For 12 years I worked at a theatrical costume shop in New York City. It was there where I first started making costumes for the Broadway musical The Lion King. I was in charge of the Hyena costumes. I think my team and I made nearly 600 of those over the years since the show first came on Broadway. It got to the point that even when I wasn't making the costumes I couldn't get away from the image of hyenas in my life. We would go out to the movies and if a hyena came on the screen all of my friends and relatives would spin around and look at me. LOL! To this day they still haunt me. LMAO!!! ^_^ The shop I worked at has since closed for good and now I miss making the hyenas so much.
Susannah Mills, as well as the hyena, foxes are also in the cat family and not the dog family. They're classified as feline :-) I only found that out a couple of years ago

I love how Matthias gets all excited over the animals ♥ you two are so cute. My favourite animals are elephants. I love a lot of different animals but I figured I couldn't narrow it down to a top five, so here's my top one. :)
I adore elephants. I have ever since I was a tiny child, and when I was little my mother took me to the circus because it was the only place she knew I could meet and touch and elephant, but I was terrified of clowns, and to make a long story short, I got lost and scared by a clown who really shouldn't have been working around children, and the elephant handler found me and remembered how much I loved the elephant so he let me wait with him in the elephant tent while my mother was found by security, and sitting next to that elephant and it laying it's trunk in my lap is probably my happiest memory, even though my scariest memory caused it. Now I'm grown and I know elephants belong in the wild or rescues or safe places where they have space and food and so on, but at 4 years old, meeting that elephant and spending time near her, was every dream come true.
I got to ride one (with the handler, of course). That was a high point in my life as a youngster. I was 7 or 8 years old. I also love elephants. (Jan Griffiths).

I hate to see any negativity here but many people forget that a lot of the function of a zoo isn't just to keep animals in a prison but it's also to educate the public on conservation and to help with captive breeding programs without which many species would be extinct today! ♡♡♡
Lots of zoos these days are good for conservation purposes. The tigger was probably in the small space to eat, and for the staff to see how much each one is eating. BTW my favorit exotic animal is a snow leopard.

I stopped being goth due to bullying and when I watch you I get emotional but your so gorgeous and so sweet, I've been suicidal multiple times because the bulling can get over the top if that's a good way to do it, I try everyday to try not put goth clothes on or wear black and it's honestly scary because I do get physically bullied, your my inspiration, my hero, you mean so much to me, your so lucky to stay in Such a lovely place
Well, my situation ain't better kinda. People are afraid of things what they don't know. I also know few people who have bad experiences from being different. So I now ended up looking casual and fitting the society. Maybe I'm not happy inside, but it makes me safer. Then I back to my dark world, I do arts, crafts, writting etc.That helps alot. I know I couldn't be what I want until I become financially independent and could move somewhere where I could be free from other people. That makes me alive inside and strong. Also things outside ain't everything. Sacrifiying looks for safety is better I can tell from my own experience. Stay strong. Stay dark inside :3
I understand what you are saying but just because you don't dress like a "typical" goth doesn't mean you aren't one. Maybe instead of going all out with your outfit just try incorporating smaller things into your wardrobe so you can still wear what you want and avoid the bullying? Stay strong, be safe, and always be true to yourself 🙂
Expressing ourselves appearance wise helps so much when dealing with depression, suicidal thoughts, all that stuff. I am currently training myself to have enough self esteem to wear black lipstick outside, and I am really in this depression-suicide thing too. But I thought, fuck it I don't care, this makes me feel good. What i am saying with this is that if goth clothes (or just black in general) make you feel good and make you feel like YOURSELF, not like you are in somebody elses body, then please don't abandon them. People will bully anyone, the reason can be anything, I experienced that too. But hey, it's still better if you dress how you want and they bully you than you dress in a way which is uncomfortable and you don't like it and on top of that they bully you. I love that your husband was especially excited over the lynx. They're gorgeous creatures and I didn't know that the hyenas were part of the cat family. I always thought they were dogs. Weird. I don't really care for zoos, since I believe wild animals should be out free but I also can understand that some zoos actually protect them for poachers or other dangers; which is perfectly acceptable. I'm now in the mood to go to a zoo.

I would find you 2 to be extremely fascinating to the point I would forgo my own Zoo experience just so I would walk around with you 2 and experience the Zoo along with you guys. Hope they make the Gehege new soon, like the other parts of the zoo they had already. The bear mix was cause of the old Gehege... but their are allready bear mixes in "real" nature, for example in northern Canada. The new Gehege will be more save, especially after the escape, and better for the bears to life in.

My favorite animal is the flamingo. It's a ridiculous pink bird that moves in groups, is on almost all of the continents, and isn't endangered. Not even threatened. They're just so weird and I love them for that.

I love cephalopods of all kinds, but in particular giant squid. They are so mysterious and fascinating! Squid and octopus as a whole are also so intelligent and clever. Incredibly fascinating animals.

Pretty sure that's not it's permanent space, however, animals belong in the wild, in wide open spaces. Humans could never replicate the freedom of a rain forest or ocean, etc etc etc. Not to mention that the purpose of a zoo is profit. Sanctuaries are always the better choice.
galisatsuki tigers pace irregardless of space. While sanctuaries are great, zoos educate and create breeding programs to help prevent from going extinct. I don't know about other zoos but the 3 main ones here in Victoria (AU) actively are always looking to improve for the animals' benefit and collect donations to help the animals back in their native locations plus they also encourage people to look after their environment. Zoos are important, if people don't see the animals: out of sight, out of mind.
Evelyn Rojas I have to disagree with you on your comment about pacing. It's pretty clear the tiger in the video was pacing due to stress. Even Mathias and Freyja pointed it out. In regards to the 3 zoos in your area, sanctuaries do the same as what you're praising those zoos for, and more, on a larger, more healthier and successful scale. The main goal of a sanctuary is for the well being of it's inhabitants whereas profit is the main goal of most zoos. This is why sanctuaries are the better choice.

Zoos claim to help with conservation. However, hardly any zoo registers their animals on an international species database and most zoo animals are not endangered at all. Even though there are thousands of endangered species, zoos have only been able to return about 16 species to the wild with varying level of success. Most zoo animals released in the wild don't survive. This is because zoos don't provide the right environment for a successful captive breeding project. The animals would need to live in habitats resembling their natural ones, especially in terms of climate and fauna. The animals would also need to be raised with minimal human contact and in populations large enough to provide a natural social balance and a suitable gene pool.
Amanda Scheese The zoo where I'm from is the first to release some condors back into the wild, so I do support zoos that give back and aren't just for entertainment purposes
I mean you can protect a species and let them roam and still view them. Lots of sanctuaries do 'safari' things where you're in a caged truck and you just drive around. You can give the animals life and protect them at the same time. The benefit of those places is they make it possible for species to be reintroduced into the wild. That doesn't happen with these zoos. Would you wanna live in a cage all your life? Would you want to stay in your house for the rest of your life? These creatures who span miles a day in the wild need room. Did you stop to think of that?
Love this so much. I haven't been to the zoo in years. My dad and I used to watch animal shows all the time. So many interesting things about animals that we didn't even know. Bears have poison on their claws, hippos can be just as dangerous if not more so than rhinos and chimps are extremely aggressive and dangerous. My dad said when the original Tarzan movies were made, they had to keep Cheetah and Maureen O'Sullivan separated. Cheetah didn't liker her and that's putting it mildly.

I went to the zoo for my birthday last year because I love animals. Favorites Animals: Mammal: Cats, specifically the Cheetah but also Polar Bears Bird: Ostrich and Raven/Crows are in second Aquatic: Cephalopds(in general because I I love them all!) Amphibian: Tie between Poison Dart Frog and Axolotl Reptile: Snakes, mainly pythons and boas Nope, never thought about my favorite animal before, haha!

Tapir. There is nothing better than a tapir. I used to have a tapir friend when I was a little kid, in Grodno zoo in Belarus which is even more off the map than New Zealand. You could pet him and feed him and his buddy (I know it's not a good thing but it was pretty rough and hungry being a zoo animal in Post Soviet space and zookeepers didn't mind). Animals are better viewd in the wild, what is your stand on the topic of keeping animals in cages and enclousers for human amusement? Sadly allot of animals in zoo's suffer from mental ilnesses like anxiety, PTSD, OCD and depression. Onløy so a corporation can profitt from humans thinking animals are cute.

My favourite animal, that I always look forward to seeing in the zoo, would be the tapir. They're like little elephant pigs and they're just soooo cute! I mean... the way they wiggle that little snout around all goofy and adorable. Just love them! I also like seeing anything that's small, like meerkats, a walrus or a squid.
I really love Sand cats. They have furry paws to protect them from the hot desert sand and they hardly need to drink water at all because their bodies are really good at storing water from food. Also, they're really cute!

Hyenas are so special that they have their own family called the Hyaenidae family. But they do share many charecteristics of cats and dogs.

It's in Osnabrück. You have to search the sloth. He can climb freely around in the house :)

I love that your husband was especially excited over the lynx. They're gorgeous creatures and I didn't know that the hyenas were part of the cat family. I always thought they were dogs. Weird. I don't really care for zoos, since I believe wild animals should be out free but I also can understand that some zoos actually protect them for poachers or other dangers; which is perfectly acceptable. I'm now in the mood to go to a zoo.

Hope they make the Gehege new soon, like the other parts of the zoo they had already. The bear mix was cause of the old Gehege... but their are allready bear mixes in "real" nature, for example in northern Canada. The new Gehege will be more save, especially after the escape, and better for the bears to life in.

The amount of people being butthurt because they spent and enjoyed a simple day at the zoo is too damn high.
My favorite animal is the flamingo. It's a ridiculous pink bird that moves in groups, is on almost all of the continents, and isn't endangered. Not even threatened. They're just so weird and I love them for that.

I love cephalopods of all kinds, but in particular giant squid. They are so mysterious and fascinating! Squid and octopus as a whole are also so intelligent and clever. Incredibly fascinating animals.
The "necro-fish" was a sea urchin! The SUPER necro part is that they have poison in all those stings! :)

Pretty sure that's not it's permanent space, however, animals belong in the wild, in wide open spaces. Humans could never replicate the freedom of a rain forest or ocean, etc etc etc. Not to mention that the purpose of a zoo is profit. Sanctuaries are always the better choice.

galisatsuki tigers pace irregardless of space. While sanctuaries are great, zoos educate and create breeding programs to help prevent from going extinct. I don't know about other zoos but the 3 main ones here in Victoria (AU) actively are always looking to improve for the animals' benefit and collect donations to help the animals back in their native locations plus they also encourage people to look after their environment. Zoos are important, if people don't see the animals: out of sight, out of mind.

Evelyn Rojas I have to disagree with you on your comment about pacing. It's pretty clear the tiger in the video was pacing due to stress. Even Mathias and Freyja pointed it out. In regards to the 3 zoos in your area, sanctuaries do the same as what you're praising those zoos for, and more, on a larger, more healthier and successful scale. The main goal of a sanctuary is for the well being of it's inhabitants whereas profit is the main goal of most zoos. This is why sanctuaries are the better choice.

Zoos claim to help with conservation. However, hardly any zoo registers
their animals on an international species database and most zoo animals
are not endangered at all. Even though there are thousands of endangered
species, zoos have only been able to return about 16 species to the wild
with varying level of success. Most zoo animals released in the wild
don't survive. This is because zoos don't provide the right environment
for a successful captive breeding project. The animals would need to
live in habitats resembling their natural ones, especially in terms of
climate and fauna. The animals would also need to be raised with minimal
human contact and in populations large enough to provide a natural
social balance and a suitable gene pool.

I mean you can protect a species and let them roam and still view them. Lots of sanctuaries do 'safari' things where you're in a caged truck and you just drive around. You can give the animals life and protect them at the same time. The benefit of those places is they make it possible for species to be reintroduced into the wild. That doesn't happen with these zoos.
Would you wanna live in a cage all your life? Would you want to stay in your house for the rest of your life? These creatures who span miles a day in the wild need room.
Did you stop to think of that?

Love this so much. I haven't been to the zoo in years. My dad and I used to watch animal shows all the time. So many interesting things about animals that we didn't even know. Bears have poison on their claws, hippos can be just as dangerous if not more so than rhinos and chimps are extremely aggressive and dangerous. My dad said when the original Tarzan movies were made, they had to keep Cheetah and Maureen O'Sullivan separated. Cheetah didn't liker her and that's putting it mildly.

Mammal: Cats, specifically the Cheetah but also Polar Bears
Bird: Ostrich and Raven/Crows are in second
Aquatic: Cephalopds(in general because I I love them all!)
Amphibian: Tie between Poison Dart Frog and Axolotl
Reptile: Snakes, mainly pythons and boas

Tapir. There is nothing better than a tapir. I used to have a tapir friend when I was a little kid, in Grodno zoo in Belarus which is even more off the map than New Zealand. You could pet him and feed him and his buddy (I know it's not a good thing but it was pretty rough and hungry being a zoo animal in Post Soviet space and zookeepers didn't mind). Animals are better viewd in the wild, what is your stand on the topic of keeping animals in cages and enclousers for human amusement? Sadly allot of animals in zoo's suffer from mental ilnesses like anxiety, PTSD, OCD and depression. Onløy so a corporation can profitt from humans thinking animals are cute.

My favourite animal, that I always look forward to seeing in the zoo, would be the tapir. They're like little elephant pigs and they're just soooo cute! I mean... the way they wiggle that little snout around all goofy and adorable. Just love them! I also like seeing anything that's small, like meerkats, a walrus or a squid.

I really love Sand cats. They have furry paws to protect them from the hot desert sand and they hardly need to drink water at all because their bodies are really good at storing water from food. Also, they're really cute!
