I'm pretty sure that Marvel/Disney have a solid track record on introducing characters. Some $20B+ of positive track record. I don't think they need help from TH-camrs...
i'd rather they leak the x-men slowly. like ororo shows up in black panther 3, mystique shows up in captain marvel 2, magneto shows up in the scarlet witch series explaining mutants to her... then you have an Avengers: X-Men movie, where the avengers come together to discuss the mutant menace - are they a problem? what stance do we take? can we spin positive pr? with wanda revealing herself as a mutant, black panther being pro-mutant, but others maybe having had bad experiences with mutants, like captain marvel, black widow... maybe captain marvel starts the movie with a fight with mystique and rogue, losing her powers at the start... and this is why she brings the avengers together to discuss the problem. this is also a good movie to introduce the x-men. Then we get a movie with the x-men where rogue shows up, unable to control her powers, scared, and the others initially are skeptical, she's the girl who nearly killed an avenger, she's gonna be bad for the x-men's image. but storm welcomes her, (because xavier's dead. ...let's just have xavier be dead, come on, xavier is dead, jean and scott are "retired," and the x-team we see is Storm, colossus, x-23, psylocke, beast, iceman, and now rogue.)

The comics Wolverine has been sized from 5,3 to 5,8. cast him around 5,6 strong, stocky, very abrasive look and sound. The need to remember Wolverine does NOT play well with others and tends to lone wolf.
Completely agree with you 100%. With a small addition: his near-masochistic tenacity. Wolverine may have an unbreakable adamantium-coated skeleton, and may heal back dire wounds in a fraction of the time it takes a normal human, but he feels pain every bit the same as anyone else. And despite that, he refuses to back down. He grits his teeth and suffers unbelievable levels of punishment because he knows he'll probably make it out the other side. Logan is basically a honey badger. Kind of fitting considering the wolverine is a close cousin.
I think if Wolverine is introduced to the MCU he should be a "side character", like Hawkeye. No standalone movie, no lead roles, just a guy on a team like everyone else.
Wolverine is my favorite comic book, I think he will have a stand-alone movie even if he’s a bit side character in the mcu xmen . I love to see a captain America cameo and a super soldier serum referenced by weapon x
Damn man, you literally expressed all the same thoughts I have regarding Jackman's Wolverine and a new Wolverine. I couldn't agree more. A lot of people think Scott Eastwood would be a good Wolverine but I don't think they understand that he'd be more of a continuation of Jackman's Wolverine than an accurate adaptation of the character.
Milo Gibson has my vote rn. I’d love to see him introduced in a Hulk VS/Wendigo/Weapon X? movie, but I’d then keep him as a side character, like you’re suggesting. I think the key to the MCU X-Men is putting an emphasis on Scott and establishing him as the team leader, first and foremost
now this is a comment that needs more exposure, great casting imo, and i think Logan being kinda the short tempered, battle-ready, grumpy asshole fits a more team-oriented movie the best.
David Hayter would be a great Wolverine because: - He looks the part - He is the right age - He can do a growly voice - He is Canadian - He used to live in Japan - His signature role of Solid Snake is quite similar to Wolverine - He wrote the first X-Men film and even had a cameo in it
Marvel would be smart to wait on recasting Wolverine let the general public miss the character. I agree that the other characters need some sunshine. Let them come into the MCU first then bring in Wolverine. Also, the next wolverine should be kinda ugly. Or at least not traditionally attractive by Hollywood standards. Hire some short stocky hairy dude with back hair as thick as a wool sweater and wrists as thick as his own damn neck. Give him the swoopy hair-do and the cigar and he'll be very different from Hugh Jackman.
"short stocky hairy dude" can still have an attractive face you know. I want women to be confused about being attracted by the little guy, that was always one of the particularity of Wolverine.
Feige has said thatmno X-Men will be coming into the MCU for at least 5 years. With Logan being released in 2017, that's ~7-8 years from the final Wolverine film until MCU. Definitely time to let them miss him. I also suspect Feige won't rush X-Men in any way. Good that they're coming home :-)
EXCUSE ME, CAPTAIN! I was watching another video and i dont appreciate you using Wolverine as clickbait. Now i gotta watch this before finishing the last video. Edit: thanks for the video
Great video as always! I kind of think Cyclops and Wolverine are kind of like Liam and Noel Gallagher from Oasis. Alternately respecting and loathing each other, but ultimately acknowledge that they need each other to make this damn team work.
Honestly I just hope they cast a young unknown actor as Wolverine. Being young will allow him to grow into the role and play him for many years. Furthermore, if he is an unknown actor people will not have much to compare him with Hugh Jackman. This would allow for a true fresh start. Just my own opinion.
Yeah, plus Wolverine practically doesn't age, so you might wanna cast a guy that will still look young in a decade or even more and then you can replace him with X-23 Then again deaging technology is getting good enough where you could make an actor look young forever, and tbh aging reversal might be a thing by the time we get MCU's Wolverine
I think the stage is set for an X-23/Laura Kinney movie. Wolverine is an enduring character, he'll be ready whenever the studio wants to get back to him. It kind of fits with outsider Logan too, since we'd already know Laura and feel the awkwardness of their non-relationship right away.
I didn't originally have an opinion on this topic or any investment, but your logic has me sold. Would love to see them take this route! It would present something new while also giving the chance to sidestep some of the pitfalls Fox had with the X-Men movie franchise. It's also time for a hard reboot of the series. Star Trek showed that a time travel soft reboot can be done, but the way Days of Future Past did it was not very convincing, even though the movie itself was actually pretty good.
Riding on a sideline here, you mentioned Cyclops and I can't stress enough how we never had a full realized Cyclops in the movies. He's always "Jean's boyfriend who reeeally needs his glasses". I wanna see him grow to that leadership position. I wanna see a Cyclops that seeks to inspire trust in the X-men. If we can get a first movie focused on him and the introduction of Wolverine in a sequel, then we can finally get some of that amazing duality that the two characters have in the comics.
Get the girl from Logan to play Laura, skipping over the original Wolverine to X23. Ignore the continuity of the Fox films, and just have it be the same actress playing the same character from different continuities. Also get J.K. Simmons back as JJJ. Like immediately.
Unnecessary to ignore continuity. Dr Strange exists, he can simply pull her through time and space. She’d go with the MCU heroes to fulfill Logan’s dying wish; “don’t be what they made you”.
@@alexman378 Okay storywise it would be very amazing that she could become an active hero when in that other universe the Xmen were outcasts and feared. Be the better Wolvierine or something
@@kennethsatria6607 Plus, you also continue Jackman's legacy that way, instead of replacing him. She already has a fanbase from Logan as well, and they'll be happy to see her again. They'll probably go with a new Wolverine, Logan is just way too big a deal to skip on. But I'm just saying, even though whoever they cast for such an important role will probably be great, it would also be pretty cool to see Laura's growth as a hero. Logan was always reluctant to be a hero, and spent most of his life as a killing machine. Laura could learn to become a hero alongside the Avengers and the timeline's X-Men, and it would be phenomenal if she had a key moment in which she would solidify herself as a hero and Logan's words echoed "don't be what they made you", and she could go "I did it daddy", or something like that, audiences would go insane. I don't know, I think it could be way better than starting over, since whoever they get, won't embody Wolverine the way Jackman did, no matter how great he is. It's like Heath Ledger, no matter how great the next Joker is, that's who he'll always be compared to.
I wouldn’t , I think Kevin feige would want the male Wolverine to be the main Wolverine until x23 comes . Wolverine is my favorite comic book character
Steve-Tony performance is the mirror image of Scott-Logan interaction in the MCU right now, (although of course they had a different character) but the dynamic couldn't get anymore closer than that.. Steve was the straight ol'goodie two shoes who always told the team the right way to do and Tony was the eccentric loner of the team, who might have sounded like a jerk, always listen to his own heart.. oppose the team leader sometimes but will not hesitant to help him after they had a fight Just give him a shorter, more gruff and angrier personality and you get your favorite wolverine on screen
Back in the mid 90's when there was talk about an X-Men film being developed. Someone had reported that Dimebag Darrell wanted to play Wolverine due to him being short and resembling the comic book look of Wolverine. To bad Dimebag passed away.
This is about the best video describing just who wolverine is from the comics. I have never liked Hugh as Logan but I’m anxious to see how close to the mark they get with a new actor playing this iconic character.
How to cast the next Wolverine? Go with Laura Kinney/X-23. Too soon to try and replace Jackman imo, and he was the main player in every X-men movie. Shake it up, give Logan a rest and reintroduce him down the line as an antagonist to whichever Hulk is around then.
The problem with this, is that Marvel should try to keep the continuity as close to the comics as they can, and they aren't going to start their X-Men franchise with a movie that takes place in an era that included Laura Kinney. Or at least they shouldn't. They should start with Cyclops recruiting the Giant-Sized X-Men team, that's the most popular version with the most interesting characters. Just cast Wolverine as a supporting character actor, not a leading man type.
Wolverine is my favorite comic book character, I wouldn’t want Laura to be the main Wolverine . Logan is such a great character you want to see him and oh yea , he has connections to hulk , he trained a young black widow, weapon x Is kinda already in the mcu because the super soldier program and he fought WW2
I’ve commented this before on your videos, but Wolverine needs to be a tv series. He has so much background and depth to him that you could still feature him in big x men cinematic movies, but give him all the solo action he needs. This gives more time to flesh him out, do story lines, dedicate episodes to him fighting the other marvel characters like hulk without it being a big movie, while also giving more space for big storylines that don’t have to be pushed in a compact 2 hours and fifteen minutes. Plus with a tv show, you can take more liberties on the mature content. Wolverine needs a show.
@Tim TheAutist Alfre Woodard plays the mother who guilt trips Tony Stark in Civil War and is also Cotton mouths sister in Luke Cage. They don't mind casting Netflix actors in the movies.
I finished True Detective season 3 not long ago and I think that Stephen Dorff stole the show and would make a great Wolverine if he can put on the muscle.
Thank you for this. Comics explained just posted a video that was garbage. His first video I didn’t like. Your explanation and break down is the best and I couldn’t agree more.
Honestly, it’s a shame that he was just cast as Venom because I think Tom Hardy has the perfect look and can portray a withdrawn brooding character really well. Think less Eddy Brook and more Mad Max. And at 5’9” it wouldn’t be hard for him to portray a gruff, small version of the character. And cast against Tom Holland and Ryan Reynolds (which are the two characters I care most about him interacting with) I think it would work really well.
I have a story to tell. I was an extra on the original X-men movie and was there for some of the shots that later became the train station sequence. While I was sitting around in the xtras holding area we would occasionally see crew working on various scenes that they were likely filming later. One of the actors that I saw rehearsing for a different scene was the actor playing Sabretooth, and he was practicing what I imagine was the big claw fight sequence that would become the finale. He was working with who I imagine was the fight co-ordinator or a stunt man. The stunt co-ordinator was short, stocky, barrel chested and extremely hairy. When he would go into fighting mode as "Wolverine" (he had plastic claws he was using to mock out the fight) he looked exactly like what I pictured Wolverine to look like. He fought low and mean, his arms looked huge... I don't know if I have built it up in my memory since then, but I just remember being super excited by how faithfully they seemed to be approaching Wolverine. I am probably one of the few people who saw Hugh Jackman's (admittedly great) performance and wondered if it would have been better if his stunt double had been cast.
@@HorrorMetalDnD Not really. Wolverine is like the ultimate warrior. He's savage, skillful, clever but also sticks to a code of honor. He's basically a ronin. Rocket, however, is just a whimsical gunman/pilot. He's not rogueish or a loner like Wolverine.

I know I can’t be the only one who saw junior grimes’ wolverine video, cmon!
Dude, your channel is so awesome. It brings me so much simple joy. Keep up the good work, Cap!
I think if Wolverine is introduced to the MCU he should be a "side character", like Hawkeye. No standalone movie, no lead roles, just a guy on a team like everyone else.
No
He too popular to be a side character won't work.
dont know wat u smoked
Noobdewd maybe not a side character, more like an important role but not as important as cyclops and jean grey
Wolverine is my favorite comic book, I think he will have a stand-alone movie even if he’s a bit side character in the mcu xmen . I love to see a captain America cameo and a super soldier serum referenced by weapon x
There is SOOO much potential here, I'm too excited.
Junior Grimes wolverine is why I’m here
You got everything right on what’s needed for the next Wolverine. Great video. Subscribed.
I thought I was the only coming straight here after the whole junior grimes drama!
Most people believe that Wolverine is modeled after Scott's father, Clint Eastwood so it's natural that they would see Scott as the new Wolverine.
Rarely comment on yt but just wanted to say thank you for your content! Always amazing and pure entertainment!
Caaaaaaptain Midnight
*Captainnnnnnn Midnight
David Hayter would be a great Wolverine because:
- He looks the part
- He is the right age
- He can do a growly voice
- He is Canadian
- He used to live in Japan
- His signature role of Solid Snake is quite similar to Wolverine
- He wrote the first X-Men film and even had a cameo in it
BRING ON JUNIOR GRIMES FOR WOLVERINE!!!!!!
I love that you choose jazza's course he is sooo great I love his content
The unpolished, more rugged and ugly version has been exactly what I have wanted to see for a long time! Great analysis!
Really looking forward to the next Young Justice review! Can't wait!
I really want to see more Cyclops. One of my favorite X-Men.
@@garrettk7166 Marvel is not their home.
Richard Armitage would make a great Wolverine. He already does the voice of Wolverine in The Long Night story podcast. And looks the part.
He's 6'2". We don't need another tall Wolverine.
Junior Grimes should be the new wolverine, hell im down for it
Excellent thesis on the Wolverine we all loved from the comics and tv series 👏👏👏
Yeah, plus Wolverine practically doesn't age, so you might wanna cast a guy that will still look young in a decade or even more and then you can replace him with X-23
Then again deaging technology is getting good enough where you could make an actor look young forever, and tbh aging reversal might be a thing by the time we get MCU's Wolverine
How is it that I freaking love ALL of your videos?
I want junior grimes as the wolverine and pretty sure I’m not the only one
Parker! You're fired!
Where are you going, boy?! You're unfired!
Unnecessary to ignore continuity. Dr Strange exists, he can simply pull her through time and space. She’d go with the MCU heroes to fulfill Logan’s dying wish; “don’t be what they made you”.
@Greg Elchert not until now! That's amazing
Totally Agree with you, I'd love to see that version of the Character in the nex X-Men Movies.
When I was a kid, in the mid 80's, I always imagined Clint Eastwood as Wolvie and Robert Redford as Cyclops. Still hoping for an X-Men: Last Class
Which is why Scott Eastwood must be cast as Wolverine
Totally agree with your thoughts on Wolverine/Logan.
Despite the different continuity, I'd be more than happy to have Dafne Keen back. I think she did a wonderful job.
I wouldn’t , I think Kevin feige would want the male Wolverine to be the main Wolverine until x23 comes . Wolverine is my favorite comic book character
I really like your analysis and recommendations. I would also like to see a gruffer, shorter, Wolverine who is more of a reluctant hero.
Great stuff as always, mate, keep up the good work
Great video! Have a great day! I can’t wait for the MCU X-men!
Anyone else coming from junior grimes???
Steve-Tony performance is the mirror image of Scott-Logan interaction in the MCU right now, (although of course they had a different character) but the dynamic couldn't get anymore closer than that.. Steve was the straight ol'goodie two shoes who always told the team the right way to do and Tony was the eccentric loner of the team, who might have sounded like a jerk, always listen to his own heart.. oppose the team leader sometimes but will not hesitant to help him after they had a fight
Just give him a shorter, more gruff and angrier personality and you get your favorite wolverine on screen
You know there is literally a young James Caan in Hollywood, right? I think Scott Caan would be a great Wolverine.
Lmao he matches the height that's for sure we'd have an actual short wolverine finally cuz scott can is like 5'1
I am LOVING the Buffy references in your videos
Now that Captain America has gone back to his time to live out his life, is it possible we'll get a Cap-Wolverine tag team WW2 movie?!
Back in the mid 90's when there was talk about an X-Men film being developed. Someone had reported that Dimebag Darrell wanted to play Wolverine due to him being short and resembling the comic book look of Wolverine. To bad Dimebag passed away.
I think Keanu Reeves would make an excellent Wolverine.
Too tall.
Wow the antithesis of what Captain Midnight said.
This is about the best video describing just who wolverine is from the comics. I have never liked Hugh as Logan but I’m anxious to see how close to the mark they get with a new actor playing this iconic character.
When you said short, hairy and barrel-chested, my mind flashed instantly a younger Danny DeVito with Wolverine claws.
Stan Lee literally wanted Devito to play wolverine. Tried contacting Devito multiple times but never got a yes.
Wonderful video!
I agree! We should have a different kind of Wolverine!
Wolverine needs his own show goddammit
Or just give it to Jon Bernthall because that man needs infinite roles.
@Tim TheAutist I feel like it isn't Canon
@Tim TheAutist Lol right? Not like they did it with Thanos and Cable or anything.
No he needs to stay Punisher
@Tim TheAutist Alfre Woodard plays the mother who guilt trips Tony Stark in Civil War and is also Cotton mouths sister in Luke Cage. They don't mind casting Netflix actors in the movies.
Kyle McWilliams Jon Berthnal is a awesome actor. But he was already in the MCU as The Punisher.
Keanu Reeves; he's a immortal vampire that never ages so he is perfect to play Wolverine. Plus his role as John Wick was awesome.
Marvel is really trying to get Keanu Reeves into the MCU soo maybe wolverine
It would be kewl
"CAPTAINNNNNNN MIDNIGHT" beats "AMERICA'S FAAAAAAVOURITE COMIC BOOK" any day of the week
Also great video haha
I finished True Detective season 3 not long ago and I think that Stephen Dorff stole the show and would make a great Wolverine if he can put on the muscle.
Agreed with everything here. Great video
Who’s here from junior grimes???
It should be Tom Cruise with his Tropic Thunder make up on. Perfect Height and hair level
Step 1: Wait like 5 to 6 years
Step 2: Tom Hardy
Step 3: profit
Of course. Anyone who says no has never seen lawless. One of the most badass characters I’ve ever seen in film
Jared Keeso never crossed my mind. Thats pretty original. Plus letterkenny is hilarious.
Thank you for this. Comics explained just posted a video that was garbage. His first video I didn’t like. Your explanation and break down is the best and I couldn’t agree more.
First! Technically second, because Captain Midnight is first but still! They should introduce Logan fighting Hulk!
Edit:First like!
Makes sense. Would be cinematic gold and comic book accurate. Great call.
@@AhtoRashied Thanks! I hope they go this route.
I’d like to see junior grimes as the new wolverine, hell I can already see it
*Junior Grimes should become the next wolverine, nobody else stands a chance !*
He back 🎉❤
Honestly, it’s a shame that he was just cast as Venom because I think Tom Hardy has the perfect look and can portray a withdrawn brooding character really well.
"HUGE ACK-MAN!?!"
Who knew junior grimes casted possibly as wolverine could break the internet ?damn!
The way you describe the new Wolverine sounds like Rocket Raccoon
Except that Wolverine is also stocky and not tech savvy, but yeah, a lot of the same personality traits.
