What kind of gaskets did you use exactly, I have two choices one factory AC DELCO in pump box new and I have FELPRO gaskets as well. TWO emails and FELPRO swears to install their gaskets dry only. What exactly did you cover your gaskets with. THANKS FOR ANY HELP I am confused I see ChrisFix smoothered his in fine a thin coat of RTV. What shoulod I do! My AC delco box instructions say fiber gaskets most be used with a sealant.
Im about to put my 95 back together and I had a quick question. My Haynes manual says I need 2 o rings on spindle shaft when mounting water pump but I noticed you skipped this step. Is it OK to proceed with no oring? I'm sure you've done enough of these to roll your eyes at.
I'm in the middle of a water pump job on my 96 and I also referenced a Haynes repair manual. Like you said, it indicates there are 2 Orings, one on the spline driven gear end and one on the back of the pump spline. Mine were missing completely, maybe they can deteriorate over time. Great work on the video! Thanks
You decided not to put an O-Ring on the coupler that goes between the Water Pump and the Cam Gear? I was hoping that you were going to show which side of the couple goes to which side of the Cam/Water pump. You did notice the O-Ring groove on the coupler?
i cant get out the one bolt near the belt… its a pain in the ass without power tools, its my first project car and the water pump went bad the day i bought it. a 95 corvette.
Buy new water pump: amzn.to/3hRJwtc
I’ve watched several videos of this.
I like yours the best.
About to tackle my ‘96 LT4 water pump

Thanks for watching! Don't forget to subscribe!
Exactly what my ball bearing looked like!
Does the tensioner have to come off to access the bottom driver side bolts on water pump?
I think it was in the way, we may have removed it to gain access to those bolts.

I believe we bought them on Ebay. I am not sure which vendor was selling them. They came in a kit.
Nice!
Thanks for checking us out.

It you follow the video you should be okay. When you take the old one out see if there is more than one oring.

I found one oring on the new water pump shaft.
The service manual says, the ringed mark on the tiny double female shaft goes against the engine block.
The way to install belt is place it around AC compressor wheel last.
Thanks for the added tip! Hope you enjoyed our auto repair video that shows you how to replace the water pump on a C4 Corvette
Where did you buy the coolant hose set?
I think I found them on Ebay
Is it necessary to remove the serpentine belt for water pump removal?
I think we had to.
@@HomeOwnerRepair definitely have to, as you do it creates space to get to one of the bolts. Found out today!
Thanks for the reply anyway!!
Is it not necessary to use thread seal on the long bolts so that antifreeze doesnt leak through the water jackets and through the threads?
We didn't have any leaks using the method that is shown in the video.
The bottom bolt on the left side of the engine dose go into the water jacket and can leak without sealant.
All four long bolts tops and bottoms ones of my 95 had white sealant close to an inch long on the bolts tip area from factory I think. YES USE SEALANT
Is the intake coming off necessary?
No, we were also doing an intake gasket at the same time.

If there was an o-ring in there we put it back on.
Ring marked side goes against the engine, per my service manual

They are not easy to work on. Hope this video helps out.
Sealer on the bolts?
We didn't need it.
