Vince, as everyone knows, is one of the biggest talents in the world : singing , songwriting , guitars, banjo fiddle, you name it, a master . Saw him many times in PPL and he was incredible. Before PPL he was in Byron Berlin's band and a band called Mountain Smoke where he came from in Olahoma. The guy sitting down , Jeff Wilson, was a friend of Gill's , a great guitar player who had many terrific duels in concert with Gill. He wrote some real nice songs for PPL including this one. Wilson went on to work in Hollywood as a grip and other stuff and worked on some major movies, Nice to see him almost 40 years later ! Thanks for posting this.
I knew Jeff and Vince back in those days. been looking to make contact with Jeff again before my time on this planet runs out. Any idea how I can contact him?
i remember when he joined pure prarrie league the song Amy was on of my favorite songs ever and the first song i ever played in front of an audience, thanks Vince!
Awesome Really enjoyed this clip. Thanks a million. VINCE sure has a voice, incredibly talented, & JENNY has an awesome voice like her Dad. VINCE is the Best. Waiting for a VINCE CD & a JENNY CD
Watch the Pure Prairie League videos. A baby-faced Vince in his early twenties with shoulder-length hair already showed the talent he has. Now at 60, he looks like a suburban dad who had a impromptu concert in his backyard after inviting the neighbors over for a barbecue.
Ain't technology wonderful. Vince does not remember the lyrics, so his daughter brings them up on her smart phone. I think it is cool that he did an impromptu performance of this old Pure Prarie Leage song.
@@pamelajoyce8991 I played professionally for years and I can tell you that if you do not play a song regularly, you will forget the lyrics. At least I did.
Jenny obviously knows this song and did a incredible job. Give her just as much credit as Vince. I have no background on this song but it seems they did this one somewhat impromptu.
I remember Vince in the early years, when he was a member of Pure Prairie League and sang lead on this classic song, gotta say I like the original version best"
Jebus, Jenny looks a lot like her Mom. Sings great too. Hey guys, Jeff Wilson was an old friend whom I lost touch with after the PPL era. Anyone know how I can contact him?.
rerelease this song with mandolin and you will have a hit. make the song slower with some wicked harmonies...slow and tender. get the rights, or just pay to "cover it" it would be worth it.
Geez, his voice sounds just the same as it did when he wrote this (just a bit of change of course) i mean, he sounded like a little kid when he first penned this.
I absolutely love Vince Gill's talent.
Love this so very much!!!! I remember my mom and dad slow dancing to this in the living room when I was a kid.
I love how his Daughter knows this song is awesome. Harmony in all its glory.

If he was a Grip in Hollywood, then he was part of a union and would have really good retirement benefits. Wouldn't have to work another day.

WOW! My heart is FULL!
It's like a daddy/daughter dance! How lovely you are.
I had so forgotten he sang w Pure Prairie League. Wow. It's been a minute
Pure sweetness and the mandolin was great harmonies sick !!
Always loved this song since I was a kid since it came out
I loved this song from the very first time I ever heard it and, immediately went and bought the album...
Vince's voice is incredible, one of my favorite groups from the late 70's-80-'s thanks for posting!
Great performance!!! His daughter is beautiful!!! Love this version with the mandolin.

@@harpoon_bakery162 She's the only woman onstage.

Always incredible. Time for a remake, Vince.
I agree...it still works and needs to be included in your next album, Vince.
So great with mandolin, too. Vince, I love you!
It's cool that Jenny sings too!!!!!
Yes!! I love this song!! "Wheres Dick Clark?" 😂😂

Watching the two videos together makes me feel happy, like in the long journey from there to here, everything turned out alright.
Wow, he even sounds better than he did in 1980. Amazing!

I was wondering the same thing...
Exactly!
I can't believe he does not remember these lyrics. 💯
Vince can do no wrong! He’s IMO guitar royalty. Obviously not the only one but his country music accolades speak for themselves.

Love the "off the cuff" style!
EXCELLENT!!!
Beautiful guys
Vince could sing me the telephone book and I would love it!!

Sweet Jeff! Now go get me a 2by3 solid.
Craig fuller was original singer and also wrote amie and has been back with ppl for years put out an album about 8 10yearsnow
Een today, Vince can sing his ass off. Lovely.
Fun night :)
Nice rendition years later what the original with the saxophone in it was Top Notch back in 1980 the song was a huge hit on country and pop charts
He probably has done this song 5 times in the last 30 years.
Geez, his voice sounds just the same as it did when he wrote this (just a bit of change of course) i mean, he sounded like a little kid when he first penned this.
I don't think he owns the rights unfortunately.
Was Amie a top 10?
No, it peaked somewhere in the 20s.
Amie was released in 1973, Vince wasn't a part till 1978, Amie is Pure Prairie League's biggest hit
+Michael Freeze It went to number 27 on the charts
+jimmyonthecorner Amie is their signature song, but Let Me Love You Tonight was their biggest pop hit. Went to number 10 on the charts in 1980.
why was Vince having to look at the words? omg? was he being serious?
was he lookin' at the lyrics on his daughters phone?
Is he reading the words on a phone? wtf
🤍🤍
I did not enjoy the shouting out and yelling out while the song was being played. That comes at the end of the song.
Some people are just hicks.
then George Strait stole the chorus for You look so good in love...
No, he didn't. There's always going to be some notes that sound similar, but he didn't steal the chorus.
Quit talking out your ass.
Really......he can't remember the words.....hell I still know them
Good for you. Do you want a prize?
