    Commonly prescribed and commonly confused, these three are very important need to know medications, not just in Pharmacology class but in all classes, ATI and NCLEX.

    Betablockers are not contraindicated in diabetes, but they are used with caution.

    Any antihypertensive medications once its started can't be stopped..other wise on stopping antihypertensive medicines severe hypertension will be precipitated..that means the condition will be worst on stopping any antihypertensive drugs

    So the drug is named after all side effects?? When I was on losinapril I was told I'd have dizziness..I swelled like a puffer fish, scared the mess out of me. My doctor knew instantly what caused it but gave no warnings..

    • @thatnursingprof2661
      @thatnursingprof2661  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its not named after the side effects but its a tool to help remember them. That's horrible that you didn't receive proper medication education 🙁

    I got prescribed Olmesarten and I'm afraid to take it...does it make you swell like lisinopril? By bp was 178/118 this morning

    • @thatnursingprof2661
      @thatnursingprof2661  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not heard of that causing swelling and its not listed as a common side effect. Unfortunately with certain conditions like hypertension physicians have to try a variety of medications until they find the one that works best for you. I would follow your doctor's recommendation and call if you have any side effects.

    • @thatnursingprof2661

      Yes because it can cause fluid retention. That would be something the patient should report to their doctor.

      Nurses take a Pharmacology course and pharmacology is incorporated in every nursing course in school. We are the ones who give the meds so it is important that we understand the meds too.
