black cats are considered good luck in some countries ... we had a splendid one for 17 years ... not ALL black ... about three white hairs if you fluffed up her under chin fur ...
What a love!! Romeo is the right name for him. I can't believe how quickly he adapted! He's just so cute. I'm so glad he has a loving home, and hope this one is forever. ❤
Beautiful cat. Make him an indoor cat he will live a lot longer and especially don't let him out before Halloween! Too dangerous! He would love a high cat tree next to the window to watch birds and squirrels. You could also enclose the balcony to make a catio which would make him really happy if he could have fresh air too. Mine will have a garden catio soon. How about some fluffy toys? He's very scared which is normal so plenty of water bowls as he will have a dry mouth from the stress of being moved. Strictly keep inside for at least a month, vets say 6 wks. He's still young, train him to walk on a leash he will love you for it! There's plenty of You Tube tutorials on how to train them to do it
How precious! I once adopted a one year old black cat and he was my absolute joy and a delightful, funny, and smart companion for 16 wonderful years. I’m so happy to hear how well Romeo is still doing with your family. A cat is such a wonderful pet!
I moved all over the United States with my cat. She adapted beautifully. There must have been some other circumstances for the former owners. However, that was such good luck for you and your family. He has beautiful green eyes! He is a sweetie. Congratulations !
Hey there, just passing through and stumbled on this. Gorgeous kitty! However, I am going to echo what a few have already said, and provide some additional information that I hope you'll consider. A lot of people say to keep your cat indoors, and there are some very good reasons for this. The first and foremost are things like parasites, ticks, worms, fleas, all kinds of things but the worst are the heart worms. Nearly impossible to detect, and when it is discovered. it is too late. They are exactly what they sound like, btw. And they can get it just by being in contact with faeces of other animals. If a dog with heart worms poops on the sidewalk, and even if the owner cleans it up, there are still particles on the ground that the cat will then tread over. And as cats do, eventually lick its feet, ingesting the heart worm eggs. There's also things like FiV (Cat HIV) that can infect a cat from a bite from another cat. Also Feline leukemia, etc. Illnesses and parasites aside, while the UK has far less predators than the States do, there are still stray dogs to consider, as well as cars, and absolute trash people who like to harm black cats specifically. In the US, it is a requirement for adoption of all cats from shelters, to sign a document saying that you will keep the cat indoors because we have things like, at least in my neighborhood in the SF Bay Area: Coyotes, Cougars, possums, and raccoons, all of whom regularly eat outdoors cats. I've seen the remnants far far too many times - usually all that's left are a few tufts of fur, some intestine, and a leg or two. Last, but not least: Native Birds. I love cats, i really do, but they are genocidal little maniacs when it comes to birds and rodents. Even a cat that "is not a hunter" will go after a bird because, hey it's a flying outside toy! And they may not know how to kill the bird cleanly, so it dies a very very slow death. Outdoor Cats are, also, unfortunately, the reason that 33 species of birds have gone extinct in the last few years. Current estimates is that they kill around 1.4 - 4 Billion birds a year. It's caused a lot of issues with migratory bird flight paths, as well as prevents some vegetation from being able to propagate as birds frequently help spread their seeds either through eating the fruit, or directly carrying pollen on their feathers. Anyways, I hope you'll consider this. Cats can and will live a very happy life being indoors only - my last cat lived to the ripe old age of 21 and was predominantly indoors only (she had the ability to go outside for the first 4 years, but after and incident with a neighbor poisoning her, I made the change for fully indoors.) But, as I said before, I'm just a passer by. I wish you, and Romeo the best. Cheers.
Thank you soo much for this, I can see the time and effort you put in. This has given me a big insight into the world of cats and I'm sure will go onto help others too!
@@TobyWoodPhoto Hey no problem! Thank you for listening :) And also, as i forgot to say so in the original post - Thank you for adopting an adult black cat. He really truly seems like an absolute sweetie.

You've adopted a beautiful Bombay cat; all-black (even under his paws, etc.). Mine just passed away last month at almost 17 years old. They are extremely affectionate as a breed, will follow you around the house, and are almost like small dogs. I would recommend getting him another cat to keep him company if you are out of the house a lot as a family -- they don't like to be left alone. Cherish the years you have with Romeo. My Ringo was the best animal companion I've ever had.
That is sad. I could NEVER leave my pets behind. I have moved to many places and had to sacrifice a bit but I never sacrificed my cats. Thank you for giving him a loving home. ❤ Yes a few suggestions, don’t place the food next to the litter box 🤢 place the food on top of a rubber mat, this way if the cat does spill some water it would be okay, Also dedicate one bowl for dry food, one for wet canned food and one for water. All plates must be either metal or ceramic. Plastic harbors bacteria and cats get chin acne. You had the right idea to keep the cat in one room only in the house so the kitty can acclimate to the new environment, sounds, smells. I would also provide a window perch. ❤lovely kitty 🐈⬛

something I just learnt recently is that cats don't like their water by their food, and not by their litter box. I tried it with my cat. put water on another wall and she drank that but never when I put it beside the food. Hmm. It's nice you adopted Romeo, he looks a lot like my Jazz....meow. 🐈⬛🖤🖤

If your cat ever has hot ears, check if they have a rumbling stomach. I've always found this to be the case. A gentle tummy massage usually results in a happy burp (or the alternative) and the ears soon go cool again. Works with humans too! Cheers.
@@TobyWoodPhoto - lots of cat videos on You Tube to keep him entertained. My Cat likes the string ones - the realistic mouse and the bird feeding table. Problem now is - I can't watch my YT favourites anymore :)
Òne trait in cats I've noticed is they like their noses stroked. And they like nose bumps. Each CAT is so unique and lovable in their own way. He is beautiful. Give him a brushing at least once a week. So plan on him getting used to it with a treat when finished. His hair will shed more and even get knots if not brushed. Have fun.and he will bring joy to your family.
Such a wonderful welcoming. Romeo fit right in. Not a cat ower, but I would comb Romeo every day making it fun and pleasureable for him like a massage. And get used to daily hoovering and sweeping. The less hair, the happier you will be. Good thing there are four of you to clean up. I hope you enjoy living in Romeo's new home.
Thank you for adopting him. Black cats are the most overlooked (the Siamese mix in my pp was a feral kitten who found our house) I know Halloween isn't as big in the UK but here in the States, Romeo would be the ultimate Halloween black kitty!
What a beautiful kitty.Just come across your channel mate, amazed how quickly Romeo settled in.Ive subbed and I'm now going to start watching your vids of Romeos' progress. Great to see a black older cat adopted.🙂
He's beautiful.. I have two black ones-- one is 6 on Thanksgiving and the other is a little over 1.. and I have a sTriped Tabby (the older black ones real brother) and he's BOSS!!! :)
He's so handsome! Please don''t let him outside. Cats who are exclusively indoors live much longer than indoor/outdoor cats. there are so many dangers outside. I have 3 cats who have never been outside and they are perfectly happy.
Outside cats also endanger the ecosystem when they hunt for birds and other small animals. Absolutely not a good idea to let them out. It's better to let them out in a safe zone, like the cat-safe garden, if you really wanna let them out.
He’s gorgeous but then I’m very partial to black 🐈⬛❤❤❤❤❤❤ Romeo is not only very affectionate, he’s very smart! He will enjoy being brushed because he’s a long hair. That way he’ll have fewer hairballs. But you probably already figured that out.😂
Please just be careful with sweet Romeo if you do let him leave the house to hang in your back garden. Just like a child, he will need supervision to assure his safety. 🙏😊❤
When we first let him out he was very sweet and as you said we gave him plenty of supervision and encouragement. He loves bounding about the garden now chasing us and toys!
@@TobyWoodPhoto = Mine goes outside as well. She hangs out in the yard only. She is always in at night and she doesn't like rain. So where I live it rains a lot, so she's more of an inside cat by choice, at this stage of her life.
He's not the neediest cat I've ever seen - my brother had a black female cat and she wanted you to pet her with both hands all the time. If you weren't using both hands she'd put her hear under the free hand.
No, it wasn't a requirement. When we adopted him we were told he wasn't a hunter and enjoyed being indoors. We could have kept him as an indoor cat but decided it was only fair to let him roam. We have no cat flap and just let him in and out through a door. I guess it all depends where you adopt from but having an indoor cat is possible when adopting. Hope this helps :)

Best wishes to all of you, it’s going to be so much fun!
Oooo haven't tried that one, thanks!
Yeah ❤
such a beautiful cat
You are now owned by Romeo 😂
Such a wonderful welcoming. Romeo fit right in. Not a cat ower, but I would comb Romeo every day making it fun and pleasureable for him like a massage. And get used to daily hoovering and sweeping. The less hair, the happier you will be. Good thing there are four of you to clean up. I hope you enjoy living in Romeo's new home.
I have a black cat too and they are awesome. He has a great personality
Except when it’s time for a nail clipping 😂😂
Thank you for adopting him. Black cats are the most overlooked (the Siamese mix in my pp was a feral kitten who found our house) I know Halloween isn't as big in the UK but here in the States, Romeo would be the ultimate Halloween black kitty!
What a beautiful kitty.Just come across your channel mate, amazed how quickly Romeo settled in.Ive subbed and I'm now going to start watching your vids of Romeos' progress. Great to see a black older cat adopted.🙂
CONGRATS
😊
Handsome cat.
I got a cat last week, hes not come out of huding yet, eats at night. Im conerned he wont settle.
Give him time, they are very adaptive creatures and sweet at heart 😻
God bless you!!!!
Man, take care of the black mold next to the balcony/garden door. Thats not safe.
He's beautiful.. I have two black ones-- one is 6 on Thanksgiving and the other is a little over 1.. and I have a sTriped Tabby (the older black ones real brother) and he's BOSS!!! :)
Oh Romeo, Oh Romeo
You are one handsome 💞 fellow 😁🩷🐾🐾
He's so handsome! Please don''t let him outside. Cats who are exclusively indoors live much longer than indoor/outdoor cats. there are so many dangers outside. I have 3 cats who have never been outside and they are perfectly happy.
Thats very good to know thank you!
Most vets agree that keeping cats inside give them about 8-10 yrs extra lifespan.
Outside cats also endanger the ecosystem when they hunt for birds and other small animals. Absolutely not a good idea to let them out. It's better to let them out in a safe zone, like the cat-safe garden, if you really wanna let them out.
I'm a year late, how is fur baby doing?
Have you tripped over it yet, hope you have
Need to get one more cat
Is 2 the lucky number?
He’s gorgeous but then I’m very partial to black 🐈⬛❤❤❤❤❤❤ Romeo is not only very affectionate, he’s very smart! He will enjoy being brushed because he’s a long hair. That way he’ll have fewer hairballs. But you probably already figured that out.😂
Beautiful
Get a good brush or glove for hair removal. It helps a lot for my cats, and they love the massage of the combing too,
Please just be careful with sweet Romeo if you do let him leave the house to hang in your back garden.
He, baby, not, it! He is beautiful!
He's not the neediest cat I've ever seen - my brother had a black female cat and she wanted you to pet her with both hands all the time. If you weren't using both hands she'd put her hear under the free hand.
Did you have to give cat outdoor access for adoption? I would love to adopt but no outdoor access…
🐱🐾🐾 afternoon all 🐱 to bad I didn't see this a few days sooner😺 NBC Four in New York is a Sponsor of clear the Shelter on the days having it🐱😺 they drop the fees to adopt I didn't wait because I wanted I cat for Lovejoy miss his big brother that pass so quickly 😺🐾🐾 🐾🐾🐱
Wow lucky. We had a cat that only got close at feeding time. Even then it said no touching me.
You sound and come across as a professional broadcaster. :)
Thank you, that's very encouraging!
Congratulations, You got yourself a cat...
