You are the man. Im inspired by your hunting & collecting. I stopped buying in like 1996 but i still got most of my books that go back to 1979. I feel like reading again :)
Very refreshing to see another Green Lantern collector! All you ever see are videos on Xmen or Spider-Man! I have been collecting Green Lantern since 1978!
@@MintHunterComics I just read Blackest Night from my local library and MY GOODNESS is it good!!! Easily one of the very best comics I’ve ever read. I wish more comics would be like it.😢
I'm in the uk and comic shops as I knew them seem to be on the whole a thing of the past. We still have them but i don't know anywhere local with back issues. What we have mainly is media shops with a wall of new stuff, a good collection of graphic novels, some manga and a lot of multi media merchandise, shirts figures light sabres that kind of thing.
POINT FOR SPECULATORS: Remember, we too define what is hot in choosing the comics we like. In that store were they did not have too much in terms of key issues, I would imagine there were probably a reasonable number of issues which you might simply have liked. When we just buy some issues which we like a bit, gradually these become in demand issues, as supply dwindles, and price rises. Weird, but we all should do our bit to push up values for the whole of pannapictagraphia.
@@MintHunterComics btw - with print runs under 30,000 - if you buy 10 issues, this has a small percentage impact on the comic's value. With miniscule print runs around 3,000, if you buy 100 issues slowly, it can really increase in value. We can literally make a comic rise in value personally for the small fries.
Awesome finds, love the GL books. I've been trying to fill in my GL collection for a few years now as well. Very jealous of the first appearance of Tera find for so cheap, I've been looking for that one myself lately. I also love the Brian Bolland covers, his art is amazing. I got a chance to meet him in Toronto at a Con and he signed my Killing Joke poster. He said I was the only one all weekend to bring the poster and not the book. Lol Great show as always. 👍
Cyborg1 was my LCS as a kid in the original location on Main. And I got my UF4, Batman Adventures 12, and Star Wars 2 at Phantasm just in 2018. Great shops! Thanks for the vid.
Hello. I was going to get that same kind of mask. Also I might get some orange cat socks too. I used to have an orange kitten named Garfield. Take care.
Oh I’ve definitely ran into a few stores that don’t haggle. I agree it does take some of the fun out of it. Emerald city comics in Clearwater Florida would not budge from their Overstreet price guide pricing.
See thats odd to me, I really think haggling is a part of the comic culture and I love it! There's no better feeling than getting a sweet deal below price guide
The Micronauts, is there one in particular that is worth grabbing? I found some at my local Flea market and didnt think much of them other than having cool covers.
Awesome content, just subbed. Currently in Boston but in Philly regularly as I have lots of family there. I've been to a lot of those shops, and I remember Brave New Worlds being great, as well as Golden Nugget Flea (which I've only been to during the summer). Great video and go birds.
Great video. I was at Zapp with you. I was the guy standing in your way and didn't realize you were waiting behind me to look in some boxes. Sorry about that. Zapp is my favorite store. You got some great books!
You were quiet and I had no idea you were behind me. I heard you tell the guy at the counter you were hitting 7 stores that day and when I saw the video title couldn't believe it. That's a lot of stores in one day! Thanks for the review on those shops. There are several I haven't been to. So, I'm now subscribed to your channel. Thanks!
Imagine buying comics because you love them, or not having to think about 'keys', CGC, or the actual subjective worth as opposed to market value....just appreciation for what it is. Imagine not slabbing a comic that just came off the press. It's just a repeat of the early 90s all over again sadly. The emperor's new clothes.
That's exactly what I did buying all these green lanterns. More than half aren't keys but childhood grails that I read a million times and fell in love with and wanted to own again !
Starting around 9:30 its pretty clear this guy is a fan and appreciates all this stuff for what it is and does indeed love comics. Thanks for the video, Mint Hunter!
Wow, there's so many comic shops in the PA/NJ region near you. That alone is quite impressive, especially since I keep hearing that comic book stores and collecting is a dying hobby. Also, nice channel I've binged a bunch of your videos.
Awesome finds man. I've found an X-men 221 and an X-men 4 (Omega Red) for $5 each not to long ago. Just got them back from the press and clean, off to CGC very soon.
That GL where Doc Strange is mentioned has a cover by Jeff Johnson. He would later draw issue 125 which was Ron Marz departure. Anyway I come from Very Gary Comics and Antonimo Bays comic channels. Might add you to my comic subs😺
New sub. Absolutely love Brave New World. Your in my hunting grounds as well. Nice to see a local utuber. The guys shop in Lambertville you can always find some hidden gems for great prices. There's a couple places closer to me that you might be interested in checking out. Wade's Comic Madness, Garden of Earthly Delights ( I know sounds weird). They do a fill a short box for 40 bucks. Also Comic Collection.
@@MintHunterComics Thank you as well. Couple of those store of your I will be checking out as well. Lol. Good luck hunting. Looking forward to see what you get next. Seeing if you go to those stores. FYI wades comic madness has pretty awesome daily Facebook auctions and more. so check them out
Enjoyed the video, I was luck to have the entire Geoff Johns GL run in my pull list from the start, and still have it! I agree with you that it’s one of the best runs! Most of the keys I have in 9.8, including the regular and variant cover of issue #25 I would also recommended getting the issue #9 variant in 9.8 if you can, minor 1st appearance but the cover is hands down my favorite, story is great too. If you know the cover, you know what I mean.
Green Lantern was always a favorite of mine along with The Flash. I wish I still had that first issue with the yellow spaceship on the cover. It was a great time to be a 10 year old kid and discovering all those characters who are today the icons of comics. I stopped collecting in the mid '90s and didn't start up again until last year when I was stuck at home because of the pandemic and being retired so I decided to clean up the garage and brought out some of the comics after seeing they were still in really good condition. Then I learned about dry cleaning and CGC and found out I had some books worth something. I sent in that X-Men 120 as a test and was surprised it came back at 9.8. (not complaining at all though). I used that to finance sending in a dozen more books.
Great video. James, what is your monetary threshold for sending items to CGC? I basically do the same with new RAW books to offset my PC. Keep up the GREAT work. Joe

Sure am glad I never threw those books away and kept them in decent storage conditions. So let that be a lesson to all you kids out there to never throw ANYTHING away. What hurts the most are all those '50s and '60s Marvel books I bought which are worth $millions today. I wonder how many mothers are responsible for making their kids throw away valuable comics?
Dude, it hasn’t been in the cards yet but some day we’re gonna run into each other. Those shops you went to in PA are ones I always rotate going to. Your Micronauts issue likely has distributor ink spray at the very top, probably no discoloration there. Very common for '70s newsstand comics.
That is really good news! I was hoping it was something like that it almost looks like a printing error. It's def going out to CGC once I press it!
