Nice video, a few decades ago I took a dozen long boxes to our local flea market for 4 weekends in a row in hopes to unload my crap books, sold them 2 for a dollar. In a month I sold only half the boxes. The reason I stayed a month was was you got half off your booth if you committed for a month. Made about 800$ clear. All the books were basically free, When I was young I worked at 1 of 2 comic stores in Vegas for a decade, and the way the owner paid me was in Comics, so for 10 years I never paid for a new book. I started at 10$ a day, got up to 30$ a day after a few years and began running to store. What a fun job to have as a kid, as I became an adult I maxed out at 30$ in books a prime rib dinner every night and all the weed I could smoke. Good times!!
I feel like wearing a "comics" sponsored t-shirt to dig for comics makes it harder to get deals bc sellers automatically know you know what youre doing 😂
Exactly. Plus walking with a camera makes it worse ? They probably think anybody with a camera is recording how most people don't know what they have, so they get defensive sometimes ? But thank you for all the fun videos brother. Nothing beats the thrill of the hunt. 👍
Gotta thank you man. You've motivated me to go hunting more than i use to. Today i find 2 issues each of venom 1, 2 and 3 1sr print for 5$ a piece. All look mint. Gonna pay it forward. A friend got me back into collecting about 2 years ago so I'm gonna hook him up cheap on one. Thanks again man. Keep it comics.
I recently bought a bunch of Warren publications from the 1970's they included, Creepy, Erie, Vampiirella and Marvel Monsters plus some really sweet Skywald Psycho magazines and a Doc Savage # 1.
That guy wanted someone to pick out all the good books so he wouldn't have to figure it out himself. I had that happen a few times. $1 bin books turn into not for sale books.
Gary great video as always. My wife and I may try this flea market next year after your info on this one. It was crazy that one seller didn't want to sell his books. Keep up the great work.
Gary, I'm very jealous of even your small flea market, ( that sells comic books ) especially when I saw the graded books. Interesting that one particular dealer refused to sell to you, because I doubt he's going to get better offers on those books, as they looked very low grade. But I'm glad you found something, to make the journey worthwhile.
Hi Gary, thanks for the video, fun to watch and I am learning always a ton from you. I am from the Netherlands, so it is harder for me to hunt: there are very few LCS, flea markets with comics and the like. But, two days ago I found a comic shop online with three comics that I was able to buy at cover price and less: 1st Galactus Lifebringer, House of M 1 the sought after variant and, for about 3 dollar, Hawkeye 9 2nd print variant, the sought after Aja copy. I am awaiting the package, here is hoping for a good quality. I would never have been able to spot these gems without people like you sharing your knowledge. Thanks for helping me with the hunt! :-)
Gary, I have all 12 of those McFarlane Era Prism cards (6 from the first series and 6 from the second). Are they actually worth anything these days? I've had them in hard plastic shells since the day I pullled them from the original packs.
@@VeryGaryComics how can i find collections like you do? Im in midwest and people are weird here. They put on fb marketplace stuff thats 5x higher than ebay complete. Id be happy to find one good bronze age collection even without keys..lol
Tales Of The Crypt-O same, it’s difficult in NY too. I’m learning I may have to travel fairly far into Brooklyn to find anything, or if you’re able build a good relationship with your LCS
As a fellow flea market thrifter I have never seen graded comics at a flea market, The moment I saw those I knew I probably wouldn't be able to buy anything for cheap. But that's why I am a cheapie when it comes to thrifting for deals. Great Video thanks for sharing and Happy Collecting!
Wish the flea markets around me would open up again. But got a good laugh at the guy who brings comics to sell and is like, nah I think I will keep those. Must have recognized you and was like I’m not going to lose out on these.
Here is my proven flea market comic buying technique. Make a sign "I buy comics" on both sides and hold it up as you walk. Dealers that have comics and know nothing about them will chase you down. Sometimes they have them tucked away, or even in storage. Now, you get first dibs on an collection. Dealers that know comics will fear you!!
Love a good flea market, hit one at a church last Sunday Gary and came up on my spawn fill, guy had about 25 books between 160-200 and came up on .50cent boxes for some X-men that I needed. Keep the content coming👍🏼
Great video. Sucks that dude decided not to sell his "best comics". Why would he keep comics he's not willing to part with in long boxes with all his other comics?
Another video, and a live stream tonight, you’re a glutton for video punishment, nice video Gary, I also can’t wait for next year ,gonnahit the hunt ...hard. Since watching you’re channel, it’s inspired me t get back into collecting....it’s double the fun this time around , my boy started collecting now...they love The Joker war ,Nwe Juggernaut & Justice League..,Thanks again for killer content as always.
Yeah, in IL we seem to have comic vendors like the guy who SUDDENLY decides he won't sell his comics because you happen to be recording the session on video like he's giving something away too valuable!! I have been actually kicked out of stores for doing what you did because i simply am not afraid to NEGOTIATE. These guys think that the guide prices for a 9.8 apply to their less than VG comic books...it's hilarious!
Great video! There will come a day when I have the knowledge to know what I’m looking for, but today is not that day haha. Also that guy not selling is bulsh, he’s a Doomis...
@charlie cole I sorta believe it because Aquaman 1 is over $200 dollars even in ugly condition. Lol it wouldn’t be in a cheap bin anyone can just grab.
I would of been mad as heck if after you spend time picking out what you want and the seller is no not selling them, what in the blue hell. Solid show!!!!
Thanks for the video pretty cool... Even though the flea market was half empty it was still better than anything around my place. Can't believe the guy tells you he doesn't want to sell the comics what a joke.
I wish there was a flea market near me that had some cool books like those you found bro. I went to a local one last weekend and the best book I found was a Demon #10 in 2.0/2.5 condition for $20! What a joke. Anyway, good luck next time.
When I used to find stuff I would mask them but grabbing a hand full of books I think look cool but are just filler and mix the keys in with them. Ask for a price for the stack and sometimes you get away for cheap. I got the ASM 300 for $7 that way once .
If you are ok with doing that to people. I try to pay a fair price for stuff do they to RIP them off unless I get agutfeelingthey did that to someone else.
@@charliecole9529 I believe we are both correct in a way. Just differences of opinions. Iam a collector not looking to make money. I also dont mind a deal once and awhile. May your hunting continue sir. Gl
Theonepug Onepug I’ve been screwed enough by people over pricing stuff. If you aren’t going to look through yo inventory and then expect me to pay extra after I found something you didn’t even realize you had I’ll be walking away. Simple as that. The ASM was back in 2015, it is around a 6.5 on a good day. Back then I wouldn’t have paid more than $30 for it. It’s not like this was yesterday.
Why would you bring all those voice to a flea market and set up a table to not sell? That's crazy. The best Spiderman cards are the ones with Mark Bagley art.

I kinda get tired of people have items up for sale you pick thru then they dont want to sell. Great vid kinda shows the real world of hunting.
Nice pulls at a flea market. Thanks for letting us tag along. Stay well and keep it comics.

Good day out with a buddy and comics! Sounds like a great time! Glad you found some things to take home.
Haven't been to a flea market in months, never got lucky snagging any major keys but have found some gems. Can't WAIT to get back out there!
