    Endless seems cool but can’t you just play into the OP-1? Like I prefer to play to the Metronome. Is that possible?

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that is indeed possible!

    Great content as always my man! Congratulations on reaching your 200 subscribers goal, here's to many more! 🍻
    Do you have any tips on how to avoid the clicks and pops that sometimes occur when you copy and paste a bunch of loops on the OP-1? I have a few workarounds that I use (see below) but I still think you could adress it in one of your videos as this is a pretty common and annoying problem for all OP-1 users.
    This is how I go about it:
    When creating a 4-bar loop, I always start out with recording it over 9 bars. The first 4 bars is your intro, as this piece will typically sound a bit strange if you loop it.
    The second 4 bars is your "loop-loop". This will usually sound good and run smoothly as a loop. However, starting the track on these 4 bars will sound weird, hence the intro.
    The last bar is just something you record and cut away in order to ensure that the previous 4 bars are tight enough to create a decent loop.
    This works fairly well, albeit it's not a perfect solution. I still get weird little clicks and pops when I transition from one loop to another from time to time, though not as bad as I would otherwise.
    Got any wisdom to share on this topic?

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Thanks for watching!
      I actually use the same trick as you in certain instances. Like if I'm using a pad with lots of release it will bleed into the first bar of the loop when I play it back. So if i'm doing something like that, i'll add 2-3 bars at the end of the loop so that there is no bleed, I think that's what you mean, right?
      The popping and crackling that you're talking about; honestly that's something that has been annoying me too. In particular, when I chop up a sample; often times the beginning/end part of each chop has like a high pitched clicking sound; I wish that the OP1 automatically added fades at the beginning and end of each chop, or something like that. Or maybe it's just that I have to improve my chopping skills. I'm sure there's a way around it, I just gotta do some more research yo!

    • @hummlebaggen
      @hummlebaggen 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, sounds like the same technique I'm using. You seem to know your way around a DAW (I'm pretty clueless in that department myself) so would you say it's easy to edit the loops in a DAW and get rid of the pops that way or is it about as hard as it is in the OP-1?

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hummlebaggen Yeah that's definitely an easy way to do it because you can just add faders everywhere but if you're sampling into your OP1, it's tough to avoid those clicks.

    • @hummlebaggen
      @hummlebaggen 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok cool, a friend is going to help me with mixing and mastering a few OP-1 tracks of mine, so it's good to know I'm not handing him an impossible task in that regard.
      About the sampling: I find that it's way easier to leave that task to the OP-Z nowadays. I've tried using the same vocal sample pack (one I bought from Red Means Recording) on both devices and it's just so much easier to create a nice sounding sample progression with vocal shots on the OP-Z.
      Not only does the clicks disappear, but editing the progression is naturally a lot easier on a sequencer too. I guess I'll keep using the OP-1 for coming up with ideas for the progression, but as soon as I've settled on something I'll just finalize the idea in the OP-Z.

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hummlebaggen Yeah! That seems like it would work and is a pretty unique system! It’ll probably give your tracks that unique sound

    Liam, can you explain how you ‘auditioned’ the snare at 2:25?

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I programmed it endless and auditioned it to see what it sounds like before actually recording it.

    Great video man! Question, what do you have that master drive setting at?

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris C I usually set it to around 60-70. Release is at around 50. Depending on the track the sweet spot changes a little 🙂

  • @TaiWyban
    @TaiWyban 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice channel. I appreciate the OP-1 vids. Quick question: What parameter did you put on the memory functions at the performance part of your vid?

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for watching! You mean m1 + m2 on the master track right? I used the cow effect! 🙂

    • @TaiWyban
      @TaiWyban 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LiamKillen Yeah the m1 + m2. Are you turning delay feedback and sidechain all the way down? I appreciate the feedback!

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TaiWyban I can't remember the exact settings but yeah i'm turning it all the way down. For m1 + m2 i'm setting it differently for each, so that I have two options. If I remember correctly though, if you turn everything down to 0 on CWO, sometimes there's this super annoying high pitched noise, so you have to turn up one of the parameters to like 1 or 2 to get rid of that. It shouldn't have a noticeable effect on the master if it's set to a super low amount.

    How do you layer more than 4 tracks? Is there a way to lift and drop them into one track

    I m confused about what happens when you move on to the snare you made a pattern for kick in endless then auditioned a snare which seemed to not match the kick pattern entirely
    And when hold middle c it plays
    It never showed you make a pattern in endless for the snare so I would think it would have to be the same pattern playing you made for kick
    Am I misunderstanding something or did you make a new pattern off screen

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah if it just jumps to a different pattern within the same performance function I made it off screen the same way I programmed the other parts. But let me just double check and get back to you when i have a chance to find that part. Cheers

    The “high note” you are referring to is called a harmonic... it’s expected to those that know where they are supposed to be; its not a “flaw with the Op-1,” it’s a flaw in your musical knowledge.

    • @rdomain
      @rdomain 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LiamKillen I think it's just digital aliasing due to the repitching of the sample as the OP-1 one is 44k/16 bits when sampling from memory which isn't enough for high quality repitching. Nothing to do with music theory. A filter could fix this issue for most part I''d say.

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure about that it seems to be one specific frequency that’s really sticking out.
