know when I put larger tires on my jeep, it changes the gearing and torque and the way it feels shifting.
Yes the tire size didn’t help the situation but we experienced similar characteristics even with the stock tires when it was new. We will be releasing a video today on performance between the tire sizes and you can still see how different the transmission performs. It’s not bad, just different.

Hello! In my opinion the expedition is so noisy that it’s a deal breaker for many. The ranger is super quiet and rides very well. The 2 things I wish the ranger had were more laid back seating and better audio. Other than that the ranger seems to be a better more functional machine. The transmission seems to get better with mileage. When we first got it, it seemed to slip but as we have put miles on it, the performance has improved.
I've heard many people say that you have to unbuckle and rebuckle the seatbelt everytime to get full performance out of the machine. Is that your experience?
Came out of the Can Am version last year for NM Elk and Mule Deer - it was a dust magnet. My biggest concern going back to a fully enclosed machine like this would be how bad is the dust inside the cab after an extended timeframe?
From what we have experience and heard from other owners is as long as the front windshield is adjusted (location of most complaints) there is minimal dust. During the cold winter months I could feel a little draft from the door handle and steering column. To prevent that, I kept the air on to “pressurize” the cabin and that kept the cold out. We do the same now in the summer, even just the vent and haven’t seen enough dust to complain. Most of the dust is from opening the doors. Plus the HVAC unit in the Ranger is powerful.

The only complaint I have with mine, is the transmission. It just doesn't seem to grab and go like it feels it should. I also wish they had a high and low gear, like the RZR. Other than that, I love mine!

It’s hard to say with this unit. Normally a UTV is good for 10k miles but this one has larger components/ more automotive style. Longer warranty than the normal 6 months. I want to say has a bumper to bumper for 12 months and then much longer engine and transmission warranty I believe.
How is the power and suspension for the trail? I can’t believe Polaris didn’t get the tranny more programmed for trails. I get that it’s for work but the rangers/defenders have exploded in popularity on the trails due to the hvac cab. I’m in between this or a xpedition 5. 😊
The power and suspension is adequate for trails. The seating position even though is better than past ranger models is still more upright. Kind of like sitting in a single cab truck from the 80’s. The expedition has more comfortable seating but the noise and visibility make it uncomfortable.
I’ve got a 2700 miles on my 1500 ultimate crew and I’ve got a lot of the same thoughts as you guys. The transmission is definitely nice but the low speed the clutch packs on the primary are trying to engage and are slipping when you get into a really heavy load situation when your stuck or climbing over obstacles I’ve had to back up and get a little run to get it to go otherwise it just slips and doesn’t turn the tires (32”). Tow/haul and sport seem to be the best at getting it into the lowest gear ratio possible.
So go into the ride command options by pressing the Polaris symbol. There should be a screen under general that has a slider for screen brightness. Put it in auto mode.
It’s really not that noticeable in real life. The sound is pretty quiet inside the cab. Right now I get more noise feedback from the tires than the engine.
We've only had an issue when we accidentally used the wrong seatbelt buckle. Samantha encountered the alarm the first time she drove but realized she buckled into the Middle Seatbelt Buckle not the Drivers Seatbelt Buckle.
So are these side by sides cheaper than a jeep? Im not sure what all the hubub is about. Seems cool but are they as loud inside as outside when they drive past camp they are way louder than a jeep passing by.
It’s like everything else. There are cheaper models of this vehicle. This one is about as quiet or quieter than a Jeep. As where a RZR is about 90db, this one is at the low 70db at 45 mph inside. The benefit is these are much more nimble and smoother than a Jeep on the occupants. Yes there is a benefit to jeeps in some cases but same with this machine. This machine isn’t for the masses, it was designed and built for a certain group of folks. The people that have large ranches and need to haul stuff over rough roads that you don’t want to take your F-350. This is for the big time hunter/ guides that want to take their clients out back in the woods. Polaris is definitely blurring the line of a sxs and full size suv.
@@505Outsiders I have 2 kids about your kids age 4 and 5 looks perfect to keep them out of the elements that's what caught my attention. How much does a base model enclosed go for. We have a 4 runner for camping and trails but I sure would like to get something I'm not afraid if I break something we can still haul the kids to school Monday in the runner.
Cab enclosure units start at 40k. But the kicker is if you want the HVAC system you need to get a Northstar unit and those start at 44k. Trust me with the enclosure you’ll need the HVAC in the summer
The Ranger AC so far has been impressive. It blows hard and cold. In high 80’s degree temps haven’t even used high yet. It has the recirculation feature which is great to cool down faster.
I should add when you change engine oil make sure you change differential oil maybe even change differential oil sooner both my dads and mine were very dark n had a lot of metal filings in them.
Not all the bells & whistles.. No blinkers or horn.. These can be road legal by adding them where I live.. Catch up with the times Polaris if you expect me to buy one!
True, but i doubt that they will do that since making them street legal opens an another bag of worms. That requires them to comply with air bags, crash testing and other safety requirements that would add cost, and weight and ultimately take the fun out of these smaller machines.
Seems like to me you guys should have bought a 4 seater Polaris xpedition. Has the full cab and everything but it’s more for the trails vs the ranger is more built for work. Either way Polaris has come a very long way
The main reason we stayed away from the Expedition was for the following reasons: 1) The noise is stupid loud in the cab, 2.) The rear doors don’t open all the way, 3.) The quality of the fit and finish in the Expedition is not as sturdy as the Ranger.
They already make things that have all the amenities you are adding and upgrading to. It’s call a jeep. I don’t understand the point of these things. The whole purpose of atv/utv is to have something much smaller, more maneuverable, far cheaper, less maintenance than a traditional vehicle. Now we’re just adding and adding and adding to the point it has the same options a full sized suv.
True, they are getting bigger and hard to justify the cost vs a jeep but the ride quality is unmatched. On the trails the jeeps are still really rough compared to a 4 wheel independent machine.
you complain about uphill performance around 13 min in try putting some bigger tires on it and wear darker glasses so you look cool when it tips over backwards
That's dissapointing to hear about the clutching issue. Alisha and I will probably be getting a enclosed rig down the road so we're comparing models as the reviews come in. Still too early to tell which way we are leaning. She thinks she doesn't mind the cab noise of the expedition but we'll see what happens when she test drives one.

Exactly, there is no “Perfect” machine but this one is pretty close for what it was intended for. Like we said, we originally thought of buying it to sell it. Now it’s part of our fleet and can’t wait to see what other things we can do with it.

I heard her say 50,000.00 it’s a good looking machine but I could buy a Jeep Wrangler for that and drive it on the road also

If you don’t buckle up every time you get in it will not give you full power. It will limit the RPM’s

How many miles do you have on your ranger? We are at 830ish miles and it feels stronger after more miles on it.

I don’t know. You have to check with your local authorities. In New Mexico it varies by city and county

There should be a tiny magnet inside the seat belt. Remove it and the microswitch will always register that.a buckle is plugged in.

lol they might be small but hubby and I are 6’2” and 5’11”. Plus by the time you add the kids and their car seats it don’t take long to fill the cab.
