I did a doubletake to check if you were reviewing the same episode I am thinking of. I actually enjoyed episode 4 immensely. You said that nothing happened. Well a lot of things were happening in my head as Dexter viewer since the start of the show. The moment they showed Harrison listening to the podcast about the Trinity Killer - bam! I went “o.m.g.” In my head. So many thoughts raced through my mind til the end of the episode. I also want to note that I am enjoying Deb so much this season - macabre, sarcastic, funny, hella scary - her appearances run a gamut of emotions, I like her more now than she was alive. (Ooops, you know what I mean.)
Yea I really liked Deb in this episode too!! She got to do detective work, be a proud auntie, yell some more at Dexter - but my absolute favorite was the cheering fantasy of Debs!! I was cracking up - one of the Debs is wildly throwing her head around. Slays me.
I honestly so far thought this was the best episode to date. I really didn't think Harrison was going to attack this kid but to find out he has a dark passenger and used a weapon like Trinity. Who knows he could have Trinity as his dark passenger the way Dexter had Harry. Also the Clancy brown stuff and it was also good to see Dexter do some forensics stuff. Though I would also like to see someone else on Dexters table.

Personally, I didn't expect Harrison to have a dark passenger so that surprised me to some extend. I liked this episode and the show so far is good. I hope they won't mess it up.

right from the title and Harrison being confirmed to be in the show I had a feeling he could be the "new" dexter....hence the name "New Blood" , so cant say this has surprised me at all, Will say though, I love the slightly more restrained approach this season but this episode took some major strides forward into the gameplan being revealed for the season, and I actually thought it was the best one yet. Really looking forward to next weeks.

I’m LOVING this build up, yes there are only 10 episodes, but I guess the fact they skipped to the end of the “high school shooter scenario” means the show knows they don’t have time to waste, they also fully reveal who the “cabin shooter” is, and that Harrison has a dark passenger, and also that the podcaster wants to help with the “missing girls case” so you can’t say that nothing happened and that this episode is just filler, I thought it moved the story on perfectly with 6 episodes still to go to potentially tie thing up for ‘Dexter’ himself…but the possibility of Harrison ( who is clearly the “New Blood” ) moving on with his own tv series is there, which may give Showtime a new Golden Goose to move forward with💰🩸
I agree this episode put us in a direction with many possibilities along the path. The direction - Dexter getting suspicious of the missing girls Killer Possibilities along the path - Harrison possibly be doing his own secret dark passenger investigation that’s what led him their, or that he’s just feel the need and don’t understand and need guidance from dexter and many more creative possibilities.
After reading the comments, I gotta say I agree with them lol. This was actually my favorite episode yet. Think it was the opposite of filler as you had two major plot points revealed.
I personally liked the episode. There’s a lot you can see coming and I like how they’re handling certain things over others. I figured something was going to happen with his friend at some point, but was surprised it was that quick and I’m genuinely interested in what actually happened leading up. Was it to save people like Dexter does, or malicious more like Rudy? Would love at least ONE Rudy vision like we’ve been getting with Deb.
After seeing this episode I’m really starting to think that Harrison is lying about how Hannah died and he still have some hatred towards dexter just not saying anything.
Yeah maybe he found the letter and got mad at her for keeping kis father being alive a secret. He battled with his abandonment issues and went back to the US to search for Dexter. Now he's realized why Dexter may have thought he may develop "dark tendencies" because he spotted the trinity killer from Miami on the crime vloggers page. I don't think he knew prior what happened to his mom, and that was him coming to those realizations. I think it's going to go one of two ways. He's either going to end up killing dexter or him and dexter have to team up to take down some people. Whether it's to keep them from being exposed for who they really are, or to stop the villans. I'm excited to see where they take this.

I loved this episode. Also what I want to know is this:.How do we know for sure that this is REALLY Dexter's son? Did Hannah send pictures of Harrison as he was growing up? When was the last time Dexter saw videos or pics. of Harrison? The old Dexter would have gotten DNA to prove this is his son. Just saying...

I disagree. I think this episode was the best episode so far. I thought it was beautifully shot/composed. It also confirmed a lot of what we've been thinking as super fans. I can't be upset when fan theories are right/confirmed. Its actually is a cool feeling to get things right. :) I see that a lot of your comments are all in agreement. She probably doesn't remember or know what many victims of all the serial killers she talks about looks like. If she goes digging back into the Trinity case and catches a picture of Dexter now, I'm sure she'll notice something.

I think it's because she's not a true sleigh podcaster but one of those podcadters who just researches on the surface of the internet and then does one episode on it rather than a whole season like some others.
She will probably make a pic of something and one of her viewers will recognize Dexter Morgan. It was foreshadowed two times sort of: 1) Harrison found Dexter, because shop owner published photo of them bowling 2) Podcaster told in the 4th episode "You'd be surprised what 800,000 amateur sleuths can dig up..."
I think that when Hannah raised Harrison, she told him about what his father did to bad people, taught him the code, and now he’s running because he got caught. That’s how he ended up back with his father. And I knew the one guys dad was the one holding girls hostage and hunting them. I said that to myself, and then 5 minutes later he was walking with the blue haired girl up to the cabin in the middle of nowhere. I’m so stoked they brought dexter back. I can’t wait to see how this plays out. And if I it’s as good as past seasons, I hope they keep it going.
I'm curious to see which way it goes. Will it be Harrison vs Dexter or will they team up against the Ski Mask Killer? If Kurt comes after Harrison to get to Dexter, things will escalate quickly
I think Kurt(Curt?) is lying because they were going to look around for Matt more and when Angela mentioned that they will be checking the mines he seemed scared and defensive so I think thats were he might put the bodies so he wanted them to drop the case. But then again we dont really know what he completly does with the bodies
I also expected Harrison to have a dark passenger I was rooting against it but I expected it, I think that trinity is gonna show up as Harrison’s dark passenger similar to when dexters brother showed up as his dark passenger or Harry or deb as the anti dark passenger

I’m guessing (And Hoping) that Trinity will start showing up as another conscious for Dexter, like Deb and his Father. Maybe every major kill of Dexter’s just shows up in that form as a way of taunting or even guiding him in a way. Would love to see Trinity telling Dexter how he should handle his son’s situation, seeing how he handled his family mainly through fear
As soon as they showed the drawings in the previous episode, I already knew Harrison was gonna use that as a cover up to act out on his own. Do I forsee that later on Dexter may have to make a decision for the "greater good" seeing that Harrison is starting to show potential with serial killer tendacies?? Yeah maybe.
I liked this episode. I was one that didn’t quite know what direction they’d take Harrison so I was somewhat surprised that he attacked his “friend.” Harrison having a dark passenger makes total sense. And I’m not sure I believe them anymore when they say this will be the only season, it’s a lot going on.
Why didn't podcast lady recognise Dexter?? She clearly savy and would have investigated the Trinity killings extensively for her podcast, and would have likely seen Dextor Morgan's face and put two and two together.
This is what ive been waiting for that Harrison moment clearing any doubts. So good especially with the Trinity killer video right before also Dexter looking at the crime scene and putting it together was a great throwback to his Miami days.

That's what I want to know too but faking being another/fake person is a crime and would raise a lot of questions. Idk if it'll come out that he was the Bay Harbour Butcher, but I do think his real identity as Dexter Morgan will surface.
This weeks Debra is the closest one we’ve gotten to the original! This is what I wanted from her ghost. Sad ghostly stuff. Not yelling bullet force feeding stuff 😂🤷🏾♂️
I really enjoyed this episode. Deb’s great again and It’s nice seeing Dexter trying to be a good father. I like where the stories going. My only worry is that Harrison will find out why the trinity killer targeted Rita particularly and blame Dexter ultimately trying to kill him. Clyde Phillips said the ending to this season will blow our minds. Not sure if he was just selling the season or if it’s truly that epic but I’m loving it so far. For those who don’t know Clyde said his ending for the original show was after however many seasons they went on for Dexter would wake up on the execution table and realize his life was flashing before his eyes so all we had seen up to that point were just memories. Dexter would then be executed. I hope he doesn’t use that ending here but something just as crazy.

I kinda disagree. Personally I think the drone has some type of a meaning and I think the podcaster and the chief will eventually take down dexter because it’s typical now.
I’m almost wondering if he is really his son…what if he is really the trinitys son? Or if he is his son I think Harrison will kill him in the end and wants revenge for deb and his moms death because of dexter. Maybe he is playing dexter the whole time. He does seem to be a master manipulator
Respectfully, hard disagree with your take. I thought it was a great episode. There wasn't much action but it gave us a more clear picture of the direction things are heading. I highly doubt most viewers anticipated Harrison agressing onto the school shooter kid, and Dexter finding this all out about his son in a single episode. Also it got rid of the rumor that this wasn't actually Harrison, but someone pretending to be him. It's pretty much confirmed to be real Harrison. Also the ending made it more interesting as, I originally assumed the billionaire the one to be hunting the missing girls, but now they heavily imply it is the other father, which makes me question how the billionaire is relevant in the show. Along with Dexter's cop gf, and the podcaster teaming up, they will surely find some info on Dexter down the line, how will his GF react? Many interesting paths this could go.

I think the reason they didn’t put a big show on for Harrison attacking Ethan was to show that Dexter can still tell exactly what happened by just looking at the blood

@@jeffc1753 perhaps my expectations were too high. I walked into this expecting them to go for broke since they shortened the season and said this is all we're getting. I think back to how riveting and breakneck some of the previous seasons were and that's just not the pace they chose here.

It was when Kurt first heard they were going to check the caves that he said that he heard from him. Guessing he hides the bodies there. Especially because Dexter made a visit there too.
I thought this episode was the best one so far and technically, it’s the 100th episode of Dexter. Kurt being the killer or being some how involved was obvious because he owns an android while everyone else owns an iPhone and at the time the episode was written and filmed, you can’t FaceTime on an android which he was obviously lying about

Do him and Dexter team up? Also, I think the skinnier old guy who started the protest was the guy in the hotel room watching the monitor, that was my guess, but maybe it’s Kirk. I had seen something bout showtime didn't want to get rid of Dexter and had told the show not to kill Dexter. Then was said that Michael c hall had signed a 3 year contract so I don't know if that mean Dexter is only going for 3 seasons or what or if Harrison is going to take over since it's called new blood.

Anyone saying that Dexter will end up on Harrisons table, I dont agree because Michael Hall said they brought Dexter back because people hated the way the original Dexter ended, I would really hate that as a new ending for Dexter. That to me would be worse than showing Dexter in a logging town, putting his boots on the table. My only complaint so far on any of this is that Dexter living anywhere in the lower 48 would surely get him recognized sooner or later. They should have had him living in Alaska or N. Canada.
I was actually a pretty big fan of this episode, we got some forensics from Dexter: the best blood splatter analysis ever. Which we probably will never get again. Could it have been done better, probably. But still.
I mean it wasn't without good reason, and in a way it's exactly what dexter would've done/has done in the past. Framing someone to make it look like an accident or he was victim? Look what he did to doakes when he headbutted him knowing he would get attacked out of nowhere. He channeled his dark passenger and attacked someone deserving

Harrison's Dark Passenger was no surprise. Dexter slipped up about Kurt's son being the boat driver and now Kurt is on to Dexter. Cool episode but so far this season is moving way too slow for me. I hope things pick up soon. I think Dexter may have to choose between killing Harrison or taking the fall himself for Harrison.
Personally, I enjoyed this episode and don't think it was mere "filler," but the show still isn't quite revving up the way I want. But at least I know it's building up to SOMETHING INTERESTING. And I'm enjoying the Harrison stuff a lot more than anything in Season 8. I also heard a theory that the drone Kurt Caldwell gave to Harrison might be bugged! He may be on to "Jim."
As much as I dislike the teenage drama storyline, this episode at least made it clear why it was necessary. There is just something about Audrey that really bores me lol. Good episode this week.

Idk man, Filler is the last thing I'd describe this episode as..? I will admit that the plot is a slower burn then the original Dexter series, with their typical 1 kill per show pacing, however, I actually enjoy this build up. I also agree that most fans knew that as soon as Harrison was penciled in for a return, that we all knew he likely would struggle with a Dexter-like Dark passenger. But I don't mind them slowly building the plot and character development this way. I do believe the pace will pick-up from this point on... I have a feeling the shows about to get real interesting. I'm in between I think haha I liked the episode overall, but like you also, I felt that there was no tension whatsoever. But it's probably because I figured out the episode from the get go as well so I was just waiting for those things to happen. What I'm starting to think too is that they didn't seem to write the season like the classic one episode per week, with cliffhangers, stories that wrap up by the end of an episode, etc and that it would probably be better as a binge watch. Like I don't think this episode was a filler at all, but it felt like one because it's only an hour per week of content, if that makes sense. We'll see how it goes but I'm pretty sure the season will be a lot better when we'll be able to watch it in its entirety. Some notes : 1- I think Kurt brings the girls for Edward Olsen to kill. Or they have a deal of some sorts. It's weird because in a way, he seems to be genuine by helping the girl(gave her money to take the bus, wanted to give her a job) so I don't know why he would killer her(if it's indeed Kurt who does the killings) 2- I'm not sure if Harrison really has a dark passenger. We're lead to think so because it would be obvious, but maybe he already knows that Dexter is a serial killer and wanted to see if he had it in him. Unless he's the perfect serial killer : Having the heart of gold and empathy of Rita but the intelligence of Dexter. 3- Since it was hinted that she has 800 000 detectives, I'm pretty sure someone will recognize Dexter in a picture that she will probably take at some point. 4- I still don't buy Harrison's story about Hannah's death though...actually I still don't trust him at all haha There are too many questions on why he went to a foster family instead of Rita's parents or Cody and Astor grandparents. Seems weird to me that the system didn't send him to them.
The dumbest part was how Deb was saying all episode that Harrison was innocent and then at the end she randomly remembers that he too was born in blood...
I suppose the point of the podcast chick and Angela getting close is that in her list of podcasts, it wouldn't surprise me if she ends up discovering some photos of Miami Metro and Dexter being in them. I'm sure it's going to turn up that way...maybe not, idfk.
I think Clancy Brown lied about talking to his son because he was scared that a search would turn up all the bodies he has stashed. He looked scarred when Angela mentioned looking in the old mines.
I appreciate your analysis, but I hardly would consider this a filler episode. So many things were revealed in this episode, whether you predicted it or not. They may be leading us down a rabbit hole with a few things, but we're going to see some things in the next few weeks. Loved it and I was only disappointed when it ended.
With everything going on (or not going on) and how Phillips talked about the ending, there has to be some kind of subversion. It's going along too predictably and kind of beat for beat to have some kind of 'shocking' ending.. I'm starting to think that Dexter has been killing this whole time.
Honest thought. Dexter and Harrison work together to kill the real evil while teaching Harrison how to do it properly. Then I bet they make a spin off of Harrison’s life.
I did like this episode personally but I am wondering when this show is going to pick up because like Dexter has killed one person and him and Clancy Brown have spoke but not really butted heads yet, but I'm exicted
Early in the season I was pretty certain that Harrison had Dexter’s dark passenger, but now I’m leaning the other way and I hope I’m wrong, because I like the storyline of Harrison ultimately being so dark that Dexter has to put him down by the end of the season, but I now rule this scenario out. I now lean towards the reason behind Harrison looking up his father, is to turn him in to avenge his mother and Deb. If Harrison had the darkness, he would have done more than stabbed his “friend” in the leg, so I believe him when he says that he didn’t mean to hurt him like that. I think that Harrison intends to fool Dexter into thinking that he shares his darkness so Dexter will reveal his. He’s essentially vetting Dexter... not to kill him, but to turn him in. There’s the scene after the stabbing before bed, when Harrison says to Dexter, have you ever had a situation scare the shit out of you like that? And ultimately when Dexter doesn’t reveal, he says, never mind, I’m fine. Of course they want us to assume it’s frustration over Dexter not opening up, but I think it’s possibly manipulation to get Dexter to tell him the truth. And jfyi - I absolutely hate this scenario because the whole show will play out like a public service announcement, if you break the rules you will get caught and that the good ole justice system, “the good guys” will prevail. I’m sick of the cliché of there always having to be consequences to societal rules being broken when all said is done. For once I think a show like Dexter set itself up to be the first show ever to let someone get away with it, with a happy ending… the Lumberjack ending was not that… it was an ending to show that even though Dexter got away with it, he’s living in his own personal hell, which is just as cliché. If indeed this is scripted for a one season show, I'm 99% certain what the ending will be because the show runner expressed how he intended to end it on multiple occasions. Dexter getting caught and getting the death penalty with the final scene being Dexter seeing all of his victims on the wall just before he is executed, which I hate this ending with a passion. At the very least I hope I’m wrong about Harrison, but the Dexter execution ending is pretty much set in stone.
PS: A valid reason I Don't believe Harrison slashed Ethan's leg w/No provocation or maliciously, is cus in his speech to classmates on Ethan's kill list, He pointed out how They severely bullied Ethan for years & so Ethan also was a victim of their behavior; and that each of them have good & some bad within them. And Harrison defended Ethan to a jerk classmate prior, which shows he has True compassion for Ethan & likely others who are wronged, so he seems warm- hearted vs. Cold-blooded.

To clarify, I do think he may have slashed Ethan's leg first, but Not unprovoked meaning I believe Ethan did tell him he was sick of the bullies crap & was going to bring guns to Shoot them, & he wanted H to be involved. I think That's likely true, especially from Ethan's Violent detailed drawings. But I am critical of Harrison, as he should have at least told his dad or the school re Ethan's Violent drawings, so maybe he did want to know what it felt like to stab Ethan, but Not kill him.

Personally, I didn't expect Harrison to have a dark passenger so that surprised me to some extend. I liked this episode and the show so far is good. I hope they won't mess it up.

right from the title and Harrison being confirmed to be in the show I had a feeling he could be the "new" dexter....hence the name "New Blood" , so cant say this has surprised me at all, Will say though, I love the slightly more restrained approach this season but this episode took some major strides forward into the gameplan being revealed for the season, and I actually thought it was the best one yet. Really looking forward to next weeks.

I’m LOVING this build up, yes there are only 10 episodes, but I guess the fact they skipped to the end of the “high school shooter scenario” means the show knows they don’t have time to waste, they also fully reveal who the “cabin shooter” is, and that Harrison has a dark passenger, and also that the podcaster wants to help with the “missing girls case” so you can’t say that nothing happened and that this episode is just filler, I thought it moved the story on perfectly with 6 episodes still to go to potentially tie thing up for ‘Dexter’ himself…but the possibility of Harrison ( who is clearly the “New Blood” ) moving on with his own tv series is there, which may give Showtime a new Golden Goose to move forward with💰🩸

After reading the comments, I gotta say I agree with them lol. This was actually my favorite episode yet. Think it was the opposite of filler as you had two major plot points revealed.
I personally liked the episode. There’s a lot you can see coming and I like how they’re handling certain things over others. I figured something was going to happen with his friend at some point, but was surprised it was that quick and I’m genuinely interested in what actually happened leading up. Was it to save people like Dexter does, or malicious more like Rudy? Would love at least ONE Rudy vision like we’ve been getting with Deb.

Yeah maybe he found the letter and got mad at her for keeping kis father being alive a secret. He battled with his abandonment issues and went back to the US to search for Dexter. Now he's realized why Dexter may have thought he may develop "dark tendencies" because he spotted the trinity killer from Miami on the crime vloggers page. I don't think he knew prior what happened to his mom, and that was him coming to those realizations. I think it's going to go one of two ways. He's either going to end up killing dexter or him and dexter have to team up to take down some people. Whether it's to keep them from being exposed for who they really are, or to stop the villans. I'm excited to see where they take this.

She probably doesn't remember or know what many victims of all the serial killers she talks about looks like. If she goes digging back into the Trinity case and catches a picture of Dexter now, I'm sure she'll notice something.

I think it's because she's not a true sleigh podcaster but one of those podcadters who just researches on the surface of the internet and then does one episode on it rather than a whole season like some others.
She will probably make a pic of something and one of her viewers will recognize Dexter Morgan.
It was foreshadowed two times sort of:
1) Harrison found Dexter, because shop owner published photo of them bowling
2) Podcaster told in the 4th episode "You'd be surprised what 800,000 amateur sleuths can dig up..."

I think that when Hannah raised Harrison, she told him about what his father did to bad people, taught him the code, and now he’s running because he got caught. That’s how he ended up back with his father. And I knew the one guys dad was the one holding girls hostage and hunting them. I said that to myself, and then 5 minutes later he was walking with the blue haired girl up to the cabin in the middle of nowhere. I’m so stoked they brought dexter back. I can’t wait to see how this plays out. And if I it’s as good as past seasons, I hope they keep it going.

I think Kurt(Curt?) is lying because they were going to look around for Matt more and when Angela mentioned that they will be checking the mines he seemed scared and defensive so I think thats were he might put the bodies so he wanted them to drop the case. But then again we dont really know what he completly does with the bodies
I also expected Harrison to have a dark passenger I was rooting against it but I expected it, I think that trinity is gonna show up as Harrison’s dark passenger similar to when dexters brother showed up as his dark passenger or Harry or deb as the anti dark passenger

I’m guessing (And Hoping) that Trinity will start showing up as another conscious for Dexter, like Deb and his Father. Maybe every major kill of Dexter’s just shows up in that form as a way of taunting or even guiding him in a way. Would love to see Trinity telling Dexter how he should handle his son’s situation, seeing how he handled his family mainly through fear
As soon as they showed the drawings in the previous episode, I already knew Harrison was gonna use that as a cover up to act out on his own. Do I forsee that later on Dexter may have to make a decision for the "greater good" seeing that Harrison is starting to show potential with serial killer tendacies?? Yeah maybe.
I liked this episode. I was one that didn’t quite know what direction they’d take Harrison so I was somewhat surprised that he attacked his “friend.” Harrison having a dark passenger makes total sense. And I’m not sure I believe them anymore when they say this will be the only season, it’s a lot going on.
Why didn't podcast lady recognise Dexter?? She clearly savy and would have investigated the Trinity killings extensively for her podcast, and would have likely seen Dextor Morgan's face and put two and two together.
She may know more than she's letting on. She's trying to get closer with the police chief, perhaps a way to get to dexter aswell.

I really enjoyed this episode. Deb’s great again and It’s nice seeing Dexter trying to be a good father. I like where the stories going. My only worry is that Harrison will find out why the trinity killer targeted Rita particularly and blame Dexter ultimately trying to kill him. Clyde Phillips said the ending to this season will blow our minds. Not sure if he was just selling the season or if it’s truly that epic but I’m loving it so far.
For those who don’t know Clyde said his ending for the original show was after however many seasons they went on for Dexter would wake up on the execution table and realize his life was flashing before his eyes so all we had seen up to that point were just memories. Dexter would then be executed. I hope he doesn’t use that ending here but something just as crazy.
My guess is that Trinity is going to be the “dark passenger”/voice in Harrison’s head.

Respectfully, hard disagree with your take. I thought it was a great episode. There wasn't much action but it gave us a more clear picture of the direction things are heading. I highly doubt most viewers anticipated Harrison agressing onto the school shooter kid, and Dexter finding this all out about his son in a single episode. Also it got rid of the rumor that this wasn't actually Harrison, but someone pretending to be him. It's pretty much confirmed to be real Harrison. Also the ending made it more interesting as, I originally assumed the billionaire the one to be hunting the missing girls, but now they heavily imply it is the other father, which makes me question how the billionaire is relevant in the show. Along with Dexter's cop gf, and the podcaster teaming up, they will surely find some info on Dexter down the line, how will his GF react? Many interesting paths this could go.

Molly knows Dexter's real name. Rita's face on Harrison's phone in the trinity podcast thumbnail is from their wedding, Dexter's face is just cropped out.
I think the reason they didn’t put a big show on for Harrison attacking Ethan was to show that Dexter can still tell exactly what happened by just looking at the blood
Also I think that Harrison knows Dexter will be able to tell the true story from the blood evidence..he wants to test him..he knows

It was when Kurt first heard they were going to check the caves that he said that he heard from him. Guessing he hides the bodies there. Especially because Dexter made a visit there too.
I thought this episode was the best one so far and technically, it’s the 100th episode of Dexter. Kurt being the killer or being some how involved was obvious because he owns an android while everyone else owns an iPhone and at the time the episode was written and filmed, you can’t FaceTime on an android which he was obviously lying about
Great content, i respectfully disagree with this being the worse episode so far or a ‘filler’ episode. Harrison could of been normal, the fact he has a ‘dark passenger’ is very unique. Do him and Dexter team up? Also, I think the skinnier old guy who started the protest was the guy in the hotel room watching the monitor, that was my guess, but maybe it’s Kirk. Anyone saying that Dexter will end up on Harrisons table, I dont agree because Michael Hall said they brought Dexter back because people hated the way the original Dexter ended, I would really hate that as a new ending for Dexter. That to me would be worse than showing Dexter in a logging town, putting his boots on the table. My only complaint so far on any of this is that Dexter living anywhere in the lower 48 would surely get him recognized sooner or later. They should have had him living in Alaska or N. Canada.
I was actually a pretty big fan of this episode, we got some forensics from Dexter: the best blood splatter analysis ever. Which we probably will never get again. Could it have been done better, probably. But still.

Harrison's Dark Passenger was no surprise. Dexter slipped up about Kurt's son being the boat driver and now Kurt is on to Dexter. Cool episode but so far this season is moving way too slow for me. I hope things pick up soon. I think Dexter may have to choose between killing Harrison or taking the fall himself for Harrison.
I liked this ep alot, I clapped at the end when we found out he used a straight razor like Dexter chops his victims up the same way his mother was
Personally, I enjoyed this episode and don't think it was mere "filler," but the show still isn't quite revving up the way I want. But at least I know it's building up to SOMETHING INTERESTING. And I'm enjoying the Harrison stuff a lot more than anything in Season 8. I also heard a theory that the drone Kurt Caldwell gave to Harrison might be bugged! He may be on to "Jim."

As much as I dislike the teenage drama storyline, this episode at least made it clear why it was necessary. There is just something about Audrey that really bores me lol. Good episode this week.
Just like you, I guessed all of it. Still a good episode though. The last scene when Dexter finds Harrison's razor, he gives a little quick smirk. Dexter seems to like the fact that his son has his dark passenger.

I will admit that the plot is a slower burn then the original Dexter series, with their typical 1 kill per show pacing, however, I actually enjoy this build up.
I also agree that most fans knew that as soon as Harrison was penciled in for a return, that we all knew he likely would struggle with a Dexter-like Dark passenger. But I don't mind them slowly building the plot and character development this way.
I do believe the pace will pick-up from this point on... I have a feeling the shows about to get real interesting.

I'm in between I think haha I liked the episode overall, but like you also, I felt that there was no tension whatsoever. But it's probably because I figured out the episode from the get go as well so I was just waiting for those things to happen. What I'm starting to think too is that they didn't seem to write the season like the classic one episode per week, with cliffhangers, stories that wrap up by the end of an episode, etc and that it would probably be better as a binge watch. Like I don't think this episode was a filler at all, but it felt like one because it's only an hour per week of content, if that makes sense. We'll see how it goes but I'm pretty sure the season will be a lot better when we'll be able to watch it in its entirety. Some notes :
1- I think Kurt brings the girls for Edward Olsen to kill. Or they have a deal of some sorts. It's weird because in a way, he seems to be genuine by helping the girl(gave her money to take the bus, wanted to give her a job) so I don't know why he would killer her(if it's indeed Kurt who does the killings)
2- I'm not sure if Harrison really has a dark passenger. We're lead to think so because it would be obvious, but maybe he already knows that Dexter is a serial killer and wanted to see if he had it in him. Unless he's the perfect serial killer : Having the heart of gold and empathy of Rita but the intelligence of Dexter.
3- Since it was hinted that she has 800 000 detectives, I'm pretty sure someone will recognize Dexter in a picture that she will probably take at some point.
4- I still don't buy Harrison's story about Hannah's death though...actually I still don't trust him at all haha There are too many questions on why he went to a foster family instead of Rita's parents or Cody and Astor grandparents. Seems weird to me that the system didn't send him to them.
The dumbest part was how Deb was saying all episode that Harrison was innocent and then at the end she randomly remembers that he too was born in blood...
After the second episode they changed the title to New Blood, yes it was obvious from there on... Like we haven't seen this done before...

I appreciate your analysis, but I hardly would consider this a filler episode. So many things were revealed in this episode, whether you predicted it or not. They may be leading us down a rabbit hole with a few things, but we're going to see some things in the next few weeks. Loved it and I was only disappointed when it ended.

With everything going on (or not going on) and how Phillips talked about the ending, there has to be some kind of subversion. It's going along too predictably and kind of beat for beat to have some kind of 'shocking' ending.. I'm starting to think that Dexter has been killing this whole time.
Honest thought. Dexter and Harrison work together to kill the real evil while teaching Harrison how to do it properly. Then I bet they make a spin off of Harrison’s life.

Early in the season I was pretty certain that Harrison had Dexter’s dark passenger, but now I’m leaning the other way and I hope I’m wrong, because I like the storyline of Harrison ultimately being so dark that Dexter has to put him down by the end of the season, but I now rule this scenario out. I now lean towards the reason behind Harrison looking up his father, is to turn him in to avenge his mother and Deb. If Harrison had the darkness, he would have done more than stabbed his “friend” in the leg, so I believe him when he says that he didn’t mean to hurt him like that. I think that Harrison intends to fool Dexter into thinking that he shares his darkness so Dexter will reveal his. He’s essentially vetting Dexter... not to kill him, but to turn him in. There’s the scene after the stabbing before bed, when Harrison says to Dexter, have you ever had a situation scare the shit out of you like that? And ultimately when Dexter doesn’t reveal, he says, never mind, I’m fine. Of course they want us to assume it’s frustration over Dexter not opening up, but I think it’s possibly manipulation to get Dexter to tell him the truth.
And jfyi - I absolutely hate this scenario because the whole show will play out like a public service announcement, if you break the rules you will get caught and that the good ole justice system, “the good guys” will prevail. I’m sick of the cliché of there always having to be consequences to societal rules being broken when all said is done. For once I think a show like Dexter set itself up to be the first show ever to let someone get away with it, with a happy ending… the Lumberjack ending was not that… it was an ending to show that even though Dexter got away with it, he’s living in his own personal hell, which is just as cliché.
If indeed this is scripted for a one season show, I'm 99% certain what the ending will be because the show runner expressed how he intended to end it on multiple occasions. Dexter getting caught and getting the death penalty with the final scene being Dexter seeing all of his victims on the wall just before he is executed, which I hate this ending with a passion. At the very least I hope I’m wrong about Harrison, but the Dexter execution ending is pretty much set in stone.
PS: A valid reason I Don't believe Harrison slashed Ethan's leg w/No provocation or maliciously, is cus in his speech to classmates on Ethan's kill list, He pointed out how They severely bullied Ethan for years & so Ethan also was a victim of their behavior; and that each of them have good & some bad within them. And Harrison defended Ethan to a jerk classmate prior, which shows he has True compassion for Ethan & likely others who are wronged, so he seems warm- hearted vs. Cold-blooded.
But did you see the look in his eyes after he visited Ethan and talked to the parents? After they told him they never wanna see him again...
@@MrChillywilly7 yes, I think Harrison looked surprised & sad at their reaction, I didn't feel he looked angry. To clarify, I do think he may have slashed Ethan's leg first, but Not unprovoked meaning I believe Ethan did tell him he was sick of the bullies crap & was going to bring guns to Shoot them, & he wanted H to be involved. I think That's likely true, especially from Ethan's Violent detailed drawings. But I am critical of Harrison, as he should have at least told his dad or the school re Ethan's Violent drawings, so maybe he did want to know what it felt like to stab Ethan, but Not kill him.
This was the perfect episode for me. Each scene made sense and the whole drive had a great pace.
