Progression through stage 4 brain cancer

  • I knew there was something there from the beginning, two weeks after surgery, full pathology was given to me by the wonderful neurosurgeon Dr. Chicoine. My speech right after surgery was hit or miss - I'd get the first letter of the word correctly but could say the wrong word. Each day I would improve, being able to move and speak well! Each day I get further and further, even though I take it just one day at a time, as positive as I can, even if I don't feel that great, I know I'm one step closer to being off treatment and getting to just live life!

    After years of considering a youtube page, I have finally begun now that I have a pretty big giant tumor that others may also have in their head. I'll be talking about how it affects my daily life and also where I find myself going through each day. Let me know if you have any questions!

      I was actually diagnosed 3 years ago as well! First MRI 7/20/18 then met my neurosurgeon 5 days later with an awake craniotomy (fancy brain surgery) 5 days after that!

      Just had MRI#22 this afternoon. When I did this video, I only had 3 MRIs before it!

      Well I forget to check my email or notifications so sorry for the late response! I have my 30th MRI on Tuesday before checking in with my oncologist on Thursday. I keep track of how many of these “spa days” to make sure nothing new shows up and if something does then it’s caught sooner rather than later.

      @@rosewink3299good to hear that you are fine.
      My wife was diagnosed with Glioblastoma grade 4 in December and goes through the standard treatment.
      I'd like to know what kind of treatments you have till now?
      What would you recommend to my wife?

      Wow I definitely have been terrible about responding! I actually just had MRI#21 with no indications of change WOOT WOOT 😎 I have had some changes to the preventative care as I now have epilepsy due to the location of my tumor. I had been taking 2 horse pills morning and night for a long time, finally I’m down to 1/4 the size of that giant pill twice a day while adapting to a much smaller anti seizure pill. The nice thing about the change is predominantly removing the feeling tired and worn out a lot. Thank you for reaching out!

      I am and just really failing at responding 😂 I had another MRI for a check up to make sure there is nothing new. And there isn’t! So I’m doing quite well considered going through radiation and chemo after the surgery. It’s been over 2 years since that last dose! Thank you for asking! I hope you are also doing well!

      I’m so sorry to just now respond to this. Somehow I missed the comment but had another show up a few days ago to this video. I have not considered this anytime where I thought how it could’ve been if I never looked at it. It may have been different between that first MRI and my surgery, but it the long run they would’ve called me regardless especially considering the size of my GBM Ulga. If I hadn’t looked at it, I also likely would’ve driven around, not that anything happened, but I was not on antiseizure meds and I could’ve had an accident occur due to seizure or potential stroke due to original size. Perhaps waiting to look at it with someone else right next to me rather than viewing it alone could’ve been different, but I got to have time to process what happened and to then be on top of my own health and seeking care as soon as I could to be sure that she got shut down before Ulga grew and spread across to the right side of my brain.

    Who gave you a black and eye?

    • @rosewink3299
      @rosewink3299  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for delayed response. Thankfully I didn’t get hit in the eye. This is actually because of the location of the brain surgery that I had. It was above my left ear and in a semicircle into my hairy towards the back as if putting in a ponytail (though only 1/3 of the way back) then circle continued until maybe 1/2” before my hairline touched the middle of my left forehead. It did take quite a few weeks for its to fully fade away, but it was finally my turn to say “you should see the other guy” 😂
