    I had it happen where the screen protector actually lifted all along the crease, and started to crack down the middle also. I ended up taking off the original protector to save the screen and ordered the Whitestone off Amazon. The Whitestone for me failed outright. Didn't adhere well and the front one peeled off first time I put it in my pocket. Returned it and bought a 3-pack by Orzero which has been amazing. Feels great costs WAY less than the Whitestone, all the ools for home install included and becuase there's 3 of them, I'm protected for a while...

    I thought the plastic was essential - clearly not. Mine had bubbled right down the middle and started to split in a few spots. So removed it and all is good - I don't use a stylus so I am happy. Would I get another folding phone though? Hell no. Thanks for informing me that the phone works without it

      @@b79747 No issues - had the phone for 2 years before I dropped it, smashed up the front and decided it was time to change to a better, lighter and more powerful phone. I didn't apply a screen protector to the internal screen and it managed to stay scratch free. But I guess it depends on how careful people are with their gadgets.

    Update on my original post. I just used my fingernail under that top bubble where it was lifting. I ran my nail up against it all the way across to the right of the phone. Then I grabbed that right corner and slowly peeled at an acute angle as you did in the video. Wow it came off like butter, just do it slowly.

    Well this video has scared me into action. I've had my Fold 3 since Sept 2021 & the bubbling of the screen protector only began last month, so it's been good for nearly 18 months. Once it started though I could see it go further each day & now it has lifted from the entire crease with bubbles on either side. I was worried about dust or dirt getting under the screen, and it never occured to me that the extra air pressure could damage the screen itself. Guess what I am about to try...wish me luck removing the protector, because despite this problem, I love my phone. BTW I checked the Samsung website here in Australia, and they only offered a free replacement within 12 months of purchase so I'm out of luck there. I saw that the Fold 4 has replacements offered for 2 years. Not fair. Also for a phone that was very expensive (AUD$2600.00) I would expect a better life span.

    My phone screen protector just started lifting 2 days ago, and now a massive air bubble ran all the way through the center. In watching your video, I never closed the screen and removed the protector. My wife and I bought matching phones the same day, hers got the black line, and the screen failed to respond to touch. It just cost us 1200 for a new s23 ultra. You may have just saved my phone. I wish I had known about this sooner. BTW, the screen protector came off so easily, like there was nothing holding it in place.

    Your definitely right on the "tension" The tempature of the phone when it folds plays a role as it'll make the plastic stiffer if it's colder. But from my understanding reading different forum posts, if you ever have the issue of your screen protector becoming faulting lifting like that it's imperative to have it removed. The tiny opening allows air to enter between the fold screen and the protector screen. Closing the screen squishes the air condensing it. It could make it worse looking, or it could give in with enough air pressure, damaging your screen. I got mine recently without a screen protector for that reason. It might feel nicer with a protector, but it's the main culprit of so many broken fold screens.

      @HomikaGaming ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@lukyluciano7524 Dropping your phones is a cause, Scratching with hard surfaces is a cause, scraping long finger nails is a cause, but dust, is the cause. Samsung specifies it's not dust resistant and the protectors aren't properly designed for the phone. You can treat your phone like a new born baby, but natural causes is why it's bad. They peal they have a limited life span. And The amount of places that will replace the film are very low. ( Your incredibly lucky if you have a breakfixit luckier if they have protectors in stock.) The reason they don't want you to peal it off? pixel movement. It can damage the plastic screen because the regular user isn't smart enough to make there device warm first to help reduce tension.

    I just got off the phone with the U BREAK IT store near me and they quoted me a price of $120.00 to replace the screen protector. The tech told me that they charge that much because it takes them 4/5 tries to put it on before they can be sure to get all the bubbles out. So they charge $20.00 per protector to do the replacement. I don't understand why we can do it ourselves and yet it takes them in a tech setting 4/5 tries to get one screen protector on. Well ladies and gents I ordered the screen protector and will apply it on my own. $120.00 and 4/5 attempts? Come on!!

      @@unclewheelchair so it seems like that is false information. When I went to my local ubreakit, the rep advised there was only one store in the area that did that kind of repair and it would take that store a full 24hrs for them to complete the repair.
      When I went to that store, they laughed at the advice of the previous store (basically any store could do it, if they take the initiative for the training)
      They did confirm that the use of a special device/equipment would be used to apply and seal the new screen protector but the process would only take about an hour or so.
      Unfortunately they ran out of protectors and were expecting a new shipment by this weekend (they knew immediately before I could unfold my phone why I was there..they had seen a lot of these over the last month).

    Mine today had a line after I fold and unfold it
    Want to samsung to reflace it she did it good without buubles but they had screen protector hole in the middle for the hidden camera and now i see pink and green pixels around it and it very visible in white screen 😭 dont know if I should keep it or go and reflace it
    I always use the phone open and close it only to make videos what did you mean with the fold being open can cause more damage can you explain why ? Thanks 🙏

    • @ctuan13
      @ctuan13  ปีที่แล้ว

      Alright so it sounds like either you're only seeing the slight discoloration that is natural with the pixels over the underscreen camera or the screen protector actually caused damage to the panel. If it's actual damage I'm not sure what you want to do, but chances are good that it might get worse.
      As far as me saying "the fold being open can cause more damage", I don't believe I ever said that exactly, but there are two things you could be referring to: One thing I did say was that if the screen protector is already peeling at the top and bottom of the crease, leaving it open puts more strain on the screen protector meaning it's more likely to peel. If it's closed, the way the screen folds, is essentially pushing the screen protector back into place.
      The other thing you could be referring to is that if your screen protector is already peeling and both edges on each end of the crease have connected into one long air bubble all the way down the middle of the screen, it's important you either replace the screen protector immediately or simply remove it as folding and unfolding the phone with a lifted screen protector will lead to the screen being destroyed in the middle.

    • @gilsreviewforyou
      @gilsreviewforyou ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ctuan13 yes that what happened long air bubble all the way
      So when the phone closed-fold make less pressure then when the phone is open ?
      The pixel is because there is hole in the screen protector between the pixel camera and this is the only screen protector that samsung in my country aplly
      Hope wont damage the phone
      Thanks

    • @ctuan13
      @ctuan13  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gilsreviewforyou Oh I see, if you've got a bubble all thr way down, you need to remove the screen protector immediately. And if not definitely try to avoid folding it. With that large of a gap and bubble, folding and unfolding it could cause the screen to be permanently damaged.
      I'm not sure what country you're in, but if you're able to, you can order the whitestone replacement screen protector kit I've got linked in the description.
      Good luck!

      You definitely can still trade it in, but you'll get a diminished trade in value. Those sorts of issues is why at the end of the video, you'll see I ended up replacing the screen protector with a Whitestone premium Gen film PET screen protector and it served me quite well until I ultimately replaced my Fold 3 with thr Fold 4.
      I definitely think although in the short term it seems okay, long term the screen protector still seems to be a critical part of the structure and support of the display's integrity.
