Funny, but no, this is not how it works. I think there would be lag, but not big amount of. (Because there are a lot of map loading screens, which are so close to one another that switch can run the game on at least a decent level)

It is easy to cramp millions of polygons and put faith in hardware to push it, but having limited hardware and pushing it to its limits - now that is an artform!

You know I'm surprised they didn't use the Cry of Fear version of the Goldsrc Engine, they did code some stuff in such as changing the renderer to display neat skyboxes and such. But I guess they were going for as og low res as possible.

but anway to be honest this mod has alot of potentail and probably the reason why the strider had no animation is probably the creator is making a model for the strider to make it look like its in half-life 2 but still in half-life 1 because hey if he was able to make a model of the 3 headcrabs and 3 zombies then he is able to create everything else

I think if they manage to get all the models/textures into spec (since some of them are clearly just ripped straight from hl2) this mod will be pretty damn amazing if/when it all gets done. I'm honestly curious to what extent they'll be able to capture the aesthetic of hl2 as well.

To explain the G-Man at the beginning: 1. It's in beta they're still probably trying to figure out how to get his facial animations as close as possible within GoldSRC 2. GoldSRC has limited capabilities when it comes to facial animations to say the least

Does this actually run on GoldSrc or is it running on Half-Life Source? You might find it interesting that there even is a Quake Map that recreates the beginning of HL2, it is a actualy a jokemap though. You find it in the Aprils Folls Mapjam 2020 package, for example on Quaddicted.

So the textures and some of the models are Source quality while the rest of the game is Gold Source quality.
Everything is made in goldsource, but the models and textures have been modified to look like they're from half life 2.
