It needs gearing for sure. I remember even in first gear I had to clutch it up. And the bike will go around 130 mph. So you could definitely get away with a 5+ rear sprocket. Then I think it would be better, like you’d expect.

I was one step away from buying a 500exc but i ve changed my mind in the last second, and i bought a 701 enduro, because i got it brand new with 2000€ less then the ktm, and with the remaining money got chain and sprockets and exhaust, arbox and pc... and i ve made it feel almost like a ktm. The only down side it s the weight. It is 30 km more. BUT, and this is the main reason that i made this choice, i don t have to change the oil every 10 hours of riding, an the piston at 50 hours. This is for somebody who probably has a mechanics team living with him.
Just bought a 701 SM. (2018) with open air box , better can and evo map. Compared to my old XR650R SM it’s flat in the low revs. Will change the front sprocket to a 15T and if that doesn’t wake it up I will go +2 on the rear. Good fun accelerating over 40mph but slow getting to it at the moment.

I own a 701-SM, It is absolutely the most incredible dirt bike for the street, perfect power to weight ratio. Well made,and so much fun to ride!!!

You should know that those enduro rims are lighter than supermoto. That is one of the reasons why it's easier to wheelie with them
701 is outstanding supermoto! you can do everything on it (tracks days, commuting, wheelies).
if you want the full power of the bike, ecu flash, -1 sprocket, full exhaust and air filter is the solution. best sm so far.
exc's on the other hand are enduro bikes. of course more brutal, but you can't commute with them. riding position is gonna be really uncomortable after a lot of km on it. services cost a lot and there sooner than the 701.
overall. if you want a powerfull track/sunday sm and you can afford the often services you buy and exc, if you can't you buy a 701.
i have never riden an exc but yes, if i could afford one i would prefer it than 701.
I absolutely love my 701 enduro can't wait to be able to ride again. Had a 701 crash and currently recovery from my broken wrist
Ktm is never a mistake
701 SM and FE501 SM sitting in my garage, even had an FS450 for racing and trackdays until a couple weeks ago when I sold it. rear sprocket on the 701 SM needs to changed (42 to 46), then it's a completely different bike and loads of fun to ride. I keep my FE501 around for the absolute no f*cks given hooligan rides, but you can't ignore the fact that bike will attract loads of unwanted attention while you can cruise around on a 701 and nobody will give you angry looks.

I can’t say why exactly but my favorite Husqvarna was a te449 which belonged to the dealer. He used to race Supermoto and enduro with it and was pretty good, so he had everything setup perfectly for his weight, which happened to be similar to mine.
So I hopped on and fell in love with the bike. Was more fun than my SM510R, which I loved as well.
The old Husqvarnas had such a smooth power delivery it was like butter. My fav Supermoto brand for sure.
absolutely brother , i worket in a HVA Dealership before BMW took over. Personally i find the SM510R feom 2005 the very best modell - 58PS lightweight , good marzocchi / sachs setup and a very raw sm look. lost my license for 4 years and this summer im gonna get it back... very unsure what to buy eithet an old hva used or a 701 and mofify with open box , silencer / commander and shorter gearing ....

I want a KTM 500 :) Used to have a Yamaha WR450f, real fun bike that did power wheelies in 3rd gear if if was in the right mood and I loved the bottom end torque. But for offroad it was a bit to hard to controll the power after my taste (don`t like to use the clutch :)
I did buy a new 500 EXC F after test drive of a 2 stroke KTM 300 that I found lacking in power, the 500 is a beast but also gentle if you want to :)
Husqvarna 701 is best
Have you drived in the thirt gear at the electricbike. There are slow normal and fast. The display is over where the Tank is
8:33 i think the bike was set to default settings. in (supermoto mode) you can power wheelie in 3rd :D
The 701 is completely flat in the bottom- and low-end with stock exhaust. With a different exhaust+airbox+remap it's transformed and so much better.
Fuel injection is garbage
-1 on the front sprocket and the 701 SM will waken up just like the enduro.

With a -1 front sprocket and +3 rear it really wakes up the 701 supermoto. 4th gear wheelies are easy with that gearing even with everything else being stock.

Jag var sjukt nära på att lägga in som bloopers/bonus meme på den gången jag testkörde en 390 duke och trollade han som va ansvarig om det fanns anti wheelie på den. va inte tillräckligt cringe.. ;) haha
Vad jag vet om DRZ är att den måste man uppgradera ganska mkt för att den ska gå bra. Den är en av de få jag inte provkört. :P

You have to convert them by yourself
It is annoying you cannot do wheelies without using a clutch, especially on that powerfull and light bike. It isn't health for an engine. Besides, nice vid.

Har du testat FE 501 med gatdäck? Kan inte bestämma mig vad som är roligast, om man skiter i kostnaden för skatt, försäkring, service osv, vilken har man roligast på gatan? En gatreggad FE 501 eller en 40kg tyngre 701?

the 701 or the 690 are to have long life engine, but too heavy and not as sharp as a 450
If you want to do miles then get one of these but... if you want to be a hooligan or a racer 450fs will leave these elephants behind.

bro if you didn´t know they have the same owner so they are almost the same bike (TE/EXC FE/EXC-F TC/SX FC/SX-F TX/XC-W 690/701, but they have some differences between the diffrent bike models so you can basically say they have the same mom and dad but they models are just sibblings

the 500 sxc-f has a power to weight ration of .27 whereas teh 701 has a power to weight ratio of .21....

I have a ktm 450 sxf going to make it into a supermotard now, but i wouls say maybe the aprilia 550 sxv is better then the 701?

Min pappa köpte en 2017 701 och han älskar den och ska uppgradera till den nyaste 701 och han tycker att det blir en skönare körning med tanken där bak
Och han köpte 701 motard för då spara han 20,000 kr på däck och fälg det året för det är billigare att köpa enduro fälgar i efter hand

You are not popping the clutch good when you pop it the wheel is 10cm in the air but it should be when you pop it almost in balance point pop better try do some wheelies on a 125cc bike than you will leurn real wheelies
exe is better but the 701 is more worth it if that makes sense!

It's got the hooves on road that's a fact...seemed too tall like my 650xl..test drive it.. wow..twice the power half the weight...off road felt like your on a 4x8 sheet of plywood..narrow,tall,long ..I bought a 2018 501fe..I'd beat the brakes off that beast off road..don't get me wrong..on road.. 701..so much more stable and enjoyable that baby brother...701 needs that lead cuz this hairball dirt ahead..?..the nimbleness, grip in the berm,200lb freak doing mass airage?...501. All. Day. Long

The problem is that if you flip a 701 during a wheelie it will probably burn. One of my friends got one a few months ago, the bike burnt today after a wheelie crash just because of the backward tank. 500 is better😜 701 is too but 0 chances to fail
Motorcycle Songs Well, if you don't do wheelies it is not a problem. Simple as that. Same goes for the 690.
Luca of course it's an awesome bike for normal riding or track riding. And less cost of maintenance
Motorcycle Songs IMO this is the best compromise between a true 450 SM and a commuter/fun bike. I would buy a bike like this 100% cause i do 75km a day and a 450 sm couldn't keep up with that for too long in terms of fuel and maintenance.

supermoto is geared stupid tall from the factory, nobody needs a Sumo that goes 130+ I out 15/46 sprockets on it which is what the Enduro uses and with a euro map and pipe its a widow maker and will still hit 105
