I'm sorry the camping trip didn't relax you as you hoped, anxiety sucks. But thank you SO much for vlogging it. It's nostalgia overload for me, even the sandflies and flooded roads and struggling with tents in high winds. This video brought back so many memories of past van trips. Please vlog more New Zealand stuff for those of us who can't get there right now.

Have a friend in NZ and I just chuckle now when he tells me what he's been doing. He feels bad that we can't go out as much and do things in our country. Mainly cause he wants us to come visit him.

SAME!! I used to live in Florida and mosquitoes are VERY BAD in that state of America.
Florida? My friend and I went with our boyfriends at the time. We're from philly. My best friend and I spent the 3 hour flight home scratching..so uncomfortable. And the boys..they had a bite or 2. I don't understand why some people get bit more than others but I'm one of the unlucky ones.
Random tip. If you're gonna go out camping and mosquitos love you don't eat bananas before you get there. They're attracted to people who have just eaten them
If you can get Avon Skin So Soft original formula, it's the best mosquito and bug deterrent!

Adding camping in New Zealand to my bucket list. It looks so pristine. I can only imagine the clarity of the stars. It's been a while since I've laid back on a dark night, gazing into the depths of the heavens, and felt the magnitude of the emptiness of space through which we sail on our little planet. We've lost the sky to city lights. It's tragic. What a lovely little trip.

Some places don't allow tents (mainly) because people will just buy a cheap one, use it once and instead of taking it will just leave it there. So it's a litter prevention thing, it's nothing personal!
Edit: Or because the wind blows the litter away ...

Cool, that's awesome. When you were filming the mountains at the beginning I was thinking to myself "I can see the Fellowship hiking through those mountains" and then you ended up in Isanguard, how cool. Out of all the places in the world, I would love to go to New Zealand and explore all the places where Lord of the Rings was or potentially could have been film. Often when I travel through Surrey (UK) and I can see it as some of the backdrops for it (though Tolkien did set the story in Surrey just change the place names) I have driven through two place names from the story, Bucklands and one other (time for me to reread as forgetting place names 😹) I love how Briton and New Zealand are very similar in the landscape and weather. Wonder if at some point that we were connected when we were one mass of land?
I'm sorry you didn't get to relax much though I really enjoyed the video (apart from the damn miges, they like my blood too)

When I lived in Pennsylvania for a year, my ex and I went out to Amish cou try bc he knew several families and let me tell you it was the best time. No technology just nature which was so nice and peaceful. I would do it all over again in a heart beat

As someone who sometimes lives in a tent, I feel you. When you have no other option, you'll just embrace the suck, but when you only have a few nights and wanted to relax it's just not fun, to have one bad night after another

I love camping but yes I have to go with my partner because he is the manly man camping type so while I struggle with tents he puts them up and takes them down with ease while I always struggle. There’s always an insane amount of packing food and supplies to make sure the trip goes smoothly. I don’t think I could ever go by myself it would be too stressful 😅

Yeah, I'm in TX too, but I don't mind the cold at all. Played in the snow for 6 hours straight almost. It's pretty much over now. Sorry to all who lost power for hours on end. We lost it on and off for a little bit.

Your hair looks so fkng gooooood! I brought a potted citronella plant with me the one time I went camping. I kept it inside the tent with me and would set it next to me on the ground whenever I sat outside. I got absolutely laughed at by the fam but It definitely helped keep those suckers at bay.
Oh yeah , you guys are covid free now so you can go to a bar ! That must be so cool. Human interaction !! Thats what we are waiting for in the UK . Its lockdown- a - rama here . I think some people dont want it to end.

I love camping as well although I've never been alone. I always wanted to go camping beach side in Maui Hawaii. I had an ex who had a boat, we would head to the middle of the lake set anchor and fall asleep under the stars! I do know there is quite a bit of activity up there with satellites, like a little highway in the sky.
My mum is a natural redhead too and would literally get sun blisters w/in an hour if not protected. My dad is more dark skin and I took after, but still have many freckles. Unfortunately I've battled skin cancer for the past 15 or so years.

I am not a lover of tents but I love going in a van.
I've spent the past few years backpacking across country with friends... We camp about 10 months of the year on average all through the U.S. and Canada, but couch surf in the winter when we can. We noticed pretty quickly when we started traveling to either wear long sleeves and pants or even having a little roll in the dirt sometimes helps to deter mosquitoes as well. Stay safe and keep having fun :)
I feel guilty for laughing throughout nearly the whole video but I think that's because I can relate to the annoying side of camping 😂

Mine is like a brown that sun bleaches reddish. I wouldn’t dye my hair if it wasn’t for the “wisdom” poking through with my skunk streak trying to happen.
I go 'camping' once a year in late summer. The reason I say 'camping' because we stay in a family friends cabin that does have electricity and running water, but no air conditioning so if it is super hot it is open all the windows and run fans ad go into the lake since it is on an island where a strong wind storm can knock out power easily and we are at least an hour away from the nearest town. Good thing about it is when we go the bugs aren't usually too bad.

I'm really sorry that you didn't get to relax as much as you wanted to, but having had a stressy-stupid-rubbish day, the unfortunate calamity of it all made me chuckle and your frustrated utterances were very cathartic! I do love your travel vlogs. And camping: something I want to love, but all my experiences of it so far have been so utterly uncomfortable! I think you must have to have a pretty expensive tent and sleeping setup to really enjoy it. Otherwise, the nights are freezing and some mornings are like boil-in-a-bag. Glad to see your videos back in my subs again! :)

Omigawsh I’m sorry your camping adventure was frustrating!!! Mosquitoes love me, so I would have been thoroughly eaten up. You camped at Isengard!!! Pretty incredible. Camping isn’t for me I know. I like beds in buildings too much, and I had a terrible camping experience as a kid.
NZ is so beautiful... I first was acutely aware of it when I was in 7th grade, when I did a research paper about the Māori people. Many years later, I was a huge fan of Xena, in which the cinematography of NZ was so excellent. One day I hope to visit. I so appreciate you sharing it with us💙💙💙

Reminds me of here in BC canada we have lots of vast forests and ever changing weather conditions haha.I somehow also end up bringing chokers and pvc pants haha and try to dress up as much as I can despite camping its fun to look like a demon in the middle of the wilderness.Awesome vlog btw you seem like you have an awesome personality and love your style.
