    Good stuff. Have you considered a dab of clear nail polish on the soft shutter release threads?

    Even with the thumb rest, I found the little wonder a bit slippery. I bought some grip tape, initially marketed for handguns, punched out some holes in two sizes, and indiscreetly peppered the hand surfaces...the dots (originally holes) came off easily when I prepped the camera for sale.

      That means your fingers are stickier than mine...or, it means you have been holding cameras about 3 decades longer than I have....hmmmmm.

    do you think there will be an x200 anytime soon?

    Get a small rubber gasket under on the soft shutter release and it's staying put when screwed tight. It's all well and good having a 'slew' of soft shutter buttons, but man, it's avoidable wastage.

    I like the strap... I have the poor man's version of the Fuji x100... the Ricoh GR with an APS-C sensor and no low pass filter.

      +Theoria Apophasis I guess it is subjective. I ran my X100S with the hood and a filter for a couple years but as of late run it naked. I love how small the camera is without all the accessories. I don't personally understand that grip Fuji brought out for the X100T. Seems like it makes the camera into something similar in size to an ILC. I appreciate my X100S for is small size.

    Ugh, it's ridiculous how much bullshit you have to slap onto the x100 to get it working well.

    • @KenTheoriaApophasis
      @KenTheoriaApophasis  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      none of that stuff makes it work better .
      :/ nope

      @Patio87 It's all optional stuff, not required to "get it working well." I ran my X100s stock for a while, but eventually added the Fuji hood and a Lensmate thumbrest (fit snugly, no shim required). It was just fine in stock trim, a little better (for me) with the accessories: I don't generally use protective filters, and only use lens caps for storage, so the hood helps protect the lens and I can wedge my finger under the hood to improve handheld stability. I'm ambivalent about the thumbrest: it does help the ergonomics a bit, especially when shooting verticals, but not so much that I'm willing to give up the hotshoe (a Phottix trigger lives in the hotshoe of my Nikon D7100). A neck strap certainly isn't an unheard of option, and Fuji even include one with the camera: I won't be without one, since I like to keep my hands free. I prefer sling straps so the camera is better controlled than it would be just bouncing off my chest: nothing fancy, just a strap long enough for me to sling diagonally.I don't use soft releases, but I still have a couple of old-school cable releases I can thread into the shutter release button--the thread size was standardized way back when and is not brand-specific. The grip may be a worthwhile improvement for some, and it is designed as an Arca Swiss-compatible tripod mount: a 2-for-1 deal.
