I remember watching this video on Pop Up Video when I was a kid. It was year or two after this video came out, but I ended up loving both the video and the song itself. In fact, I was watching the video over weekend when I was looking for the video from that one song from Napolion Dynamite.

I would have loved this song even without the video - but the video had me running out to but the CD. Quality.
And, Street Spirit, too? That’s a great director.
Great video! Really interesting and well-researched.

The director later made Under the Skin starring Scarlett Johansson. Heard its good.

@@ItsMusicVideoTime Huh. I’ll check it out. If it’s that album with Pete Yorn, a great video might have helped. ;)

happy to find your channel today! great video, jami is one of my fav bands of all time and this tune was the gateway drug. my friend had a Yamaha keyboard in the early 00s that had a demo simply called "virtual", and so it begun.

The moving set idea reminds me of earthquake simulators. They are rooms that move due to hydralics to simulate an earthquake. These rooms can be controlled to move randomly or in certain ways.

Everything came together at the right time for Jamiroquai and the Virtual Insanity video - the band had already released two very good albums, so the award winning VI video just shot them to another level - many people still consider this as one of the greatest music videos of all time

11:24 "Especially with the cloning thing" was referencing the cloning of a sheep named Dolly in 1996 by researchers at the Roslin Institute in Scotland. This was a BIG deal back when it happened.

Not gonna lie! "Virtual Inasnity" is on GOD tier for me! The irony is real and the MV is absolutely ingenious, even for today's standards.

I still don't know how some of the furniture moved while others were fixed in place.

He has a speech impediment. You can hear it in other words with R in the middle.

Rn I feel like when Billy Madison says "T-tu-tuh-taday junior" and ms Vaughn drags him out of the class by his ear saying "making fun of a little kid for trying to read, are you psycho, do you not have a soul??"

Virtual Insanity is the ONLY good music video from 1997. The other videos are so lame.

I'm not gunna lie I thought the same and someone made a comment like this one and I felt shame once I read the reply...dude has a speech impediment and you can hear it in other words with r in the middle...I know, I felt like a jerk

Don't feel like a jerk. I've lived with my speech impediment all my life so I try my best to enunciate, which doesn't always work out.

@@ItsMusicVideoTime I appreciate you saying that I shouldn't feel like a jersey but I'm ashamed that I took the time to join in on someone's comment similar to this. I legit thought you didn't know how to say the artist name because you are probably too young to have even watched the virtual insanity video on mtv unlike my old sss who was a Senior in hs when that came out. I wouldn't have guessed you had a speech impediment because I didn't heat it AT ALL other than when you said jamiroquai leading me to think you didn't know his name. One of your loyal subs took the time to stand up for you and correct my assumption. ...leading me to feeling like a jerk. I appreciate you and I apologize for acting like a senior in hs. ✌️👍🫶

Does the narrator completely mispronounce 'Jamiroquai' every single time he says it?! 😂

Having a speech impediment will have that happen.
