There are so many horses out there. Hock problems are not good. Getting a horse that you already know has problems, may not be a great deal. It's costs less to take care of a healthy, sound horse and most of the expense of horse care is not the initial price, it is the upkeep. I know that Lily is excited, but take it from someone who has had multiple horses, take your time and get a horse that is broke and healthy.
Agreed. We’ve switched to bringing in the “throwaway” animals as we are too disabled to ride anymore. But if you’re riding the horse you absolutely need a sound animal.
Absolutely. Do not hesitate get an unsound horse. Spend the extra money to get a vet inspection. Not the sellers vet. You could very easily spend thousands on trying to fix an injured horse, never mind illnesses. Also dentist visit once yearly. Not cheap.
I agree that a vet the seller uses isn't the one you should have. Check the horse out completely.. Blood work is a good idea, too. You'll be able to see what drugs they're on. People are not all honest.I call it drugged up to sell. (Masking laminitis & joint Problems)
Red Flag. Joint injections! Injections good for one year quickly turn into every 6 months, every month, and then an unusable horse. I have owned one of those. If you want a horse Lily can ride into it's 20's, keep searching, there are many sound well trained equines out there looking for a new home.
Why the HUGE RUSH TO BUY THIS sick/lame Horse? A healthy horse will cost 6- $10,000 a yr so buy a sick one and add more stress and burn out to the burn out! Poor Lily will be so disappointed that you have her hopes all up....the first people PASSED...WHY? So if I was you Justin and Rebecca I'd call your friend the horse lady and ask HER what she would do. You know NOTHING about horses and you are going about your education in the most difficult of ways as it appears. I hope we are All wrong. I sure hope.
As a horse person I recommend used tack stores. They sell everything she just listed and my advice ask the old owner to send the horse's current stuff. also as the saying goes as one door close another one open.if the first choice horse doesn't work out then it wasn't meant to be
These things grow. I started with a bright red bareback pad, a bridle, two brushes and a hoof pick, halter and rope. Feed, shoes, vet and stall rent were all paid by my wonderful single Mama. Who was, by the way, terrified of horses. By the time I sold him, that horse had every bell and whistle possible on a budget. Owning a horse is very expensive, if you fall for every toy and thing others say you HAVE to have. Also, it was probably the most deeply healing and enabling time in my life. (Riding bareback is very important to teach you how to hang on with your knees, and how to fall off without injuring yourself. Only bareback riding teaches balance and how to become one with the way a horse moves. Use a pad or create the need to wash your pants daily.)
Mr Brown needs my Dad to discipline him. Not corporal punishment. Don’t misunderstand me. My Dad represented Discipline. If dad wasn’t able to be manipulated, MrBrown would actually like it. Kids want boundaries. This is just ones man’s opinion
What if he got Lily a donkey before a horse?? 🐴. I’ve seen little girls ride them bareback and donkeys can be more gentle and friendly, less intimidating, SAFER* and cheaper. Seems like y’all don’t know much about horses and with all your projects going on may not be a good decision, like mountain biking.
My thought is as a previous horse owner is to run far away from a horse with known hock problems. Horses are incredibly expensive to keep. Add into the fact they are herd animals and don't do well by themselves. They really do need a pasture mate. I would find someone highly educated in horse keeping and take Lily with you for a deep discussion. They don't call horses money pits for nothing. Just my 2 cents.
Gotta remember he is in it for social media money, look at the sheep dying without immediate help, getting a sick horse, it's all part of the money making machine
I would recommend talking with her riding instructor and having her help you guys pick out a horse if you haven’t already. 😊 Also ask about a free lease to test the horse out before you make a solid purchase. I went through 6 or 7 leased horses before I found Allie who I’ve had for 10 years and she is my best friend.
It’s just like buying a home, if you do your due diligence and if it’s meant to be, it will work out. If it’s not meant to be, there is something better out there waiting for you. Sometimes you just have to let go and wait for the next better thing. There is a horse out there just waiting for Lily. She has a lifetime ahead to be an awesome horse woman. ❤❤
Hi Rhodes family, I watch you all everyday that you post and enjoy all of your content. Thank you for putting out so much for us to enjoy. We had quite a few horses. My dad raised standardbred race horses and I had a nice paint for riding. Just a suggestion even though it’ll be to late by the time you see it. I would pass on this horse. I know it’s easy to get excited about it and want to get one as soon as possible but you should wait and find a sound healthy horse. Don’t buy anything that isn’t healthy and in good condition. You should find one that is being ridden not just out on pasture. You want it to be in the pasture when you arrive and have the owner catch the horse, halter it and bring it over. Have the owner handle the horse and you watch how it walks, holds it’s head and behaves. It should walk smoothly, be attentive to the handler, easy to catch. Have them brush it, clean it’s hoofs, saddle it up and go for a ride. Get them to walk, trot, canter, gallop, get on and off and return to the tie off area. You should also show up 30 min or so before your appointment so they don’t have a chance to warm it up before your there. You want to get a horse that will be a pleasure to have and work with not a hassle to catch, clean hoofs, have farrier work done etc. You should really find a good beginner horse that won’t become a negative experience. Don’t rush in and get a horse that you already know has problems. You’ll be happy you waited when you find the right horse. That’s my suggestion anyways.
Finally, someone else with true kindness and common sense! Unfortunately, I think they will jump to buy this horse and it will be a huge regret & heartbreak for Lily - imagine having to put your 1st horse down. Your suggestions are so perfect - I too grew up with horses and was so shocked with this whole thing about a sick/lame horse. Glad to see another that sees it with clarity. Peace, Clara
No 12 year old has the ability to have the responsibility of an adult. I remember the mistakes my parents made when I got my first horse at 14. Ended up with a skull fracture. Now, at 73, I have 3 still and the learning was tough.
We have just brought more land so my daughter can do the whole horse thing. Our new boy is lovely! I have heard the list of horse stuff many times from my daughter! All the best for your horse journey, love from NZ
Im excited for Lilly about getting a horse but feel that she needs to be a little older. keep her in lessons and doing shows. Her parents need to learn a lot more about equines. Lilly can’t be the only one messing with the horse parents will need to play a big part of the horse’s care and keeping Lilly safe. If you do get a horse I would also suggest getting a round pen to train/work the horse in.
I do onion and garlic powder with a dehydrator. Just chop your garlic and dehydrate. Then put it in a bullet and powder it. If you have a large amount of garlic, dehydrate and freeze it. Then make the powder when you need it. I do the same with onions. First a chop them in a food processor, then dehydrate. Powder them and you’re set to go. Also, as far as cheese goes - you can easily make delicious mozzarella and queso fresco cheeses, as well as cottage cheese and cream cheese with that wonderful milk you have access to. Cheese is not nearly as difficult as you think. Love what you’re doing with the homestead!
You know he treats all the kids the same. However you have to change things up when you have a child like this. He is not doing him any favors by allowing him to whine and act up when it is time to go do chores. However we don't see everything. @@Peabody53
definitely a sound horse is a safer choice all around ! i’m so excited it’s finally coming together for lily but do not rush the process of purchasing a horse.
It’s one thing to have health issues come up, but it’s a recipe for a lot of unnecessary expenses when you’re starting off with a horse that needs a lot of medical and it’s very expensive
seems like maybe have become too reliant on all the money social media creates for them, keep spending so gotta keep click bait more and more....burning house thumbnail with no house having caught fire? justin doesnt even seem to work the farm anymore, his kids do. its a shame how this channel has regressed to a crap shoot of fringe health directives
ive watched every episode for couple years....but this is just too much, its just greed and now he is deceiving and getting totally away from homesteading....the fake house fire click bait is my last straw. who wants to follow his advice and end up like they are health wise??? anyone???
This was always fake he was never a homesteader he found joel salatins books copied them and resold it as original information to unaware people. He is a grifter plain and simple and now with his view count plummeting he is getting desperate.
Burn out! I can understand that. Wow, Joel Salatin is amazing. I'm glad you got through your overwhelm. Too much all at once and one person down too when Jonah didn't have a hip. I can't wait until you guys are back in the house. Getting a horse is another thing that might take Lily away from the farm chores too. It's good to see you're planting the garlic before the rain. The garlic you grew looks great! I sure hope the 3 day fast helped you. Nice job mulching the planted garlic with hay. I like the stringed garlic on the wire. Lily has done a nice job getting ready for the horse. Pork rinds with spaghetti sauce seems strange but if you like it Justin that is great! Thanks for this video Rhodes family!
The problem with clips is they can be misinterpreted... I respect what Mr Salatin has done and is doing in the homesteading community but I am not a fan of the man. I don't watch all your videos anymore and I am no longer subscribed to your channel. But I do come back once in a while to see how everyone is doing. (You have moved beyond anything I can or am able to do on my little in town property and moving is not an option). Because of this I usually refrain from commenting but I feel the need to address Mr. Salatin's comment. The answer to burnout is... "do more? Your vision isn't big enough?" How was it possible for you to do more at that time or even now. Maybe as you are coming to the end of some of the stressor ie. Jonas' accident, Justin's health difficulties, the house build, kids growing up becoming more responsible (except Mr.Browns boots! They are the most irresponsible boots I have ever seen!!) However a body and mind need rest or they will fail. You need fun or your physical and emotional well-being will suffer. Sometimes a body and mind need to do nothing at all. You cannot continue all you are doing with only your night hours of sleep/rest. I'm not sure I would lose any of that precious sleep over "not doing enough". You are doing plenty and I know even if you are resting, not a thing on your property whether it is gardens, livestock, pets or your family has or ever will suffer for it. Be well from Canada 🇨🇦
Rewind the time clock comment: During the 100 day challenge I remember recommending a full-time farm manager to keep things organized and keep them on plan. Because of trying to build a new house I was concerned about the High carbs and sugar foods that leads to diabetes and the kids and the grown-ups. So those who approve these projects are responsible and will either reap the rewards or not.❤
Your 85% reduction in nutrition from store bought produce is ridiculous. You really need to question that information. I can see the possibility there is a mineral or maybe a vitamin in some individual item that looses that kind of nutrition but I don't need a collage degree to know you are being misled by your interpretation of some research done by someone with a suspicious agenda.
I believe when she reread that part it was referring to some of the mineral content not to the total nutrition. Some people write books to make money and we see a lot of it on this channel
i don't normally say negative stuff but this peeved me off - funny, i didn't see all the dollar signs all over the screen when buying the dirt bike, 4 wheeler, side by side, mini x, trac loader, but all over the place when it comes to lilly's horse.... not cool people.
Answer me this question why doe's everything have to be done to a time schedule 40 mins for this 1hr for that when farming it takes as long as it takes
Busy - Busy - Busy! No wonder y'all feel burned out. Hope free time mysteriously appears to lessen the necessary stresses. Blessings on each of you. : )
Dear Mr. Rhodes and Mrs. Rhodes, I believe in the dreams of your daughter Lily. I am a trained Olympic rider, now retired. I saw your video where she has an equine wish list. I have several saddles etc which would fit her needs. I kept them for my granddaughter who has now outgrown them. I am on OAS, but, I thought I would offer some items to you, for her, at no cost, except shipping and insurance. I am in Kingston, Ontario. If you have any interest, please reply to me. Best Regards. Jeanne Cooke.
Justin & Rebecca why would you buy a sick lame horse for Lily. The owner wants to sell... I grew up on horses and you are really making a big mistake. The first people Passed....wonder why??? Of course they passed, dont be in a rush to buy a lame sick horse. That will break Lily's heart if her 1st horse has to be put down. Slow down on the sudden must buy a horse....if you think the remodel cost....that sick horse is going to cost loads. Peace
Even God rested after building our world. Time off is need by every one and it is good to rest our land every seven years. The best thing you can give yourself and your family is time to just CHILL. Don't you love that we have winter every year and life just slows down. God bless y'all and keep growing (after your nap!).
It’s pretty amazing to me how people are able to find a negative perspective on almost everything you do. The judgement and nitpicking is pretty wild. I just want to say Thank you Justin, for what you’re doing to help show that this honorable lifestyle can actually be done. God bless you bro. 🤝
Stress makes people sick! Why isn’t a bit of rest and relaxation on the medical list? Sleep in one day. Chill on the couch for an hour. Sit and enjoy a drink on the porch. Have a quick siesta. Stop popping pills and going insane measuring every sugar level. Take it a bit easier. I’m sure your wife will help out a bit more around the farm for an hour or two? Even your kids are burnt out and continuously sick. Not healthy obviously.
I live in the suburbs in Glen Allen, Richmond & started with one raised bed mainly to hide a tree stump that i needed to grind down, but thought save the money & build a raised bed around it. I have increased the raised beds to 12 raised beds in my back yard, all 8feet x 4 feet. Growing onions, vertical growing of cucumbers, butternut squash & green beans, peppers, tomatoes. also have garlic, strawberries & greens in an area of the garden that no one went to as it is too hot in the summer. This area has given me so much food. You will love growing your own food. I know I love it!
I know of two stores that publicly forbid produce with apeel to be bought or sold in their stores. Publix and Natural Grocers. I remember when our daughter got her first horse. So worth it! I hope things work out for Lily.
Awe , Lilly gets a horse . I am so happy for her. She deserves this . She’s a very remarkable young girl, she has many talents. Buy her a healthy good natured horse . Congratulations Lilly. Love you guys so awesome. Happy Holidays
Please note that what I say is with care and concern. It's been a long time criticism of mine that you guys don't really take care of yourself. You think if you just add this step or cut out that food group you'll be fine. You jump from one thing to another to try to figure it out. But it won't fix things. It might be a good bandaid for a little while. I saw this coming from a mile away. I remember when you turned commenting off when you were going through the reactive RA thing and thought the same thing. You figured it out eventually. But it seems you've forgotten. When your son dislocated his hip his orders were to rest. Yes, he needed to do his PT and all that...but he also needed to listen to his body and rest. He was not to push himself or he could have made himself worse. You don't do that. You want to go go go. You might get your sleep in, but sleep isn't the same as rest. That's why you're burned out. If I could recommend anything it would be to take a couple weeks off from TH-cam and business stuff, and do the bare minimum for chores yeah you still have to go move the cows or whatever, but hold on some projects. And it's a good way to teach your children how to listen to their bodies as well.
Agree. And kids that age shouldn’t be suffering that much stress that they’re continuously sick either. Something seriously wrong with this work balance.
I was just like her as a kid when I started with horses. I’ve yet to get my own horse but I went to college and got an equine degree (getting to take classes where I ride for credit plus a ton extra) and now work at a horse farm so I am riding them and taking care of many daily.
Any guesses on the number of "oh no poor us have horse health issues" videoes grt posted? Het a healthy horse he cant make as much money with click bait.
Justin you are the luckiest man alive. But you have alot of stress right now. I heartily suggest the book, "When the body says no", because your body is saying no.
First thing I did before was look up that device and it's charges. When I saw it was a monthly membership thing, I immediately forgot about the entire idea forever.
We were lucky to have healthy, sound, young horses, but the maintenance, tack, trailer (I switched to a stock trailer after a young horse got herself upside down in a 2 horse trailer), best investment ever! Anyway, even a sound horse will find trouble, inspect every inch of your property thinking about how a horse could injure itself, ours was running in the field and impaled her shoulder on a young sapling that had broken off, yeah vet bills, farrier bills, tack, hay, supplements, still, I believe it turned my daughters young life around. We found her a mentor our vet respected and she worked, learned and eventually went on to giving lessons, clinics, and cattle drives.
Gardner’s rule only grow what u like to eat. I love my own garlic. I eat it daily sometimes twice a day. My fav garlic condiment is garlic miso hot sauce...
I would not advise him to buy a horse from a livestock auction. They are not experienced in horses at all. They need to take their time and do some research or they’re gonna be sorry. My family has been through this. The right horse will come along in the meantime they need to do some major research and talk to many other horse people not just the ones that are trying to sell you a horse with a bad hock. Auctions are notorious for having animals that people dope up just long enough to get them sold.
Henry would be enough to cause anyone to be burntout and still pulling on his mom's boob. Then there's Gideon still doing absolutely nothing at least on video.
I hate to say it but when l see him l think "spoiled" l don't really like the footage of him the other kids all seem respectful of the parents but he is the baby after all
No doubt, if I would have whined like that…… I mean I would never whine like that because the first couple of times didn’t work out well for me. My dad would never tolerate whining or back talking he would have instantly made your situation a whole lot worse than whatever you had thought was worth squawking about.
Johnas driving position needs tweeking. Either a cushion or the seat moving up and forward. He will feel more comfortable and he will he will relax a bit more. He is too low.
I honestly wouldn’t just go out and buy a saddle from a wholesaler your best to get a saddle fitter come out and assess your horse and measure it so that the saddle fits comfortably for you and the horse on its back so that it doesn’t end up with saddle sores or pressure points I’ve worked on many of equestrian centres, stud yards and show jumping yards etc and every single 1 gets a saddle fitter to come out and measure the horse and then go off and make the saddle themselves will save you so much money in saddles rather than shopping around for a saddle that fits and for its purpose as you get dressage saddles and show jumping saddles and you also get trekking/hacking saddles Also I would normally not recommend getting a horse with leg issues as they get lame easily especially if you are using them for show jumping however I see from instagram you have already gotten the pony
You can do chicken skins too. And ferment garlic if for whatever reason you are not going to get through your garlic in time and you don't have a freeze drier in time peal it put it in a jar with salt water put a lid on leave it be a few days transfer to cold storage. Warning at a certain ph garlic turns blue. When I was trying gaps I would add a little brine to my soups as my probiotic and my added garlic. What is 20% of the effort with 80% of the result. I think apples are great I have heard that in they don't thrive in the south they need drier summers peaches do better they are a bit more fus at harvest. And for perserving. I also really encourage you guys to use all those woods to grow mushrooms people adjusted their diet based on what grew in their area growing culinary and functional mushrooms it will be really nice when you can trade up some of your supplements. I am so happy you are ditching the grocery store and eating more seasonal and local.
When I was younger I wanted a horse I was told NO by family members. So I took riding lessons, did volunteere work at a horse rescue ...went to my friends horses shows got great hands on experience with horses. My favorite horse is a mustang. But could never afford to get a horse myself. For a saddle it's like $550 plus. A horse cost as much as a vehicle Feed and equipment.. Veterinarian care Riding lessons Shows fees Clothes and helmet.. Ect... I bet it's going to cost around $35,000 Lily wants something that she can ride and not worried about horse injuries yet. How old is the horse ? The way Justin's talking about the horse that they don't even have yet sounds like he's going to seriously regret it in the long run and eventually give the horse away. Because it won't be a good investment Most likely she'll be spending her time with a horse more than her other farm chores . Justin will get frustrated and threatened to get rid of the horse if she doesn't start taking more responsibility on the farm. I see this exploding in Lily's face big time.😢 Good luck.
That was the biggest non answer from Joel of all time =)) How is that supposed to be any bit useful? LOL. As usual with him, its all about something that sounds good, but doesn't address the real problem, and just isn't very realistic...
You are talking about burnout from adding too many things at once AND talking about adding a horse. Maybe wait until you are back in your house before you add a completely different type of animal. I didnt see Lily really take on the rabbit breeding...is she ready for a bigger critter?
You need to take it easy because you always do a lot of projects at the same time and the stress is piling up. Perhaps the house renovation and the horse could wait another year while you focus on the farm side. Perhaps is easy to talk in the comments about your situation but a stress is dangerous and your health takes a toll. Have a nice day Justin.
You want to keep Celery from getting too much sunlight. I know sounds backswords. Commercial growers will either cover it with shade cloth or actually put boxes around each plant(called blanching). The chlorophyll in the green color makes it strong.
Arun went back to India and stayed for a while because his mother was very sick. Then came back to the states and stayed with his brother for a bit. Arun is now in NC with his family and has a cooking channel on TH-cam (Arun Kumar).
Mr. Brown Don't papa at all Just put on your yellow boats. If you don't want to put on your yellow boats at all them make sure your other boats are put away all the time. So you always have them.
I wait until I’m getting ready to plant my garlic for next year. Anything that I don’t plant I peel, slice, and put in my regular dehydrator. Once it’s dry, I put it into my VitaMix. Voila - garlic powder, no freeze dryer necessary.
Celery is supposed to be buried or put sun reflective covered as it grows it keeps its soft stalk or stems and if you need it green a bit uncover it as you need the celery.
Good horse welfare is giving it a buddy. They are pack animals and need a horse-companion 100% of the time always. As someone who’s been a horse girl for over half her life.
I was sad to see the whole family at the uppity Biltmore horse show. Too bad everyone has blindly jumped onboard and already influenced poor Lilly with fancy, lofty expectations. Been there, done that a lifetime ago and it's a real $$$$$ trap for most riders and families. Eventually you can't possibly compete with the rich kids who ride $100,000. and up, highly bred, expertly trained, push button ponies and horses that anyone who can stay in a saddle will win on. It's a fashion show for the upper crust and a club you don't want to be in. It teaches good children to have a competitive nature based on envy and lack of self worth. Stick with riding with good local friends, enjoy your years of real horsemanship and don't get sucked into the whole horse show world. Don't take lessons from someone who pushes horse shows...it's just a money making business move for them. The very best riders aren't found at horse shows and they don't need blue ribbons to rate their value as a kind, caring, skilled and experienced equestrians.
Hey Rebecca 😊 I use to drive semi for a family who has Weyawega Star dairy in Weyawega, wi. And they make parm wheels that are dipped in wax. Have you thought of buying a wheel to have on hand for grating etc. Just keep refrigerated

maybe he could be a companion horse for the horse she gets for showing and long-term riding...?
I would recommend talking with her riding instructor and having her help you guys pick out a horse if you haven’t already. 😊 Also ask about a free lease to test the horse out before you make a solid purchase.
“I’m probably screwed” 😂 👏 that made me laugh out loud, thank you for that 😊
👌🏼 comedic timing 😂
Lily is earning the adult responsibility of her future. U go girl
No 12 year old has the ability to have the responsibility of an adult. I remember the mistakes my parents made when I got my first horse at 14. Ended up with a skull fracture. Now, at 73, I have 3 still and the learning was tough.
And look what happened when they gave the boys a dirt bike.
We have just brought more land so my daughter can do the whole horse thing. Our new boy is lovely! I have heard the list of horse stuff many times from my daughter! All the best for your horse journey, love from NZ
Not cool on picture of house on fire. My heart sank when I saw it.
Agreed. Her rabbits weren’t part of the farm plan and fell to the wayside. 😢
Put Mr. Brown in charge of the shoes for the whole family. Give him ownership .🤞🏻
I can already see everyone walking barefoot 😂😅
😂
Mr. Brown is too old to whine about his boots
You forgot worshipping Joel
Lilly is gonna be a great horse owner!
They are the most irresponsible boots I have ever seen!!)
However a body and mind need rest or they will fail.
Choice of thumbnail is extremely poor taste. Shame.
Rewind the time clock comment:
During the 100 day challenge I remember recommending a full-time farm manager to keep things organized and keep them on plan.
Because of trying to build a new house I was concerned about the High carbs and sugar foods that leads to diabetes and the kids and the grown-ups.
So those who approve these projects are responsible and will either reap the rewards or not.❤
You’re burned out because Henry has you on a short leash. 😂
The kid is a monster now, he's only going to get worse if they don't have a way to correct him NOW, TODAY.
and Mt B needs discipline also
The mother is lazy and just gives into the child to keep it quite @@jimpokorny4598
I am so very happy you were finally buying a horse For Lilly. She is such a responsible and hard-working young lady she deserves it.
His wife confuses opinions for peer reviewed studies
i don't normally say negative stuff but this peeved me off - funny, i didn't see all the dollar signs all over the screen when buying the dirt bike, 4 wheeler, side by side, mini x, trac loader, but all over the place when it comes to lilly's horse....
not cool people.
Most, if not all, of the machines are used to work the farm and do not require d
Sorry, the machines don't require daily care that a living creature requires.
Please don't buy that horse. You're only asking for trouble and spend alot of $$$.
It a wonder the man hasn’t collapsed ….farmer ..father ..mother ..cook ..cleaner ..never ends ..the man Is a machine
Answer me this question why doe's everything have to be done to a time schedule 40 mins for this 1hr for that when farming it takes as long as it takes
@@chrisc3197I wondered the same thing ..I think they like to eat right on specific times
Don't worry mr. Salatin has all the answers for him.
@@chrisc3197 time blocking ensures he stays on track. If there was no set parameter they wouldn’t get as much done. It’s easy to let time get away.
People have no idea how much money a horse costs! Big bucks with very little return!
Busy - Busy - Busy! No wonder y'all feel burned out. Hope free time mysteriously appears to lessen the necessary stresses. Blessings on each of you. : )
If he doesn’t want to wear his yellow boots he needs to keep track of his preferred boots……😂
Justin, I’m just curious, do you delete a comments that you don’t like?
Measure insulin to glucose?
You see the kids and Becca taking breaks all the time.Justin needs those too
I live in the suburbs in Glen Allen, Richmond & started with one raised bed mainly to hide a tree stump that i needed to grind down, but thought save the money & build a raised bed around it.
I absolutely love when you share a glimpse into your life everyday!!!! Thank you for what you do
Lily is so excited how sweet is that!
Expect a lot more advertisements on the channel to pay for it!
Awww horse plans are exciting! My first job was working with horses, so I loved hearing Lily's list and seeing the horse's stall.
Lilly deserves a sweet, healthy, well trained horse ❤! ! !
Hi.... Justin Rhodes and Rebecca thanks 😊 you for showing your video homestead chicken duck goose farmer garden 🐔🐓🐣🐤🍗🦆🐶🐕🦮🐈🐑🐄🐖🐷🐝 BYE 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
Lily is so excited. Well done Lily. You're a hard worker.
I was just thinking… stress, all by itself can cause lots of health problems. Maybe your problem isn’t so much diet as it is stress.
So Happy for Lilly….❤❤❤❤ She so deserves it….
I don’t think you need a freeze dryer for garlic and onion powder. I think a dehydrator and blender is sufficient.
But it's good for every other produce and dishes.
Oddly enough I needed to hear this.
It time to tell that boy you lose your shoes you go bare foot how old is he grow up
We were lucky to have healthy, sound, young horses, but the maintenance, tack, trailer (I switched to a stock trailer after a young horse got herself upside down in a 2 horse trailer), best investment ever!
Horses, sort of like turkeys, will find any way they can to injure themselves. Good advice.
Do NOT get that horse. Only 8 and already leg problems? Nope, nope!
Love how Josiah looks at Henry💗
I have not watched it in a long time. Everyone is growing up. Now Mr. Brown has made a brand out of being one boot missing.
Omg I needed this video so bad
There is never enough time and the time spare we do have goes to the farm regardless.
Gardner’s rule only grow what u like to eat. I love my own garlic. I eat it daily sometimes twice a day. My fav garlic condiment is garlic miso hot sauce...
Fun family activity: Go look at horses at a livestock auction. Save one from possible destruction! They have vets there.
Don’t get that horse. These problems will get worse and it will add additional care chores and vet expenses.
I honestly wouldn’t just go out and buy a saddle from a wholesaler your best to get a saddle fitter come out and assess your horse and measure it so that the saddle fits comfortably for you and the horse on its back so that it doesn’t end up with saddle sores or pressure points
I’ve worked on many of equestrian centres, stud yards and show jumping yards etc and every single 1 gets a saddle fitter to come out and measure the horse and then go off and make the saddle themselves will save you so much money in saddles rather than shopping around for a saddle that fits and for its purpose as you get dressage saddles and show jumping saddles and you also get trekking/hacking saddles
Also I would normally not recommend getting a horse with leg issues as they get lame easily especially if you are using them for show jumping however I see from instagram you have already gotten the pony
A horse cost as much as a vehicle
Feed and equipment..
Veterinarian care
Riding lessons
Shows fees
Clothes and helmet..
Ect...
I bet it's going to cost around $35,000
Lily wants something that she can ride and not worried about horse injuries yet.
How old is the horse ?
The way Justin's talking about the horse that they don't even have yet sounds like he's going to seriously regret it in the long run and eventually give the horse away.
Because it won't be a good investment
Most likely she'll be spending her time with a horse more than her other farm chores .
Justin will get frustrated and threatened to get rid of the horse if she doesn't start taking more responsibility on the farm.
I see this exploding in Lily's face big time.😢
Good luck.
That should cause you to wonder about the horses health if the first buyer passed!!
If it's not easy it's not God's plan. Pass on this one Lily. God is trying to put obstacles in your way because he's got bigger plans. 😊
I'm so excited for Lily and to follow along on the adventure of her first horse ownership x
I just love you guys so much, thanks for sharing your family with the world :)
Each time Justine says the Joel Salatin’s name I expect to hear a choir of Angels singing in the background.
Judt clickbait.
I know, right
Gotta keep that money rolling tho....if things are going smooth and well, the clicks slow...drama sells
What does he do besides the videos? You can tell by how many times his kids correct him they do all the work
I had the same feeling they won't stay and when the oldest is driving he looks like something is wrong with his posture
Well. She is making a plan for the horses! I loved the might as well get it because we’re there!❤
Expect more advertisements on the channel to pay for it! Horses aren't cheap!
Stress is a slow killer. Sometimes it's fast.
God bless you all , and thanks for sharing
You dont need food freeze dryer to make onoin and garlic powder just use your dehydrator then use mortor and pestal or food processor
the cha ching noise had me laughing pretty good as shes going through her list.
You want to keep Celery from getting too much sunlight. I know sounds backswords. Commercial growers will either cover it with shade cloth or actually put boxes around each plant(called blanching). The chlorophyll in the green color makes it strong.
There are self blanching verities too.
@@CMiltonDixon that’s good to know and to look for. I love drying celery leaves to make my own celery salt.
What about Arun ? He was so helpful. Bring his family back to the farm. They are such hard workers. Would be most helpful.
I believe Arun moved back to his home country.
Good question
I never did know what happened. Can anybody fill me in?
Arun went back to India and stayed for a while because his mother was very sick. Then came back to the states and stayed with his brother for a bit. Arun is now in NC with his family and has a cooking channel on TH-cam (Arun Kumar).
Don’t eat what you grow. Grow what you want to eat! 👍
Glad ya'll had a house to es ape to.
Mr. Brown Don't papa at all Just put on your yellow boats. If you don't want to put on your yellow boats at all them make sure your other boats are put away all the time. So you always have them.
See if you can find a tack consignment shop near you! It will save you tons of money on all of the horse paraphernalia!
And good luck!!!
I wait until I’m getting ready to plant my garlic for next year. Anything that I don’t plant I peel, slice, and put in my regular dehydrator. Once it’s dry, I put it into my VitaMix. Voila - garlic powder, no freeze dryer necessary.
So excited for Lily!
I agree so much to that. Horses naturally live in a herd. They should always be with other horses.
Hey, onions in a freeze dryer make it difficult to clean. Consider doing that in a dehydrator.
