@30:07 as a veteran Javik is correct in the situation of war. empathy is a weakness although it is a strength in other situations just not war. in war empathy and emotions will get you killed when you are face to face with an enemy.
I was military police, and we were known for our dry, sardonic humor. We were not bad people and we cared, but in order to maintain our sanity we developed dark humor. will not distress you with details kiddo, believe me it took me 15 years to get rid of demons and nightmares, but i would do it all over again for you and many like you :)
Another amazing video of some very tough emotional situations. Love how you and Taylor play off the scenes making us laugh when we really feel like crying. Your reaction to Kai Leng was priceless and you really went after him hard! Dang plot armor! (waves fist at sky)
First of all, I FINALLY caught up to the live releases. I live reacted to your Priority: Tuchunka video and realised that I watched a little bit of your ME1 playthrough but never finished it. So I've been binging your ME1 and ME2 videos to finally catch back up with your playthrough. Glad I was able to catch up before you finished the game.
Regarding Asari, Banshees, and Ardat-Yakshi... Being Ardat-Yakshi isn't an all-or-nothing thing, and they're not actually as rare as Samara suggests (she's only really focussed on the three that she gave birth to). Rather, as noted in the in-game codex, around 1% of Asari are on the Ardat-Yakshi spectrum, so there are degrees of the disorder, and most don't kill - Morinth, who we meet in ME2, is an extreme case. Banshees are exclusively made from Asari who have some degree of the Ardat-Yakshi condition. Even if that means that only one in a hundred Asari are converted, there were 5.5 billion Asari on Thessia alone, which means potentially 55 million Banshees.
It seems that AY's that have proven they can control themselves are sometimes given leave to go out into the general population. She did mention in one of the earlier encounters that she wanted a relationship but this other Asari "had a condition".
You are stronger than me, I broke my friendship with Joker in this line and was disowned, Because the fact is that Shepard died because of his stubbornness, Besides, there is a joke and definitely a joke with a morbid tone, it should not be used in this situation.
16:25 This is a bit of a plot hole between ME2 & 3 because ME2 implies that Samara's daughters are the only 3 Ardat-Yakshi and then ME3 has a monestary full of A-Ys and a bunch of Banshees who are supposed to only be made from A-Ys. Samara says that she only knows of 3 in ME2 so it's possible that she wouldn't know how many others were at the monestary in 2, especislly since she had been chasing Morinth for 400 years and couldn't really keep in touch with her other daughters so most of the others could have arrived at the monestary later. The Codex entry on A-Y also make it a little less bad by saying that Ardat-Yakshi are less rare than commonly believed and exist on a spectrum with about 1% of Asari possessing at least latent A-Y genetic traits which was apparently enough for the reapers to convert them into Banshees. While all A-Y can't mate with others like other Asari and are presumably all sterile as well, it's only in the most extreme cases that they either leave their victims as invalids or kill them. Samara's line about Ardat-Yakshi not being permitted to live outside the monestary may only actually be referring to Ardat-Yakshi who are a danger to others due to having extremely active A-Y traits. And while I haven't played ME: Andromeda, info I've looked at online says that it at one point implies there's also a viral component to an Asari becoming an A-Y. Alternatively Neaira may have simply been able to hide her A-Y nature from most other Asari and only confided about it to Aeian. Its even possible that she only discovered it through beginning a relationship with Aeian, but the result was mild enough that Aeian wasn't permanently harmed.
And about the story in the hospital.**MAYBE A SPOILER BUT MAYBE NOT CUZ I'M ONLY COVERING THE PARTS OF THE STORY YOU'VE HEARD** To explain: Cerberus turns those Asari into Banshees (those scary looking things built like the girl from "The Barbarian" that teleport all over the map). And the Banshees are all Ardat-Yaksi. So, yes, the other asari she was in love with that "had a condition" was an Ardat-Yakshi, and the doctor knew about it because all that information was "in the file" so she was able to skip over it. **TRUE MAYBE SPOILER THAT'S PURPOSFULLY VAGUE BUT NOT LEADING AT ALL** You can learn who the human girl its from that story if you talk to enough people. You may not even realise it because I didn't connect the dots when I first encountered the dialogue. ***SPOILER UPDATE AFTER FINISHING THE VIDEO*** I see you made the connection… yeah…
lol I remember @ 07:02 I tried to jump onto the moving platforms over there with the girls, then I landed a few floors down in a kind of glitch, then I saw the whole bar from below, I'm sure that wasn't what the programming intended 🤣 .. but hee, the epic club sound continued 😂
Yes, Tiptree is the colony where the asari PTSD patient was. She told you about a girl she met there... Too bad your distrust of Cerberus and TIM did not prevent you from giving them the Collector base back in the day ;) So, since Dr. Bryson's lab is still there, I'd suggest getting that out of the way soon-ish. Some fantastic lore in that DLC!
Ahhhh. You met Kai LAME again. His plot armor is sofa king thick... infuriating 😆. Bringing Javik to Thessia is so damn good though. Poor Liara not wanting to accept the truth. I wanna hug her 😢. Javik taking some notes from you in the words department though. What a guy. I'm excited for the Dr. Bryson stuff. Easily my second favorite DLC. Good job putting two and two together on connections though. Banger episode. Thessia is such a bombshell of a mission. From under the Normandy LED once again 🫡🚀🌌
I know it was hard for you to leave K-boy in your cabin for this one, but thank you Basique for bringing Javik along with you and Liara. It was written to pretty much be his mission. And Kai Leng should be killed for that hair style alone 🤣
If you disagree with your teammates, you really get to know them better and get really interesting dialogue. If you always agree with them, they don’t usually go any deeper into their thought process or how they feel about stuff. Like with Joker and the other times you’ve disagreed with them, it’s cool. People don’t normally go against their crew and team when playing, so it’s nice to see.
This mission was stressful, especially at the end the fact that we lost and that the reapers were just relentless in there assualt on thessia they did not hold back in attacking the asari.
Personally I do the Leviathan DLC in stages not all at once, so I usually start it before the Quarian missions and end it some time after Thessia. Instead of Basique getting flamed, it's Liara and the whole asari religious orthodoxy getting flamed. Flashbacks to ME1, Basic looks so fresh faced and naive, now the weight of the galaxy is marking you as someone who's seen things that can't be unseen.
Cerberus is pure plot armour in this game. None of what they do makes sense. They are able to fight a galactic war against everyone at the same time, be everywhere at once, have all the secret info and get to critical locations before us for some reason
Who says they are everywhere all at once? As I see it they are using tactical strikes for some bigger plan. It's not like they are fielding huge armies to invade planets.
The funny thing is, planetside, if you don't bring Javik, Liara is more comfortable with the possibility that the Protheans interfered with the development of her people. I love how this is, that she becomes more defensive when it's undeniable (as without taking Javik the story is the same as if you have not rescued Javik). It's sadly pretty realistic.
That part with the Prothean VI and Kia Leng also never really worked for me. Awesome that you remembered that part with the Asari in the hospital and made the connection...just makes it more emotional. Just for interest sake, if you ever play it again for yourself...if you go talk to someone at the bar on Illium in ME2 and then talk to someone at the bar where you and Kaiden had your lunch and confirmed your love in ME3, before Priority: Citadel....you might get an answer to a question you asked in this video.
A VI is just a program and a database. If EVA could download the Mars archives then Lt. Plot Armor would not have any trouble sticking a hacking device into the beacon. Remember everyone's computers are built on Prothean>>>Reaper tech. It would not be a surprise to me if the Reapers also leave optimized programing languages, source code and compilers laying around too.
Missed some of the other dialogues with Javik and the asari artifacts before checking the scientists, but it was basically more of the same- Javik being sassy and prothean-splaining all of the Asari history and religion to the shadow broker Good, you opened this comment. This isn't actually-
@basicwitgirl how far along recording ru? We can help you with your armor situation. I don't think it's a spoiler, but I don't want another slap on the wrist.
Ya know, after thinking on it for a second, I really do think Joker would have said that with Liara in the room.... not Samara tho... ooooh boy oh boy that would be a reality I'd want to switch out of REAL QUICK!
The interest in watching is the journey of the player. This Shepard is dynamite on the battlefield---really a well-managed fighter. But things are getting intense, and the paragon/renegade choices are starting to blur....Is this Shepard really good? Or is it just a command style? paragon =manipulation by encouragement/renegade = manipulation by fear. So Javik says a bunch of encouraging things to get Liara up and running----and Shepard DARES to ask: "Did you really mean what you said?" Maybe Javik should ask Shepard that question. Maybe we'll get that answer before the end, but right now we just have Javik's answer: "Does it really matter?
I think I said it in KL's intro. I think Bioware said 'Hey, for the last game, we need a character that thebpeople hate more than TIM. Nah, he doesn't have to have been mentioned in the prior games. We just need a hatable character. And voila Kai Leng was born. If you ask anyone which character in ME 3 ppl can not stand, most of the time, the answer is KL. Oh, did you talk to Miranda in the citadel? You mentioned that she was there, but idk if you met up with her during a scan and panic vid or if she was missed.
Condition, black eyes -yep ya called it. Do all the side quests to get bar FULL :).And kiddo there are other classes and female and male ,pretty good replay .
This is when Liara starts to get on my nerves. I meet it. The reapers are taking Thessia, but Liara acts like we don't understand. I mean... Earth was taken in the first few minutes of the game. I get it, but she really just gets on my nerves...
I disagree. I think it makes her more of a believable character. People have a tendency to say that they empathize with suffering across the world, but it takes on an entirely different cast when your own home is under attack. It suddenly goes from being this abstract thing to being shockingly real. The more stable you thought things were, the more disturbed and upsetting you generally find it. Liara is essentially going through this. Oh, she genuinely wanted to help the other races but suddenly its her own civilization and it is suddenly personal and urgent.
Javik has already been through all of this - he is right to try and get her to focus on the task at hand rather than the destruction. I think it's just poor editing that she repeats the same sentiment several times, but it does get annoying. Anyone who goes on about "my people" is generally obnoxious.
I will not say what it is BUT Kaidan actually has a unique interaction on Thessia when Kai Leng insults Thane’s memory! I will not spoiler you but I will say that Kaidan delivers that line even if they have both been romanced by Shepard. He is classy like that. So maybe the internet would flame you for not taking Javik but then they would get a unique interaction that most of them never saw (like most people did when you did Eden Prime late lol)
Don't think there is a character more hated in this series than Kai Leng 🤣 They tried so hard to make him be menacing but he just comes across as a gigantic douche and I think much of that is because of his unqualified, incessant trash talking. If he'd keep his damn mouth shut, he'd be much more menacing, might be even considerd cool, and I at least might be inclined to forgive his plot armour. But if you got Troy Baker to voice a character, you gotta have him talk I guess 🤣even to the detriment of the whole character.
81 points. You had an actual member of a highly advanced psychic biotic extinct alien race on your side, but never took him with you before because the unseasoned celery stick had your full attention.
There’s nothing wrong with the way you sexually objectify Kayden. So leave James alone dammit! The blue beauties are one of the greatest parts about Mass Effect .
The salarian dalatrass wasn’t an antagonist she was just a bitch who doesn’t realize that the species they’ve punished have realized the error of their ways and that Wrex isn’t like that
I just caught up from watching through from the beginning so this comment is several videos late. I played an Infiltrator my first time through and while I could appreciate the higher damage, slower firing guns like the Black Widow (and loved using the original Widow in ME2), in ME3 I also preferred faster firing sniper rifles like the Viper though my go to gun was the Indra using the Concentration mod and usually either the extended barrel or the piercing mod. The Indra is a full auto sniper rifle that most other people I've seen talk about it view as useless, but I was getting good results with it. I did that run through on an easier difficulty so that might be part of why I liked it better than the others. In that playthrough I was able to combine the concentration mod and operational mastery's slow time effect together making it rediculously easy to land 2 or 3 head shots in a row before the target was even able to react and the high amount of ammo available meant that I rarely had to worry about running out. Even against Atlas Mechs I found it more useful since I could cloak, empty a clip into it's head, then duck back behind cover to let my cloak recharge while I reloaded. I usually also carried a Tempest with the ultralight materials mod in case something got up close and the two of them together were pretty light so my power recharge was pretty good, I think close to 200%. My biggest suggestion for finishing ME3 is to look up how the power combos work and try them out. Kaiden's Reave power is a universal detonator that also sets up a biotic combo and so is Liara's warp. So if you're facing a really strong enemy like an atlas mech or a Brite try using your Incinerate power on it or shooting it with Cryo Ammo. This will prime it for a Fire or Cryo explosion that Kaiden can detonate by hitting it with Reave. This will cause massive damage to up to 4 enemies in the blast radius and if the original enemy is still standing, it will be primed for a biotic explosion. If Liara is in your squad you can have her use Warp to cause a biotic detonation and also set up another biotic combo which you can detonate with flare since you have it as your bonus power.
I think you should not take Javik with you just because people in comments say so. This is your own play, if they are so desperate to see Javik they can play again themselves. I hate that some people have a “perfect” scenario in their minds and try to push it.
Nothing to do with perfect, just more entertaining. To be fair if you are going to make a business out of streaming you have to expect and respect some of the feedback. If she was dead set against it I'm sure she would not have done it. Kaiden is pretty boring as a squad mate TBH.
Kai Leng was always lame villain, they could do better, there were other more interesting options. One of low plot armor moments of ME3. Joker sister, if I'm not mistaken is at the citadel, that girl at refugee camp lvl (lower wards, or something?) I'm not sure if its cannon but her story you could hear passing by fits with what Joker said to you about her in this video. And in grim tone of this entire game, you can't do anything with her, just an NPC unless they change it in this edition (doubt it). And yes, I assume you already know after Sanctuary you have to do everything else before continuing main story.
I feel like they should have had Jacob pick up the “mantle” of Kai Leng and have him brainwashed and if you can’t find a way to free him from the control you’d be forced to kill him as I feel every character in these games should have at least 2 opportunities to die and Jacob, James and Liara are the only characters with one opportunity
@@frozen1762 true because it’s not Shepards plot armor that makes them the greatest soldier in the galaxy but their skills and capability while Kai Lengs plot armor makes him that instead of just writing him to be in Shepards level
Thessia used to be really nice, but now it's in asari state
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣😂
Oh hardy hah hah.
Too soon! 🤣
I. Am. SO. PISSED I never thought of that one!!!!
Get out.
Yeah and about Tiptree... and that girl wanting to be a pilot... The asari's story isn't over yet.
Dr. Bryson‘s lab is one of the best DLC‘s out of all three games. I imagine you’re going to heavily enjoy it
@30:07 as a veteran Javik is correct in the situation of war. empathy is a weakness although it is a strength in other situations just not war. in war empathy and emotions will get you killed when you are face to face with an enemy.
there was no war with Javik, just the harvest.
If you’ve recovered Javik, if you bring a different squad mate, they will also bring some reality to Liara when she doesn’t accept the obvious.
1:29:06 He means it when he says he knows what it is like to lose like that, if you haven't seen his 1:30:29 anime "Mass Effect Paragon Lost".
34:28 You can make a drinking game out of how many NPCs Laura Bailey plays in this game
She really rolled a Nat 20 on participation lol
Laura Bailey is all over ME3 as various Asari, it's wild.
I am so loving how immersed in the lore you are getting!
First of all, I FINALLY caught up to the live releases. I live reacted to your Priority: Tuchunka video and realised that I watched a little bit of your ME1 playthrough but never finished it. Kai Lengs annoying plot armor aside, after winning basically every mission they did a great job making the loss actually feel inpactfull on Thessia.
The post Thessia depression is such a bummer. Thank God we have some shore leave coming up. Great video Basic!
Nice game 🎮🎮🎮
Ah yes..Tiptree and Hilary...
It seems that AY's that have proven they can control themselves are sometimes given leave to go out into the general population. She did mention in one of the earlier encounters that she wanted a relationship but this other Asari "had a condition".
Bringing Javik to this is NUTS. I'm so glad you did.

Banger episode. Thessia is such a bombshell of a mission.

I know it was hard for you to leave K-boy in your cabin for this one, but thank you Basique for bringing Javik along with you and Liara. It was written to pretty much be his mission. And Kai Leng should be killed for that hair style alone 🤣
Kaidan was assigned mission Priority: Keep the Bed Warm 🫡
Kai Leng….I’m so looking forward to chopping that dumb ponytail right off his dumb head!!
you are a great streamer, very fun to watch, thank you
I appreciate that!

The lens flare on the last part of the mission… it buuuuuuurns!
I'm Cmdr Shepard, and (Kai Leng muted and given a face-covering helmet) THAT is my favorite mod on the Citadel.

lol @01:20:01 Game Over .. Windows sez 🙂*cheers
great plot instincts, indeed... but the truth is much much bleaker :) hold on tight for Sanctuary rollercoaster.
Moments like this, I'm jealous you have a dog you can pet.
Yeah, that PTSD Asari killed Jokers sister.
Captain Plot Armor strikes again!
BioWare could hurt me anytime and I would say thank you because the story is so good

OH YOU ARE SO SPOT ON!! Yes, the cheesy bag guy lines make him SO ANNOYING!! that and his stupid ponytail!!
81 points. You had an actual member of a highly advanced psychic biotic extinct alien race on your side, but never took him with you before because the unseasoned celery stick had your full attention.

Me: I’ll take Javik so people aren’t rude in the comments 😃👍🏻
The people in the comments: *LMAO YOU THOUGHT*
Kaidens toothbrush is next to the toilet? Eeeeeewwwwww
Basic likes that "fresh from the john" kissie taste!
There’s nothing wrong with the way you sexually objectify Kayden.
So leave James alone dammit!
The blue beauties are one of the greatest parts about Mass Effect .
Watching Thessia fall is never easy
Oh, Mass Effect 3. Between Kai Leng and the Delatrass, they made the most punchable antagonists in the whole series.
The salarian dalatrass wasn’t an antagonist she was just a bitch who doesn’t realize that the species they’ve punished have realized the error of their ways and that Wrex isn’t like that
Great episode as always, basic and Taylor!
Now Basique needs a 18+ cuddle session with Kaidan 😊
See you on Monday!
That's "Mass Effect: After Dark..."
SHE SO DOES 😂
"Ass Effect" if you will
I just caught up from watching through from the beginning so this comment is several videos late.
Kaidan is perfect ☺
@@axelnilsson5124 I would use Citadel DLC main villain as Kai Leng replacement. Then it would made sense why Cerebrus is always one step ahead.
@@frozen1762 true because it’s not Shepards plot armor that makes them the greatest soldier in the galaxy but their skills and capability while Kai Lengs plot armor makes him that instead of just writing him to be in Shepards level
