A second person with a closeup on the rabbit so you can do a slow-mo on the headshot
@@KAHOTEA I'm going to give it a go with my phone. The camera is a lot better and I should be able to zoom in a bit and get more than just pixels....
@@theferalphilosopher-huntin1372 yeah that would be good, first show the gopro then after that the camera closeup then slow-mo of the lead hitting the target, hell even show the ones that got away would still be good to watch
if you could breaking down some of the pro techniques like what ammo you use and your settup in a more understandable format for newbs.
maybe a mic for voiceovers would increase your quality greatly, an intro would be good aswell

Well done and congrats on the first hunt!! I'm still figuring out aiming at different ranges. Suggestion: if you place the gopro on your head, you'll be able to capture the fork and bands. Cheers!

Nice hunt, legaly we can't use lead so I have been learning to use a slingshot with 11mm steel!

Great one good on you! I hunt rabbits too with my own drsign as i find sports shops slingshots weak pathetic toys.
I use 4x 3/8" tubes. Yousta use x2 but now its x4. Ruger pistol grip i carved wrist brace; counterweights firward or back. And 4x rotating cams to get rid of that nasty dead zone thru the middle on release

Yeah, I had the same problem with the store bought ones. Not many to choose from in NZ until now :)

I like your Technik to hunting rabbits and the slingshot are amazing, genius design, with paracote, and the clips, I make slingshots too, from wood but your is another level i hope I winn this incredible slingshot, 👍😱

Nice one mate, good to see the video. Someone below commented that a second person as camera person would help. Tripod maybe too as an alternative but I know from experience how slow that makes progress through a hunt (or fishing trip in my case). You say this is the final Monster? Has the Demon replaced it? Can you give us an outline of that sometime with the improvements on the newer model?
The 'improvements' are from the production side. The offset handle on the Monster was done to make the torch/camera attachment closer to the same level as the aiming dimp. The problem for building was that it makes the frame 'handed', so I was having to wait for an order and then finish the frame. Having them ambidextrous means I can do five in a weekend.
As you can see from the video, the symmetrical frame doesn't affect the camera view.
The trick was making a symmetrical frame that I could wrap with paracord. If you look carefully at the Demon it is a complicated wrap.
When I say 'last Monster', I mean last monster for now. I'll do another batch some ways down the line, but I'm having fun designing and building new things. I have a couple of other designs up my sleeve in the meantime :D

Fab shot. Love your style. Im reasionably new to this so currently investigating pretty well everything so any advice is appreciated particularly on shot suitable for feral birds.

Nice shot man. What I have found with using go pros and duck hunting is to make teh field of view narrow as it focuses in more and can see more detail. espically on barrel mounted camera. I would think it would be the same for the camera under the slingshot.

I buy my lead ammo from a blackpowder weapon supplier called reloading supplies. Though there are some cast in NZ available on Trademe

Nicely done, your camera mount is a very good idea a different longer lens, would help don't know if they exist for action cameras and hardly like you want a full on camera attached.
Have done some messing with CCTV cameras for DIY night vision that's probably not streamlined enough.
I have an attachment for my phone that works a treat. Problem is that it is super heavy. Now I think about it, that should be fine for hunting because you only take a few shots. For target shooting it is way too heavy.
@@theferalphilosopher-huntin1372 Probably better footage from the phone. For a pure hunting setup having a NV spotter with screen on the mount would be quite slick, combined with a for shooting.
@@mrln247 NV would be perfect for possum hunting. The mic's that I have seen attach to the phone, so thats just extra stuff hanging off my arm :D
If your handy with fabrication especially with a 3D printer IR NV isn't too tricky, and cheap (dont know about NZ ebay) quite a bit of info for scope add ons/spotters. Best in open ground though as any bright foreground undergrowth tends to take over.

Just started getting intonthe slingshot business now with the world ending and everything, probably wanting to hunt somewhere along the way, always wanted to know what pigeon tastes like :)

Thank you :) I have eaten doves that I hunted with my slingshot. They were pretty tasty, dark meat, quite gamey. The only problme was that each breast fillet was about the saze of a chicken nugget 🤣 You might need eight for a meal
@@theferalphilosopher-huntin1372 Well...that sounds...bad. :D Anyway, its better than nothing and the good thing about them is that they are plentiful in the cities and they are simple little creatures, they walk up to you so you could catch them with a butterfly net. Anyway, hope we dont get to that point where I will need to hunt these birds in order to feed the family.

Why is this the last Feral Monster slingshot? Why aren't you making them anymore, because as slingshots go it's unique?
I had a big run cut and sold all of them but the last one. Since then I have made new designs that I am excited about so will be making them for a while. Will probably do another run of the monster in future.

Where you shooting full butterfly
I haven't tried hunting full butterfly yet. I'm not accurate enough. But damn, it will be brutal when I manage it. I like to full butterfly 11mm lead. It's bloody terrifying but the power is unreal.

I’ll be going out for some more bunnies soon 😁 I spent a few weekends dialing in my accuracy and testing out different tapers for an upcoming video using ballistic gel.

Thanks. Yeah, I have been trying out different tapers to lower the draw weight so I can hold my shot for longer and take my time with aim. Its made a big difference.
